So I've posted on this subreddit not too long ago saying that I want to give this a try, asked for tips and suggestions, also mentioned how I want to give field reports!

I found this lovely gentleman working at my local grocery store and decided today is the day I will give this a try. He was already a familiar face and I'm sure it was because he's from my college.

Approached him and said "Hey, I really like that necklace you have on." He chuckled and thanked me then I proceeded and asked "Do you go to --insert college name--? You look very familiar."

He nod his head and put the box of cereal on the shelf then fully turned his body so it was facing me. We chatted a bit about our programs and he recognized me too! (Shocking) Our conversation came to a pretty natural mutual ending, instead of me asking him for his info.. he pulled out his phone and asked for mine.

He said it was rare that a girl approached and it was rather flattering, also mentioned that he noticed I shopped here often and wanted to approach me too but was too shy!

So that's one successful approach!
