Pretty well the same thing happened to me. Basically it is shit when you and a friend are into the same girl, so much competition and your worst comes out. For me I got sick of it and went after other girls, she ended up getting jealous and wanted to get back together. I was having a lot of fun myself and still am so I've decided to stay friends with her. She is ridiculous hot so other girls like me more when they see us hanging out. So she pretty well wing man's me! Best advice I can say is move on fast.
Don't tell your friend that he's being a fucking douche even though he is, that was my mistake and it doesn't help.

Don't react. She's likely trying to evoke a response, and what you interpret as competition, is likely just him being friendzoned. That's the way I see it.

OP makes no sense. If "she seems more excited to hang out with him" then, i.e., she doesn't like you and you should move on. So take everything I'm gonna say under the assumption that you've lost her already:

The ultimate alpha move would be to pull her to the side and say "hey my friend X really likes you and it seems like you like him too. You should give him a shot." When she says "well what about us?" you'll be like "I like you a lot, but it seems like you like him more than me so I don't want to get in your way. I don't want to get hurt either." And then you go fuck other girls, and make sure they meet her.

Girls like this love male attention and they basically want to have to eat their cake and have it too. I mean, if you could fuck 2 girls that were friends at the same time wouldn't you do that if you could? You have to drop an ultimatum on her and let her know your'e not going to compete with your friend for her pussy.

Also, it sounds like your friend is a shitbag for trying to take over her pussy. The alpha move with him would be to pull him over and say "hey man, do you like X or not? If you do, ask her out. Stop being a pussy." That way, you're gonna make HIM shit or get off the pot.

The best way in my opinion to handle this is to date other women and have other options. You have the scarcity mindset which is horrible to have when it comes to women. If you show a women you have options and you are willing to walk away from her life at any time, they will most likely start chasing you and become more attracted to you.

It's funny man I'm actually going through a similar situation right now, friend is being an orbiter and my relationship with him is rocky; he also doesn't get a lot of female attention.

We were hanging out with this girl that I hook up with (who I also dated and split with), and he was making douche comments out of everything I said and just kinda downplaying me, and I guess I was so caught off guard by it I really couldn't think of anything to say. And like you, I feel like I noticed a lot of my insecurities were showing and I'm pretty sure I won't ever be hooking up with this girl again.

So the best thing you can do is to just learn from it, and be able to recognize this situation should it occur again. I think we should just look at the bigger picture and move on, we only become stronger because we learned from it.
