Remember, women consume 80% of media. Also, remember, Star Wars used to be for nerds, but that all changed when Disney got its hands on it (perhaps even before as well).

Companies like Disney make media and know its general audience, women and children, and dadbod/obese fathers who follow their every wife's whim, so, how do they make money? By pandering to society, by "empowering" women and showing how strong they can be, in their movies, which will cause good "feelz" but will never translate to anything outside of the movie theater. They are also diversifying their actors/actresses which isn't an issue, but it is when they are singling out a certain group, white guys, and then creating a narrative behind it.

Good story telling is now being sacrificed to insert underlying agendas and it is making actual men who enjoy a good movie/story, check out.

Surprised it took too long for a Star Wars post. Remember when being a Star Wars fan made you a virgin nerd who lived in your moms basement? And now as they market to women it's "accept this or you're sexist/racist"

TLJ is now the 3rd new Star Wars movie in the last few years, and in each one the key villains are ALL white males while they go out of their way for a diverse cast of minorities and female characters. I have no problem with this in general, but clearly in this case it's pandering. Had to laugh at the first 10 minutes when half the fighter pilots are women with a girl in pigtails who looks to be 18 barking military orders, and later when all the rebellion leadership is also women. of course the equality ends there - you don't see the same brutal deaths for women as men. No lightsaber slicing a woman in half. No Rey losing an arm to mirror the previous trilogies. No scarring of any kind to match both villains in the trilogy.

Worst part is the pandering wasn't even a cinematic flaw, just heavy handed and pretty obvious. The movie was terrible overall, but the above stuff wouldn't even make a top 10 list of what's wrong with it. Just more reason to limit your exposure to movies and television, it is Blue Pill indoctrination at its finest

The force awakens was the last star wars movie I watched and I don't quite understand how I had once considered myself a Starwars fan before, to being indifferent about the star wars franchise now. This post kinda put some of those thoughts into words.

Sure I can see Disney going through with trying to make the franchise PC, but how about equal opportunity for all? In the first trilogy we had Han that was pretty much Alpha male, saying whats always on his mind, shooting first because he knows better; but his character needed to grow by understanding that there is something more important than him. Then we have the young Luke guy that haven't lived a day in his life and with the help of Han and some other side characters, go through hardships, and eventually evolve to be a man.

I know that the force awakens was a big rehash of the original stuff, but they did the hero's story just wrong. I mean, this is a movie, so why suspend my belief for a bit and have the new characters go through pain and suffering to be a better person at the other side? Why not have them use virtues like courage, strength, resilience and guile to make it across the other side?

But then I realize, it is Disney after all. So, much like how all kids stories end with the power of love conquers all and the kids are somehow special without needing any actual character development to earn the win; When you replace the kids with minorities and women, it just comes off wrong.

Then again, I am not a white guy. I actually welcome non-white characters in our media more as it gives non-white people some inspiration. At the same time, I have swallowed the Red Pill. I do understand the need to go through suffering whether its at the gym, facing rejection, or bashing my mind against books until I come out on the other side a better person. I just wish these PC depictions by adding non-white characters mean that they also go through something similar to grow as a character and not just go the Disney Kid route of love conquers all and no hardships of training required, you are special so will automatically win.

I was talking to a buddy about this movie 2 - 3 weeks ago. Neither of us are big star wars, but we agreed the movie will be trash. Why? The two biggest heroes in the movie are a white women and a black man. They are trying to take down the modern empire that is ruled by white men. The girl is stronger than any jedi/sith combined. She has skills that takes year to master that she just natural knows how to execute. In the next star wars movie, she will be a God because she is a white women and not because of her lineage, not because of some equipment, and not because of unlocking some crazy hidden ability; its because she is a women.

Don't forget one of the lead actors is 6'2 bad boy that somewhere has a good side and can change (doubt it).

As a brigadier, I have a different take. Except for the color hair lady, I find it easier to criticize it on more conventional analysis. And at least in TFA, I found Hux more narm-ish than anything. Others tend to agree as well.

General Hux gets very expressive during his big speech, the intensity of which can be seen as... debatable as he ramps up about the rise of the "first ordah." Domhnall Gleeson's clearly trying to invoke Hitler during his speeches, but many would say that he often came across as ridiculous-looking too.

The movie, upon further examination, seems like a cut and shut of two different movies. The former half is the "true" image of the movie. Heavy amounts of decently written character development that actually seem like some of Plinkket's advice was taken to heart (e.g. the explanation of the true meaning of the force).

The latter half, sadly, are where things take a tumble. What even was with that OJ space chase? Did Casino Planet really have to be in there? That whole shtick (from the interception to landing on the salt planet) could have been cut down to three to five minutes. Time wasted, that frankly, could have been devoted to much better purposes.

umm im shocked at this red pill post and tbh i hope the mods do something about it. i have no quells with a diverse cast and female lead. i dont see the issue with the white male lead being the villian and in all honesty Adam Driver's performance was the only good thing about the movie.

What made this installment suck so hard was the story and the fact that they threw out most of the important plotlines/theme from the previous movie such as:

The Rey/Finn potential romance dynamic

The Snoke origin i.e. where the fuck did this guy come from and how dud he rise to power

the potential knights of ren arc

and they should have focused on more heavily Kylo's struggle with the light and dark side choice

while we all know the sjw agenda is a pain in ass, i always felt this sub rose above progressive and conservative politics in favor of making a man the best version of his self by accepting truth.

in conclusion if you have time for this piece of shit movie, you have time to LIFT. Go lift and skip this movie no because of its diversity or who the white guy plays but because its full of plot holes and bad writing.
