This post is intended to be a counterpoint to this thread: http://redditlog.com/snapshots/774965.

Emotional Abuse is bad. This is not how a happy relationship functions. Furthermore, emotional abuse is not the cornerstone of how a Red Pill relationship should operate. No one here is advocating "breaking" your SO.

Emotional Abuse happens when the person in the relationship who is in power (power is exceedingly difficult to share. Power always wants to be wielded by one party. Just look at all of human history.) uses their power WITHOUT any regards for the feeling or considerations of their SO. Power can be abused by man and woman alike, and is usually abused when the one wielding it has no reason to consider the feelings or status or those in their domain. For example, a king who doesn't care about his subjects, a woman using a man for his money, or a man who doesn't give a shit about his SO.

Now, what sounds like a good idea at this point is to equally share the power is a relationship! That way, no one can hurt another! This is where a key tenant of TRP comes into play: Men and Women are fundamentally different. Women lust after a man of [potential] power. Men lust after a woman of youth and beauty. These are both provable points via the evolutionary theory. Men lust after young women because they offer the best chance of a healthy baby, and women lust after a man in power because he offers the best protection for both her and her offspring! As a result, a relationship where the power is shared will suffer due to the decreased attraction the woman has toward the man.

This tenet of evolutionary theory has developed the human race over the last 10,000 years. When, ever, has there been a society ruled by women that has lasted? Women simply are not developed to wield power and the accompanying responsibility which accompanies it. It doesn't matter if this sounds offensive. What matters is the truth, however uncomfortable it may be. How many CEOs are male? How many presidents are male? How many members of congress are male? Don't be fooled by feminists, this is not the result of a social construct. This is a fact that is GLOBAL in scale, deeply rooted in human biology.

Furthermore, a woman will constantly "test" her mate for his potential to wield power. The manosphere calls these "shit tests" because the right answer is to brush them off. All women do this, and its subconscious in scale. A woman must, for historically the answers have determined her chances of survival. Again, an evolutionary basis.

Ultimately, the conclusion is clear. The man SHOULD BE IN CONTROL OF THE RELATIONSHIP. The man of the relationship should have the power. He should NOT ABUSE this power, it needs to be used responsibly. There is a MAJOR difference between wielding power correctly and squandering it like a man-child. A major problem of this current generation is no one is taught or mentored in responsible use of power. Its easy to abuse and hard to control.

A proper, healthy hetersexual relatioship should take a Captain - First Mate dynamic. The man should have the final say in matters, but not before considering the needs and desires of his girlfriend. TRP (as far as long term relationships are concerned) is about building this dynamic, not installing an emotionally abusive one. As such, the aforementioned post is irrelevant and has little to do with core philosophy of TRP.

TL;DR: Men should be in power in hetersexual relationships, using the power responsibly for the maximum benefit of both him and his girlfriend. Abusive men use their power only for personal satisfaction with zero regards for their SO.
