First, I'd try and have a little more confidence. Slim and 20 and not ugly puts you ahead of most other women out there, honestly (being slim happens to be the number one thing I find attractive). And as for not being a 9 or 10, most guys aren't looking for or expecting a 9 or 10 and if you are a pleasant enough person you'll be attractive to them anyway.

I like your attitude but day game should be approached differently by a girl. Guys like to feel like guys and straight up doing pickup lines will probably intimidate or confuse the person. I'm not even sure what you're thinking would work well for most girls. I think the best approach you could take would be to get them to feel confident and want to take initiative with you for much of the juicy stuff (guys like feeling like that). So really, you ought to just find an excuse to initiate a normal conversation with them, and try and act interested in them (but don't make it seem too forced), and if the guy is interested and not a wimp he'll go ahead and do what you want him to do... if it's near the end of your time spent together and you think he's interested but too nervous to take it further, you could easily break the ice with "... So would you want to meet up again sometime?"

I'm always disarmed when a woman uses an indirect opener: I don't suspect you have hostile intentions. If you like where it goes from there, experiment with leading him to ask you out by dropping hints like "We should get together for drinks" or if you were speaking of an activity, insert that.

This is kinda what I've learned about rejection. I hate it, I really think I'm the shit, so when a girl rejects an advancement I make. I feel as if I failed to convey my true self in that 2-3 minute window. But, thats just one person, and as long as you can hard iron your self worth. Make sure it isnt affected by your failures, it won't make a difference if you're rejected a hundred times.

Which brings me to what you said about saving face. "Thanks for your time" ugh, I don't like that, I wouldn't like to hear that, I wouldn't wanna say it either. When they are uninterested, and respond coldly to you putting yourself out there, I'd just fuck it. Fuck it and move on, what do you care if you save face with that guy. Or other people watching, fuck other people. If I were to witness the entirety of your pickup attempt, I'd have respect for anyone that approaches a stranger they find attractive and doing that. You're probably a pretty solid girl, so saying thanks for your time is selling yourself short, and would make me feel guilty or something if I genuinely wasn't attracted.

In my opinion, most guys instinctively like "the chase" for me, if there's no chase involved it's almost no fun. I mean every guy likes an alley oop from time to time but it's less fun when it's more often.

Id suggest the same I would for a guy. An indirect way to stir up convo. Even if it's a cheap excuse. What time is it, where'd you get those shoes? I'm shopping for my brothers bday, bla bla. That way the guy can be like, woah is she flirting? Let me see what I can pull off here, and then the roles can switch back.

I've had girls be forward enough so I know I should be gaming but they let me do enough so I didn't feel like I was less of a man for not doing my part.

One time I was bar tending a private event and a girl was flirtatious all night. I didn't think I had a chance because it was a fancy event and I was just the help. She kept it cute all night and by the end was like, take my number, we should hang out. Which we did, and it was fun. So that works. But I think a cold approach will work but it's less appealing.

I don't know if this helps, but I think people put WAY too much emphasis on what they need to say to a person to "woo" them. The average person would be FLOORED if a person came up and started talking to them. If a reasonably attractive girl started talking to me at a bar, or on the street, or at a coffee shop, I wouldn't care what she said (as long as it wasn't "I want to cut you up into bits and saute you with shallots and paprika").

There was an article on The Atlantic the other day about dating on OkCupid. While it doesn't directly correlate with meeting people on the street, one sentence stood out to me above all the rest, and is directly applicable to this conversation. The girl said when she activated her profile, she received an IM from a guy who was ok looking, and seemed decent from his profile, but the simple fact that a BOY was talking to her? She was over the moon. It went down hill from there based on a number of terrible messages, but regardless, the simple fact that a guy was showing her interest absolutely made her day.

I asked my ex out after talking to her for maybe 5 minutes at an event we were working. She told me later that she was so happy I asked her out, and that guys never do that kind of thing. Put yourself in a guys shoes, as guys rarely get hit on or asked out by women, and imagine a girl coming up to you and saying "Hey, you're cute, want to get a drink?".
