Hello sedditors.

I’ve been absorbing all your wisdom like a keen sponge and thought I’d share several revelations that might help you too. In the few months I’ve spent on here, your willingness to share your experiences and create a community has improved me no end. I have gone from spending most of my time reading or playing video games to running five miles a day through the woods. I have started lifting weights and already have an improved physique beyond the pitiful stature of yesteryear. I have an abundance of women in my life. I – attract – women – now. Beautiful women. And the part that I really enjoy:

I feel like the absolute shit. I am part of the human tribe now, not sitting on the outside looking in, holding a tissue and feverishly opening tab after tab of slutload.com.

There will be two sections to this. The first is the idea that crystalised all of this for me.

The second is a small rant on why pickup is exactly the same as unicycling.

So firstly:

I strongly recommend you read a book called Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion by Robert Cialdini. I found it for free as a pdf and just stuck that shit on my kindle. It’s designed to help you understand and avoid sales tactics, but can be read just as easily to learn the art of persuasion. There’s an idea at the very start called the click-whirr response. Turkeys will only feed the offspring that make a ‘chirp’ sound. This is to ensure that only the fit offspring survive. The natural predator of a turkey is a polecat. Polecats fucking love turkeys. Just seeing one is enough for a turkey to lose her shit. She doesn’t want her children eaten. The weird part is when you attach a speaker to a polecat that plays the sound of chirping turkey offspring, the mother is completely relaxed and practically welcomes it in. This is the click-whirr reaction. The turkey is so predisposed to that sound that even when the fucking turkey-baby-eater comes a calling, she can’t help but react to the sound of it.

In many ways, humans are no different. I’m sure you’re all familiar with this idea, but it just helped to really settle it in my head. In daily life we click-whirr all the time. Someone is walking towards me in the street smiling. They must have good intentions. Click-whirr. She has large breasts. That must make her very fertile. I would like to put things inside her. Click-whirr. Automatic reactions based on a single line of code. This is as exploitable as it is exploited.

And a good salesperson exploits it all the fucking time. The moment I understood this, it suddenly made sense to me why a good physique will attract more women. It made sense that taking care of your appearance transformed you from a ringing leper-bell into a sexual billboard. It made sense that smiling, seeming assertive, confident and healthy would be the most attractive qualities you could cultivate. In 21st century society, we don’t have time to screen everybody and interview them to find out if they are potential high-quality sexual partners. Our social circumstance has forced us to evolve shortcuts. A good dress sense, an abdundance of smiling, an outgoing strong attitude, these are all click-whirr flags to say – biologically - I am the om nom. TAKE MY GENES

The click-whirr sexual indicators are already out there. It’s easy to utilise them. It isn’t some great secret. All of us here are already well aware of the steps necessary to become powerfully seductive. A lot of it will be the exploitation of the click-whirr phenomenon.

And secondly:

I started unicycling about the time that I discovered this subreddit. It hit me a few days ago just what a staggering amount of similarity the two have between them.

  • At first it will seem impossible. It’s so alien to anything you’ve ever done that you’ll try to convince yourself it will never happen. There are a few people around you that are pretty good at it, but still, it must be fucking impossible. They were probably born genetically better at it.

  • You spend hours diagnosing what went wrong every time, trying to meticulously pick out PRECISE moments of failure to explain your fuck ups. Then you make progress and you realise that it wasn’t hours of surgically pulling apart your mistakes that made you better. It wasn’t something small and specific that made you succeed. It wasn’t putting your feet on the right part of the peddles. It wasn’t talking to her in a hypnotic low bass tone. It wasn’t leaning forward over the wheel. It wasn’t making constant eye contact with her. What got you ahead was just confidence. It was throwing yourself in and seeing what happened. Experiment is the lifeblood of success. Experiment breeds deviation from the norm. You didn’t cycle an extra 5 foot (or take that stunning blonde home) because you spent every second of it thinking about what to do next. You did it because you said fuck it, remembered that the odds of your birth are trillions to one against, that you are standing on a living spaceship spinning at 9000 miles an hour in a practically infinite universe that couldn’t give two shits about you and that you’ll be dead one day. You threw yourself in without intellectualising and you did it. You were a man. Not an academic.

  • You will want to give up because you’re not seeing results. It’s pointless. You could be doing anything else right now that isn’t just wasting your time and stealing your sense of self-worth. Then you make a breakthrough and feel like a fucking god. You remember this feeling every time you want to give up from now on and it improves you immeasurably. It’s a snowball effect. As the results get better and better, your confidence in yourself improves exponentially and you get better faster.

  • You improve without even realising. Then one day, cycling miles at a time (or approaching without even thinking about it) you realise you have just gone and done that thing you branded absolutely-definitely-entirely-irrefutably impossible. Through persistence. Through being inspired. Through focussing on the end goal. Through knowing that jerks have done it in the past, people that weren’t as smart or attractive, people that hailed Justin Bieber as the single greatest musician of our time.

Well, those have been my two revelations recently. Like I said, get hold of Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion. I also strongly recommend a pdf called The Book of Pook. It’s very much a supporter of an idea I’d like to put forward too:

It isn’t about saying exactly the right lines. It isn’t about getting every second of approach and conversation and close perfect. It isn’t memorizing openers. Fuck all the shit. It’s about having fun and becoming the most actualised version of yourself. If you’re confident, you don’t need a book of lines to open a set. You don’t need someone to tell you how to stand at a bar, how to make eye contact, how to appear self-assured. Once your self-esteem comes from the inside, NOT EXTERNAL-VALIDATION, you’ll be fucking unstoppable.

Have fun,

Exurbia
