Pain and pleasure are interconnected like yin/yang. I think there are times in a man's life he will learn to love pain and minimize pleasure, and there are times he will avoid all pain and maximize pleasure. Neither of these is the way, but you probably a have to go through both cycles multiple times to figure it out for yourself.

This morning I stood in front of the shower knowing I was going to take a cold one. In that moment, just standing in the warm air was pleasurable. Then I felt the pain of the cold water. Then the dry towl was pleasure. That run was painful. But catching my breath was pleasurable. Fasting for the past 16 hours was painful. Then eating a healthy meal was pleasurable.

Yeah this post is a hundred percent my bro. My current routine has me in bed at 7 pm so I can hit the gym at 430 am before my job as an electrician. Even my weekends I’m up around 5 or 6 to smash the gym. You know what people ask me?

Pain takes, but also gives. Same for pleasure, always an even exchange. It's not that one is better than the other- they are the same thing, like two sides of a coin, mirorred and complementary. Try to block out either and you block yourself. I don't belive in voluntary discomfort. The fact that someone think willingly subjecting himself to pain will make him a better person is just plain sad. It speaks of our society on so many levels, each more lamentable than the next. One thing life never runs out of is definitely pain and if you disagree, chances are you've burried your anguish deep enough to fool yourself into its absance. Pain will come no matter what you do and when it does you stare that bitch down. For that's the key- not to flee, not to substitute pain for pleasure, restraint from acting on impulse. But it goes both ways as pleasure has its place as well (it's just life for fuck's sake, gotta enjoy yourselves boys) and while some of you may revel in the rush of masochistic accomplishment I'll keep puffin' my leaves after a day's work is done no matter what some self-dubbed alpha on the internet has proclaimed a rule.
