With the #MeToo movement trucking along, we hear all kinds of stories about predatory men sexually harassing women. It is hard to read the news today and not hear about some kind of high figure, be it Morgan Freeman, Aziz Ansari or even an Iowa Governor candidate being accused of sexual misconduct to some degree.

Personally, I make sure I take all necessary precautions to avoid being labelled as a sexual predator. I have a lot of life to live and would rather not have it ruined by reckless behavior.

However, a few things happened to me at the bars over the course of the past few months that made me wonder: What if the script was flipped and I had done these things to a woman?

Here’s how it all went down:

One night, I was outside at a bar. There was a patio area with a bit of a wall and about 10 people around me. A woman who I wasn’t particularly attracted to came up to me and said “wow, you’re tall”.

Side note: I get this all of the time from everyone. I always want to act surprised and reply “I am? I guess I never got the memo, thank you for letting me know.” But I never do.

Naturally she then asked “how tall are you?” To which I replied “6’6”.

She looked at me with awe and said “WOW, that’s tall!”.

She asks “where are you from?”

I tell her where I am from and she goes “that’s HOT!”

She then grabbed me, threw me up against a wall and started trying to make out with me. Since I was significantly taller than her, I just went on my tip toes and she couldn’t reach my face. She kept trying though. I put my hands in the air too to show I wasn’t touching her or trying anything. Nobody at the bar looked fazed.

A few moments later, a shirtless dude with suspenders comes up to me (while the girl was still trying to make out with me) and goes “hi, my name is Precious”.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say his name WASN’T Precious, but I went along with it.

He goes, “so, what’s your deal, are you straight, bi, gay?”

I tell him I am straight.

He replies, “really? Because that girl is throwing herself on you and you aren’t doing anything about it. I think you’re questioning. You’re questioning.”

He then asks “how tall are you?” Again, I reply “6’6”.

He turns to her and goes “does he have a big cock?”

She grabs my dick, says something back and says to me, “how about I reach in your pants and see how experienced you are?”

I did not want her to be doing that, so at this point, I lie and reply “I have a girlfriend.”

The guy (Precious) goes “really? Is she here tonight?”

I go “yeah, she’s right over there” and point to one of my friends who is with me but has her back turned to everything.

He goes “does she know about all of the shit you are pulling right now? I’m going to tell her about it.”

I reply, “go ahead, I have done literally nothing”.

The girl goes “you’re boring me” and the guy agrees. I immediately leave and tell my friends about this. They were just as stunned as I was.

We laughed off this whole ordeal. It makes for a funny story to tell and was absolutely absurd.

Flash forward to a few weeks later: I am sitting at a bar with my friends minding my own business. Out of nowhere, these middle aged, post wall women came up to me, dragged me out to the dance floor, and took turns grabbing my ass and my dick. The whole time they were just laughing, I kept trying to pull back and they kept going for it. It was clear they weren’t going to stop, so I awkwardly cringed and walked away.

Again, I laughed it off because I found it to be comical. But, a thought hit me the next day:

What if we flipped the script here?

What if I went up to a girl who was visibly not attracted to me, said three things, then threw her up against a wall and tried to make out with her while she was pulling away? Would people say she is questioning her sexuality because “that dude is throwing himself on her and she’s doing nothing about it”?

What if I dragged a girl out onto the dance floor out of nowhere and started fondling her tits, ass and pussy, even though she wasn’t about it?

Would I have gotten off completely scot-free like these women did?

Odds are that if I pulled any of this crap, at the very least the whole bar would’ve demonized/lambasted me and security would’ve escorted me out. If they were really pushy about it, I could’ve been arrested and who knows? Maybe even labelled a sex offender.

For future reference, the best way to spot a societal double standard, especially in regards to feminism, is to ask the following question:

What if we flipped the script here?
