There is a link on that page to Professor Kanin's original paper should you wish. He found the rate was 41% over a 9 year period. We also know that mattress girl is a false rape accusation, as was the Rolling Stone/UVa one that kicked off the whole 'Yes means Yes' nonsense. According to the US Dept of Justice report 'Rape and Sexual Assualt Victimization among College-Age Females, 1995-2015' rape happens to 0.76% of young women (or 0.61% for students). This is a far cry from the 1-in-4 nonsense that feminist trot out.

So yes, we are justified treating rape accusations skeptically. First, because all accusations of a crime against another person should be treated skeptically - innocent until proven guilty. Second that there is probably no other crime (other than insurance fraud, not sure of the figures there) where there is such a high rate of false accusations.

My position is that if a woman is proven to have made a false accusation, she should receive the same punishment that the man would have received had he been found guilty. Once could argue that it should be higher for two reasons: first that the term 'rape culture' actually belongs to men's prison culture, not the general population, so she may well be causing him to be raped, as well as ruining his life in other ways; and second because of what you say above, that these bitches make it so much more difficult for real rape victims to be taken seriously.

I think this would be way too difficult to prove. False rape is almost never charged because people feel it dissuades real victims from coming in. Also not all false rape claims even get to the point of going to the police. When I was in high school a girl I know claimed she was raped by someone else that I knew. The police never got involved and instead it went to vigilante justice with a bunch of guys beating the shit out of him and putting him in the hospital. I don't know if he was guilty or not.

That brings to mind the other side of this. How are we supposed to prove guilt or innocence in these cases? Some guys are getting out of jail after being found out that they are innocent. Some of them spend decades in jail before being found out they are innocent. With that in mind how many men do you think haven't been proved to be innocent yet? How many never will?

How to you propose that we prove that more actual rapes happen than false rape claims?

Unfortunately it's almost as impossible to get accurate statistics on false rape accusations as it is on actual rape convictions, the primary reason being that they often go unreported if it's an actual rape, and not convicted if it's false. No charges, no stats.

I would say a baseline 10% of rape accusations are false, at minimum. I have no stats to base that off, just from life experience. If a woman says she was raped, yeah, most likely she probably was. Doesn't mean I 100% believe her without hearing the story. For instance, I knew the Jackie story in Rolling Stone was horseshit from the minute I read it. No one (especially a petite woman) goes through a glass coffee table without massive physical trauma, and seven guys taking turns on a woman is also going to leave copious physical evidence.

And then there's the concept of what actually constitutes rape and the gray area that many young people find themselves in (especially after drinking).

EDIT: I think it's pretty telling that the above article is about 5 paragraphs long and uses an obvious (though not admitted) rapist as it's basis for the opinion. People like the "Frank" guy in the article are obvious predators looking to have sex with women that can't consent. That guy KNOWS he's a rapist, he just doesn't give a fuck.

Well here the DOJ surveyed a number of agencies. 8% of rape accusations are COMPLETELY unfounded. I'd venture as far to say another 5-50% are arguably very unfounded, but contain a corroborating piece of circumstantial evidence that tied the accused to the crime.

Much of the problem is that women will tell you and their friends that they were raped, then not report it to the police or press charges. So does that count as a false rape report? It doesn't factor into official statistics, but as someone who has been lied to about rape, it does dilute my faith in any particular rape accusation.

The only real study ever done on the issue is from 1994 (it followed rape accusations between 1978 and 1987), carried out in a small town in the Midwestern United States. Professor Eugene Kanin found that 41 % of all rape accusations that have been made in this town's police departments were false.

Note that Kanin only counted those accusations as false, where the accuser eventually admitted that she had lied.

Additionally, for a declaration of false charge to be made, the complainant must admit that no rape had occurred.

This is one of those areas where we seem to have lost an understanding of basic legal principles. When rape happens, if there is a reasonable persons standard that can show the accused has every reason to believe and understand that what they did violated another human being then they are culpable. This is simple shit. If somebody is violating you in a real, criminal way they're going to know it, unless they're mentally handicapped. This is the only legal area where we somehow believe the feelings of the aleged victim are a better standard of evidence of a criminal act than the actual intent of the alleged perpetrator.

Rape is different. Rape is a physical crime. Rape is an actual crime, persecuted to hell and back (ask yourself, why does the media use overblown public false rape accusations if rape is so plentiful?). Rapists are persecuted and hunted. Rapist can only use his own body to inflict damage.

A woman uses the system to inflict damage. No reprisal for her.

Any woman can file a false rape charge against you, can call in the media and have people sympathize with her. Find me one instance in the Western world, so very traumatizing for women, which rapist gets public sympathy, gets away with a slap on the wrist. One instance in which rapist gets a standing ovation for the act of rape.

Furthermore, rape is treated specially, and unlike any other crime in the media. You are supposed to believe the victim by default - but if you do that, then it means that you think the rapist is guilty by default. No other crime is treated as "guilty until proven innocent".

As a result, whopping 53 percent of rape charges are false. This demonstrates (as you do not want to be racist) that women would use the system for revenge, that they would abuse the system to unfairly oppress men.

To me, systematic and institutionalized oppression normalized by the media is far more dangerous than a random instances of criminals doing thing society agrees are despicable.

The reason TRP harps about false rape is because it can happen to you. It can happen to you, and unlike those rape victims, there is no one to help you and support you. The reason these false rape cases are pointed out is not to invalidate real rape victims, or argue over the probabilities of real vs. fake claims. The point is to show that both false rape allegations and actual rape wield the similar psychological and social damage to the victim (i.e. the falsely accused in the former case and the actual rape victim in the latter). They are both devastating to the individual in long term ways.

The real issue is that neither the law nor society treats them equally. Nor punishes them accordingly.

Rape can be classified into two categories (perhaps more but for our purposes 2).

The completely blameless rape where a woman minding her own business is attacked and held at knife-point or beaten until she submits to sex.

Then there is date rape.

Imagine that I break into the zoo at night and dangle raw meat above the tiger cage. I am not only breaking the rules but I am engaging in very risky behavior. Most of the tigers will mill about happy to wait for food to drop. They won't do anything to harm me. But if one of them jumps up and rips my fucking arm off then people will rightly say that I had it coming.

Date rape is like the above situation only women have lobbied for laws that absolve her of responsibility and remove pesky rules like, "You shouldn't break into zoos late at night and dangle steaks above the tiger cage."

To complicate issues further: if we look at the details of many date rape claims we find that almost always no violence was use. It is also extremely rare that date rape drugs were used. This is actually so rare that it's considered an Urban Legend.

Occasionally a woman is unconscious and the man had sex with her. This was wrong of him, but to claim that it rises to the level of a man breaking into a home and raping a woman at knife-point is ridiculous.

Often the woman has no memory of the event and suffered no physical harm. Yet, as a society we think that's a justification to send the man to prison for years?

What's more is that often she may have been conscious but too drunk to remember. Sex may have been her idea and their intent all night long. But because she was so drunk she can't remember the sex or blacked out during it then that constituted rape. Meanwhile, these rules don't apply to men in reverse. If he's too drunk or blacks out she can do whatever she wants and get away with it. Just try to go to the police and tell them your girl fucked you while you were asleep. It just won't work.

For those women who are riding the cock carousel, who go out and dance naked on tables, flash their tits at guys, get hammered drunk and then agree to sex only to later claim they didn't or to change their mind in the process after things got going I really don't have any sympathy for them.

Women who engage in behavior which was designed to provoke a male sexual response have no right to bitch when they succeed.

Now as for false accusations. I think that nearly everything that comes out of feminists mouths about rape is a false accusation.

All public rape accusations are false. People who are raped don't tell everyone and look for sympathy. If someone you aren't exactly close with (i.e. a girl you're dating) tells you they were raped, chances are they're full of shit.

Actual rape victims are traumatized and often can't function normally after the incident. Many of them never have sex again. Sometimes it takes years for them to recover and sometimes they never do.

The problem is that people are trying (and succeeding) to change the definition of what constitutes rape. Rape is not sex that you regret and rape is not drunk sex. It's not rape when the man doesn't call the woman back. It's not rape if her friends think she's a slut for sleeping with a guy she just met. Consensual sex cannot turn into rape later when a woman changes her mind.

Rape is one of two things: forced sex under the threat of violence or drugging a girl and having sex with her while she's unconscious.

People will take this out of context, but rape really is the perfect crime. It can be a seriously difficult crime to prove. How can you prove if sex between two people was consensual or not? Sometimes there is bruising in and around the vagina that may indicate forced penetration, but this also might just indicate rough sex. Unless we're talking about a woman getting raped in an alley late at night by a random attacker, in most cases it's he said she said. This is why the story itself is so important.

They say most cases of rape are committed by people who know the victim. But based on the current definition of "rape" who knows what the implications of this actually are. Are these cases of rape cases where the woman regrets sleeping with that boy from class? I find it hard to believe women are being raped at knifepoint or under other threats of violence by people they know. But if these cases of rape where the victim knows the attacker are regret rape or what have you, the numbers begin to make sense.

So when it comes down to rape vs false rape, a good indicator of validity is if the police are involved. Don't buy into the bullshit that women don't go to the police because they're afraid no one will believe them. If someone breaks into my house and steals shit, I'm going to go to the police. If something actually happened I'm not worried whether people are going to believe me or not.

Some might say rape is a touchier subject than breaking and entering and as I've mentioned rape can be difficult to prove. But it all comes down to the story. Attacked in an alley way = safe to assume she was raped. Drinks and a movie with a friend that became sexual = difficult, if not impossible to tell. Are we just supposed to take the woman's word for it as this point? Should due diligence and justice fly out the window? In some cases it does. Based on what we know about how important a woman's reputation is to her, if she's called a slut by her friends or regrets having sex, it's not a stretch to say that some of them will lie. Just like a man will lie about and boost the number of women he's slept with.

Real rape is terrible, but the sad thing is that it's unavoidable. It will always happen. False rape accusations on the other hand are completely avoidable. But based on how our society treats women vs men, false rape accusations are a legitimate option for women. Men are disposable, women are perfect snowflakes. Men are evil rapists and women would never lie about that kind of thing.

Your only option with rape victims is to not associate with them. Don't date them, don't fuck them. If she was actually raped, she's damaged goods and you're going to be a lover/boyfriend as well as a therapist. If she was lying about it, what's to stop her from accusing you next? First of all, a large number of 'rapes' are the woman's fault. Here's why.

A) She spent the night drinking and brought a man home/went home with him. Her ASD was telling her that she's not about to have sex, but it might just happen that way and when she gets to a bed, something puts her off. The room is dirty. His cock is small. She realises she's a slut and that this is not how respectable or valuable women behave. It could be any or all of these or something else entirely.

Whatever the reason, she decides she doesn't want to have sex. This is where any responsible adult takes charge of their own fate and makes this known. They state this, get up and leave. She doesn't. Her bad decisions, followed by her inability to speak up, mean that Bobby McBeta has sex with her against her will without being able to know this. She does not struggle. She does not say no. Is he supposed to read her fucking mind?

C) Actual rape.

It is impossible to determine the percentage of rape accusations that are false because sex happens behind closed doors and only the people involved will ever really know what happened (and of course in many situations they will be motivated to lie). The percentage of PROVEN false accusations is very low but that's obviously because very few women will admit that they false accused a guy and there will often be no physical evidence that can corroborate either way.

That said, sex and relationships bring out the strongest emotions possible in people, both positive and negative. And studies have shown that women are wired to regret having sex with undesirable men.

-Yes, rape is a terrible, horrible thing and I (and I'm guessing most men here) recognize that it's a problem. It's 2015 and we need to combat these issues more effectively.

When TRP talks about false accusations, we're not saying "LOOK WOMEN LIE ABOUT BEING RAPED ALL THE TIME". We're saying "Look, this woman lied about being raped and it's been proven that she was lying through the courts. She needs to be punished."

The problem with false rape accusations is they're a lose-lose situation. The woman is a liar, and leads people to take real victims with suspicion; which ultimately makes the real victims feel humiliated and like the system doesn't actually want to help them; thus preventing real victims from coming forward. The accused male has his reputation shattered not only amongst his peers, but possibly professionally too. Not to mention the harassment and possible threats of violent acts.

I don't think that I've read even ONCE in TRP that false accusations happen frequently. We just talk about them here frequently because it's very important to be mindful of those situations and how fucked up it is that a man can have his life ruined so easily.

It's not even a part of TRP philosophy. It's personal experience of the writers here, like myself, who have seen the false-rape accusations first-hand and warn you, even if it's 0.002% of the time the damage will end your life.

Basically, there's no real way to know the percentage of false rape allegations, but feminists like to make up very specific low numbers that were plucked from nowhere.

Also, most of these studies look at actual claims reported to the police, which you'd expect to be more credible than claims reported only to university kangaroo courts or spread around as slander-gossip.

This also ignores the issue of expanding definitions of rape, which has accelerated in recent years. When I started college, it was almost universally acknowledged that drunk people would have sex and that was totally normal. A few years out, I see people (selectively) claiming "I was drunk and couldn't consent" all the time. Last year, a female friend of mine was forced out of a social group because a guy claimed she "raped" him by having consensual sex after they were drinking.

8% are provably false. (There's another page about this on the main page) - depending on the scenario, country, consequences it is thought the real number can be up to 50%. (Varies a lot - almost certainly highest in universities).

Conversely the SJW of the world are putting the police force under incredible pressure to get the conviction rate up. And the false rape victims are getting caught in this net too sadly.

Well, in a lot of instances the communcation between men and women break down on many levels and issues. Not just rape. I see a lot of times here people say "rape culture doesn't exist", which may be true to you, but apparently millions of women and men are convinced it is.

I feel its intellectually irresponsible to disregard rape culture as 'non existent' when the push to end this non existent thing is being lead by men running these college campuses.

not to mention these days with this new definition of 'rape', i can't remember the last girl I talked to who wasn't 'raped' at some point. (my bf got me drunk, once i did something i didnt like, etc)
