My opinion is once you get to making out, first enjoy it, celebrate it, then remember that there are many factors out of your control that a person may or may not take it further.

There is a video game narrative that a secret combination will crack the code and get you to sex. This is only true in dating simulators.

This narrative is control oriented and narrow minded. Just like a video game.

In reality, If you are going to bed, you want the other person to be fully committed, and if they back down at any moment, they didn't feel like it.

If someone feels like doing it, they won't mind you going left or right and they will help you escalate, it will come naturally.

When you do make out, and you don't expect more then you are free and enjoy the moment.

Lots of girls will make out with multiple guys in a venue as "part of the fun of the night." You are the human equivalent of a sparkler or novelty mustache wand to them. You probably were never going to fuck them.

The ones who are actually interested in you will become turned off if they sense you consider the kiss a victory of some kind. Or if you get too carried away with it. Use it as a spice. It's not the endgame. Nor is it an essential part of getting the lay. If it happens it happens.

Try bouncing the same girl to two or three different bars, or to a bar the to a restaurant, there’s a rule to do with the time and building a certain level of comfort, that by jumping to different venues you essentially compress time from three dates to one interaction. Also it sounds like you have bad logistics, you need to have an excuse for why your going back to your place or theirs, so sex…just….happens.

For a long time I could get girls back to my place heaps of escalation the works until I went to close or move into the bedroom, then would fail flat. However on kitchen bench, couch, lounge room floor was fine, as it wasn’t an overtly sexual environment, where it just happened. And that way she can’t be thought of as a slut, it was just something that happened when we went to his place to check out his cool hat collection, then we ended up on the floor. Which is completely different from “let’s go to my place”, there’s no pressure or responsibility on her now.

as someone who has picked up a lot of women at bars my advice is

Talk to them a lot and get to know them so they are comfortable with you, try to tease them a bit and find out what you have in common
When it seems appropriate or the night is winding down ask them back to your place
While it is good to kiss her as soon as possible, you don't need to keep kissing/making out or escalating physically while at the bar if you just keep touching her side or being flirty or playful when she agrees to go home with you you can do it all there

Seems like if your goal is to have sex, it becomes a game of numbers. Meet enough girls, eventually one of them will be up for doing something at yours or hers. That being said, I think some girls aren't into sex on the first date. It may not be an issue with you, it may just be the girls you're meeting aren't up for having sex at the time.

Don't kiss the girl until you're doing shit sexually. I've done both ways and succeeded in both. But being masculine and allowing the vibe, instead of trying to kiss her or something is far superior. The average woman we as men date are not gunna have super high interest initially. So, trying to kiss or make a minor move like that is often not the way to go. Getting the woman's respect is everything or it'll be super boring, even if you do end of fucking. That's what I've observed over the years.
