Has seduction changed your perspective on romantic films/music?

They sell so well because of a few rather obvious reasons:

1.) It never happens 2.) So many AFC's can relate to it 3.) The AFC's in question aren't usually ugly / uninteresting, just usually suck at interacting with girls and girls think they love this. They feel important and in control of the situation etc.

It has had a curious on me in that i am now of the opinion that the "pedestalisation of women" (as it were) is a very pervasive thing in western culture.

I watch movies and see women in relationships getting away with acting erratic, spoiled, unreasonable etc and even if she is at fault, the guy has to win her over. That really irks me

I remember a movie where this girl dumped her star crossed lover in a fit of pique and afterwards as the guy was relating what happened to another female friend of his and her reply was something like "How could you just throw her away like that?" like he was obviously at fault and meant to chase and placate her. Never mind that she was the one who unreasonably dumped him.

Even a fairly good movie like Crazy, Stupid, Love was ruined for me by it's preposterous plot. Apparently this wife got bored of her marriage, cheated on her husband, asked for a divorce resulting in him moving out of the house (!). She continued seeing the other man while he tried to pick his life up.

When he learned some game, he started seeing other people and when she found out she was mad at him, saying something like "I don't know you anymore". Amazing. Note that she was still deriving the benefits of other man's (a spry looking Kevin Bacon) cock at that same moment.

That they could even put a line like that is incredible to me. The movie practically absolves the wife of any guilt- no one ever confronts her about he skankiness, ever. She is still in the position of the moral high ground apparently, enough so that she can guilt him for seeing other women (and yes, he does feel guilty- the movie makes it clear that he is remorseful, that anyone who sees other people after being cheated on and being told to fuck off is a bad bad person).

The worse thing about the movie is how it makes a virtue of the act of Steve Carrel trying to win his cheating whore of a wife back. Like "this is the honorable to do" kind of thing. Another disturbing thing is how NO critic noted any of this. Critics usually point out when movie characters act in unreasonable ways as it breaks the immersion, so if they did not note how unreasonable a large part of this movie was, it was a tacit acceptance of the values the movie was pushing-

I.e. it doesn't matter if your wife cheats on you, asks for a divorce, kicks you out and starts seeing someone else- chase after her, and for goodness sake, don't start seeing/fucking other women, you asshole.

The pedestalisation end game as it were.

Also, notice movies and shows that feature unapologetic powerful alpha males in them are the movies that become legendary. We're talking the honey badger "takes what he wants" type guys.

500 Days of Summer for me is the ultimate AFC movie. It doesnt help that the girl is for all measures a selfish sociopath, but the dude's behaviour is just pathetic.

Maybe its the signs of our times, but in that whole fucking movie I havent seen anyone care for anything than themselves. EVERYONE's a prick.

Just like that movie Scott Pilgrim, that shit should just be called "Narcisism: the movie".

Ever since i started getting into the whole Culture of seduction, i have been able to point out techniques/methods in the media. More recently, my co-worker was listening to Katy perry's hot and cold song. Under my breath, i whispered to myself; "thats the push-pull technique". She curiously asked "what's that". While it hasn't changed my perspective, i have become more aware.

I've been watching a lot more indie films lately and drawing on those for inspiration.

If you think deep, and have Netflix, I highly recommend checking out Certified Copy on the Netflix Instant Queue as a reference to how deep the actual rabbit hole can go.
