Bringing something when visiting someone’s home IS NOT cringe. I’m guessing with gift you don’t mean like a dress or a ring, you mean «bringing something» cause you know that character is shown through mannerisms. You should ask her if she drinks wine, if she says yes then ask her if she prefer red or white. Don’t say more than that, the rest of the work choosing the wine based on your impression of her- is on you. Showing up at someone’s home with either wine/non alcoholic beverage/favorite snack, or couple of flowers(not a bouquet since it’s first time) makes the person profile your character through the maturity, self assurement, manners, values you show, and best of all it’s a perfect way to show that you’re not greedy which is a huge turn on for either gender, species or any other living organism.
