Hsv is super common indeed. I have avoided hooking up with several women where I could see they had active cold sores on lips. I think this has kept me from getting it a few times.

I also take a good look at their coochy before deciding whether to dive in. Always requesting a mutual shower before sex.

Honestly, i can't really know if I have it or not - because these things can be dormant and asymptomatic for a lot of people. But so far - no symptoms. Maybe I'm lucky.

I also make sure to always use a condom with new partners, and shower and clean my dick and mouth thoroughly after sex. And I do believe doing a good clean before and after contact can help reduce chance of transmission. But I'm no expert. It's obviously not foolproof. But I'll take any percent of improved chance I can get.

Also staying away from sex workers has probably kept me safe as well. I think sex workers are very high risk for STDs - especially in certain countries.

It's something you just have to be aware of if you're hooking up with a lot of people. You're going to hit exposed to it.

Slept with well over 80 woman and never gotten HSV. I don’t think it’s as common as people think.

It’s definitely stigmatized, if someone manages genital herpes they very rarely if ever get outbreaks. I personally would only consider sleeping with a woman who had genital herpes if I knew she would be my future wife. But the paradox is I wouldn’t want to have sex with them or date them therefore I’d never get that far.

If I got it would kill my dating pool and likely need to settle for someone below my standards.

Alright....Ive done a TON of research on this.

Herpes is life long, even if the infection isnt active and a number of studies have shown it virally sheds asymptomatically more often that previously thought....HOWEVER.....I think after the infection has been two years or so....the shedding occurs maybe 4 days a year on average like max.

NONETHELESS, I ask EVERY partner for a full panel before we do anything. The testing isn't always 100% and false positives happen but its better than nothing.

NONETHELESS, Its annoying as HELL when someone ever says, "Dude...like 50-70% of the population has it." A lot of people have it....yes....but that number is VASTLY inflated.

Im mid 30s....I'm not looking for anyone.....you can probably eliminate the population over 45 and given Ive seen data showing that 50-70% has a high accounting for older generations....that percentage goes down....now eliminate anyone married/not available, not cute, not single, annoying, fat...etc.....

And that number goes down WAY farther....so I know the percentage isnt NEARLY that high. Yes its high but you'll hear a LOT of inflated stuff about the number.

Id be more wary of HSV2 than 1, as a lot will get hsv1 when they're a kid so I have done some things with women where they did test positive for it....NONETHELESS.....if I DONT have to run the risk of not getting something with me thats for the rest of my life....I'd rather not.

Thats also on top of that it fucks with your nerves. Go read the HSV subs, there's some crazy shit people will tell you about how NO that the thing HURTS to get as far as it activating nerves in your legs. Thats also on top of recent research showing a connection between HSV and Dementia....so this whole whitewashing of "its not that bad and a LOT of people have it" is kind of a bunch of BS IF you actually do some research.

Ive tested for both multiple times and been negative every time.

Doesn’t make any difference at all. Use protection if there is an outbreak. They have excluded herpes from the normal STD test so I don’t know if I have it or not. Most people do.

Educate yourself about STD. I know sexual education is really bad in the US, but that is no excuse. When we chose to have sexual we also need to know what the hell we are doing.

i’d say there is only one way to know, go slow with someone. get to know them before doing the deed. hopefully, they have an outbreak and you can see the signs. otherwise, hookups come with their own set of risks.

Even tho most people have it, not worth the risk. Maybe if she was on meds and didn’t have an outbreak but I still wouldn’t do it

I contracted something on my lips that makes them hard to stretch and sticky. No blisters though. I believe if I had washed my mouth immediately after I would have been alright.

hsv1 is really not a big deal. they don’t even test for it on STD tests because it’s more so considered a benign skin “infection”. think over 50% of the world carries the virus. It’s not a matter of if you get exposed to someone with it, but more so when. you could have it and not even know.

Obviously type 2 is way more serious and you need to be careful about that 100%

I don’t tell any of the girls im sleeping with that i have herpes. No I’m not a monster I won’t fuck a girl if i have an active breakout but yeah nobody has complained yet. This lie is kind of perfect because you can just pretend you didn’t know you had it since it’s so hard to detect since it’s often asymptomatic
