Models is great if you're truly a successful man who has things going for him in life. There's a reason why it's recommended by playboys of wall street. But if you have nothing going for you at all, no inner game and no actual accomplishments, then maybe you do need to fake it til you make it initially.

If you are put off, its because you don't understand the why behind him down playing classic Neil Strauss PUA techniques. Models is just stating that to be truly successful at life and woman, one needs to have a strong inner game which means having a strong sense of who you are and come to terms with the parts of your past that gave you pain and build a life you truly want. Memorizing PUA techniques, it's not enough. It's a short cut. I know because I did that in my last year of highschool and in early uni. Everyone thought I was the shit. But deep down, I was still the scared little boy. Any LTR you try will fail, because in the beginning you will seem Alpha to her, but your natural beta tendencies are going to appear as time goes on and then your gonna get fucked over by the girl.

I'm reading Models as well and love it. If you're just looking for quick pump-and-dump, the book really isn't the best place to look. It's more about development of yourself and how you present yourself to the opposite sex. Just finished Chapter 6 and I'm gonna get into it more later tonight.

His stuff comes off to me as trying too hard to be different from the rest of the PUA community on which he thrived. He is trying to stake himself out in the Purple Pill world because that is where the good PUAs are not.

The Book of Pook is much better, and nails what Manson is trying to get at with his stuff. I highly recommend it to everyone, especially those who are interested in Manson's approach.

You have to remember that Mark Mansons primary goal is to make money selling his book. By ragging on PUA he is able to create a niche that includes blue pillers who find the idea of "tricking" women into sex, revolting.

Never read it, but it sounds like feel good preaching by someone who already knows pickup. First learn things approximately, get some success, then generalize and develop your own style.

If he's down on fake it til you make it, he's full of bs.

I bought "Models" after seeing some glowing reviews about it on here, read the first few chapters, got bored and put it back on the shelf. I will finish it at some point, but nothing really jumped out at me as particularly interesting or useful to me.

It seems like it may be a good book for someone who has already gotten hardcore into PUA and who is not particularly deep or introspective. Yes, after a certain point of sexual success a guy may want to "relax into" his confidence and be "more authentic" and willing to show some "vulnerability" because of abundance mentality, outcome independence, a history of success, etc. But I don't think you want to start here. And if you are even slightly introspective and inclined toward this kind of thing, you don't need a guide book to get you there if/when you have become a champion pussy slayer and get bored by pump and dumps.

But again I still have to finish it.

Mark Manson is just rehashing the line used by women; just be yourself. His views on what are attractive to women are seriously flawed. Vulnerability is attractive to women? No, status and composure (aka maintaining frame + abundance mentality) are attractive to women.

I don't understand why you are bitching about a book. The idea of doing the reading of the recommended TRP books is to be aware of several aspects of gaming, seduction, self improvement, etc... while being rational and taking everything with a grain of salt.

Don't like it? Well, all I can see here is that you don't have the balls to improve yourself and just would like to use PUA tricks as shortcuts.

Come on, man, we are here to help. You can do this.

Models is absolutely not a book for beginners. It's not a book for guys who are struggling for that first lay, or who are fighting for control of their love life, or whatever. It's really a book for advanced people who can understand the depth of what he's getting at.

If you're reading Models and going, 'why doesn't he neg?' or other rudimentary questions like that, you're not really understanding what Manson is putting down.

The other thing that came to mind was an example he gave about Daniel, a guy that has gotten laid because of some PUA principles but turned needy afterwards. What if, to some extent, some people just want to get laid foremost and develop themselves further down the road to be prepared for a serious LTR?

The point is that you can get laid but you can't retain high-quality women without being a high-value man. It's that simple. Your mission should be your priority in life, not women. Continually chasing tail won't make you happy--continually improving yourself will.
