My hair thinned out at 21. First few months I was self conscious about it then I decided to just do a #1 guard buzz cut. Wore it like that until I was comfortable then did and no guard cut then decided to just shave it and been shaving for about 1 1/2 years now.

My advice is go #1 buzz cut for a while until your not stressing about it then go lower. Worked for me. And I got a weird ass head.

Oh and don’t get in the habit of wearing hats all the time. You gotta own your baldness. Grow a solid beard too.

You should probably visit a dermatologist and check if something's wrong with your body instead of embracing it right away and shaving your head. I've personally known people who thought they were balding at the age of 16 or so and then it turned out to be some other problem altogether. Vitamin deficiency , stress, dermatitis, alopecia, etc. can be causes of the hair loss and let me tell you all of them have a head full of hair now after undergoing treatment. You'll most probably have to undergo a blood test and depending on the results, you'll be given some tablets , a prescription shampoo and maybe a lotion to apply on your head. It'll maybe take a while but it's better to have it checked out once.

Then forever. Fact is fact. I have MPB and my hairline quit on me in my early 20’s. I faced facts and now my go to is either The Buzz or The Samuel L.

Either way you hair, beard and even face to a degree are negated; when your physique is in point. Focus on what you can gain; as opposed to what you have lost.

start really hitting the gym hard and dont break frame if someone makes a comment about your hair. Had a couple buddies who were balding in college still pull girls just by keeping frame all the time

Shave it. I know at age 18 you cannot fathom that hair doesn't matter, but it really doesn't. Got more hot chicks after I shaved my head than before it.

However at 18 I think you should try to keep your hair until at least 24-25. At that point you can shave it off and rock the bald with beard look.

I would recommend hair transplant and/or minoxidil/finasteride - go consult a hair specialist MD. Hell even a well crafted wig looks indistinguishable from the real thing.

Again, I usually recommend just shaving your heard and owning the look, but frankly 18 is too young imo to do that, and it's gonna be tougher to hook up with younger girls (18-22). Just bite the bullet and keep your hair until 25, then decide whether you want to shave it off or not.

I'm bald at 34 and I do pretty well with women. I think I hit a certain type as I'm in good shape, wear a beard, have a lot of tattoos and it works for me. I think us bald men (who look after ourselves) often polarize women. It will either be hell no or hell yes. You'll get less of the 'he's kinda cute,' women and thats a good thing

If you join the service you get a very short buzz cut almost bald. When you get it it feels weird at first but it's very cool and your morning is shit, shower, and shave. Fast once you get the hang if it.

Hairline started receding at 21. I buzzed it with no guard and was really insecure at first. I quickly then adjusted to my new look and realized that it didn't affect my ability to pull women at all. Now, 7 years later, my hairline has receded a little further since and it doesn't bother me at all. I did grow a thick beard and pack on 25lbs of lean mass since then and that certainly helped grow my confidence greater than what it was.

You must believe that you're a fucking legend with or without hair. I believe that I'm a king. You should too.

You’re in luck OP, you discovered this early on and thus have a chance to combat it unlike a lot of people do! While it unfortunately is in most cases just shit genetics there are a few things you can try to at least stabilize your condition. I recommend 3 things:

1 Buy hair, skin, and nail vitamis/supplements and take them every day. You can often find decent B1G1 free deals on these if you shot smart and get a 2 month supply for $20. Your diet could potentially be affecting your hair in a negative way.

2 See your doctor, explain the situation, and ask if you are able to go on propecia or finasteride pills. They supposedly help to combat further hair loss. (On decent insurance there should be little to no cost)

3 Try rogaine. It’s an over the counter hair foam you rum in trouble spots to stimulate the hair follicles. You can get a 3 month supply for $50. (In some places you can get a mail in rebate to save $10)

I tried this in the beginning but it was too late by the time I noticed the thinning at my crown so i just embraced a buzzed haircut though buzzed/shaving isn’t for everyone try both if the above fails to help.

Lift too just in case as insurance. Better to be shaved and jacked than shaved and fat.

Finasteride can be bad, but it's definitely bad when you're 18. At 18, your body still relies heavily on DHT for other functions.

Go to a dermatologist asap. I have dermatitis in my head and ears. Also I had acne and my hormones were a bit messed up when I was young. Sometimes I've seen so many lost hair in the shower that I was totally hopeless thinking to myself "dude, this battle is lost". The most recurrent nightmare I had in my life was waking up, going to the toilet, looking at the mirror, and watching the terrifying image of the bald me. So you can figure out my fear about it when I was young. But despite I was losing hair in my late teens / early twenties, the heavy hair loss stopped and I still have a nice hair now in my late thirties. I've lost some hair density and my receding line is like an inch away from my line in my teenager years, but I'd never expected reaching this age with my own hair in my head. My father, by the way, was bald in his early twenties; he told me he was the only bald guy when he served at the army. In my opinion, going to the dermatologist saved me from baldness at young age like my father.

Think that baldness at that young age isn't normal at all and maybe it's the signal of something going wrong with your body. In my case, it worked. Good luck.

I used to be insecure about balding, too. About 3 years ago, right before a euro backpack trip, I shaved my head and said fuck it.

I’m really glad I did that.

Accept the inevitable, and when you’re ready, get rid of it.

Also grow a beard and hit the gym.

I shaved my head at 22. I got laid as a skinny dude with a bald head and bad teeth, you can do it too. A much easier path would have been being bald and jacked so do that instead though haha.

Just buzz cut it all of and you can use the babybliss electric shaver to keep it smooth. You mine as well just start rocking that style now and in 2 years it will be completely normal for you.
