Good morning, r/askFDS.

I am a 23-year-old man who has read nearly the entirety of the FDS Handbook - not for some grimy, PUA-tier strategizing, but for some insight/perspective from the other side of the casual date. The Handbook was more intuitive/less ideological than I expected; some of the examples/stories I read were pretty shocking, though.

I believe I represent a very specific, niche situation which I'd like some insight on. I'm a US Marine, and I very recently returned from a terrible deployment to Iran (remember when they were acting up pre-Covid?). I'll leave out any details of what I saw/did; if it's imperative that you know, I'll answer any questions I'm comfortable with.

The situation is this: From the final month of the deployment until now, I have been suffering from insomnia, lucid night terrors, and even sleep paralysis. During daylight/working hours, I'm detached and numb. These things will eventually pass, but is this a permanent red flag for me to pin on my lapel? Is it better for me to effectively conceal these things and make no mention of anything I saw or did, or is it better for me to be an open book about these things? I'm willing to be candid, but I'm also not trying to make myself untenable to quality women simply because I enlisted like a dumbass at eighteen years old and paid the price for it.

In short, what is the "high-value" course of action here?
