If you just want effective, rather than specifically an interesting, canned opener.. try something a little more upfront like:

"Excuse me, can I ask you ask question?"

** proceed to ask literally any question about anything relevent to your surroundings**

After she answers, thank her and say:

"By the way.. just wanted to say that I think you're pretty/cute/whatever. Wanna grab a drink/coffee with me sometime?"

But SMILE and make good eye contact, smiling with your eyes too! And I mean an honest, authentic I'm happy and having fun kind of smile and attitude.

If she says yes, good on ya! If not, just casually tell her:

"Hey, no worries, just thought you were cute and I would have kicked myself later if I hadn't said something."

In my experience, most women are nothing but flattered and will rarely (if ever) shoot you down harshly. Remember, 99% of guys dont have the balls to even strike up a direct conversation outside of a bar environment, during the day, and without alcohol involved.

Either way, you leave with a sense of accomplishment for acting on something despite the discomfort.. and you most likely also make HER day, because you made her feel attractive/special/noticed (by choosing her over all the other women around), in a polite, non-threatening way.

Do you want interesting... or effective lol? If you mean interesting, you can say literally anything.. as long as you deliver it well. I genuinely believe the words barely matter if you're attractive/clean cut and come across as non-threatening and fun.

Picked up a girl at a mall coffee shop once, with:

"GIRAFFES... have extremely long necks. Discuss?"

I was like 17 or 18 years old, and my buddy and I would each come up with lines that the other had to use, on the spot. I walked up to a girl (from behind her in line), already trying not to laugh.. and barely made it through the first word without cracking up. Within 0.2 seconds her whole face was lit up, smiling, and after getting her number, we spent the next couple mins chatting and laughing our asses off till our coffees were ready.

Ironically, the barista who served us, watched the whole thing. She was also around our age and cute too. As I worked only two doors over, I saw her almost daily and liked her for a while, but never had the balls to say anything about it. Ended up finally asking her out too, a few months later.. although I bombed that one so badly that I still wonder what was going through my head at that age..

Try asking for their opinion on a store item or how do they make a dish.

Look like debating between 2 choices: “Excuse me, can I get your opinion, which (item) would you recommend?””I’m making (dish).” “Is there a difference between sardines in oil vs sardines in water?” Talk it out with them. People like to give their recommendations or at least their opinion.

I think one liners don’t work as just genuine complements or simply commenting on something they are wearing or doing. I practice complimenting people in front of my kids so they just think it’s normal. I compliment everyone. When you do this you build up a personality that is generous. So when you do compliment someone you’re interested in it doesn’t sound like a pick up line.

The trick is having something to talk about after the initial conversation.

And the trick is to sneak asking if they want to do something in between other small talk.

My trick when I was younger for getting women to essentially ask me out was to just tell stories of interesting things I was actually doing. They typically would just ask to come along if they were interested.

So the “trick” is to actually be nice/complimentary and interesting.

Instead of specific lines, think about more like.

There's no canned opener that will immediately get you into a conversation, you have to improvise, it's not that big of a deal how you open but conversation control, and your ability to generate a spark, make her laugh, and generate comfort.
