Deep down, a lot of men have a conscious or subconscious fear of being publicly beaten down by another man, or even worse, in front of their girl. The sad part is that this is actually a valid concern, because of social media and the primitive nature of women. I have friends that to this day, are haunted by viral videos of high school beatdowns nearly 10 years ago. I personally know a number of women that have told me that they would break up with, or lose a great deal , if not all of their of attraction for their man if he were to lose a fight in front of them. Now I am in a community, (African-American) that places a greater emphasis on the macho, aggressive male protector archetype, but I think this primitive need for a protector lies in all women at some level.

The reality is, knowing (consciously or subconsciously) that another man can beat your ass is going to effect how you speak to him and your overall body language. You're going to interact with him with a sense of delicacy and timidity that you wouldn't have with a man you don't feel physically threatened by, or even when flirting with a women, regardless of you having approach anxiety or not. We talk a lot on this sub about female dynamics/nature, but I think something we're starting to stray away from is the primitive aspect of what a man actually is. Men need to know how to fight, how to protect themselves and their family.

I can go on for hours about my experiences with bullying, disrespect, and the different dynamics of male dominance/respect, but my point is simple: learn martial arts. This isn't to say that a boxing or muay thai class is going to make you invincible, but the confidence in knowing how to actually defend yourself, knowing that you have a switch inside of you that can flip if needed, will do wonders for your confidence. You'll feel it, other men will feel it, and so will other women.
