Yep. Just said yesterday that as a preschool teacher, I was constantly sexualized and fetishized by men. But then I stopped and thought about it and actually, I’ve been sexualized in pretty much every other job I’ve had also. Working as a receptionist in a car dealership with mostly men was just endless harassment, even getting comments like I got the job because I’m young and hot (not because of my great customer service skills or anything else related, just my looks).

This is why it's soooo essential to legislate protections and access to financial freedoms, reproductive freedoms, and imo reparations. Personal safety and freedom doesn't just "prevail" without legal leverage and protections.

I didn’t want this to be true. And for so long I tried so hard to find it to be not true (note: the below example is not the first example of my noticing this. That would be ridiculous. It’s the most recent example of a dude coming clean)

It’s true. Y’all my boyfriend and I tripped balls on acid a week ago and among the things he said was that he was sorry for having misogynistic thoughts. I asked him to explain

I would be cooking noodles. Handling a hot pan with onions, boiling water, preparing the rest. And he would stand there wondering what to do and when I give him a task, he would do it and immediately ask questions and interrupt my tasks. He said he felt an entitlement for my time despite me being so busy at the moment, and he was sorry. He was noticing it.

He felt more and more sorry after realizing this sense of entitlement and reflected on how he behaved toward other women in his life. And he said I was right about how I so easily and readily cut men out of my life for treating me poorly or less than. He was almost one of them after arguing senselessly with me in the beginning, and I had zero qualms telling him I wasn’t interested in arguing and he could GTFO.

Could this be a trick? Maybe. Does he truly understand the depth of misogyny and how it affects me and other women? Definitely not. Is he better than anyone I’ve dated and treats me extremely well? Absolutely yes. Would I drop him for treating me badly? Yes, and he knows it.

FDS is the only way to deal with men. Seriously. The super misogynistic ones cannot be swayed by us and it’s safer and better for us to leave them be. Only deal with those who are willing to self reflect and see us as actual humans.

Yup and it’s only getting worse, as she mentioned. I just think the only way around this seems to be by staying out of relationships. I mean, you can educate the good men but most of us just don’t have time for that. I used to when I was younger, now I can’t be fucked. Also, there’s less good men so i don’t seem to come into contact with them as much anymore.

I had gotten to the point with my ex where I had to hide in the bathroom or close the door to just CHANGE because the second he saw me stripping he had to grope my tits. Or when I was cooking or fucking reading. Or when we’d cuddle. Like he could not stop sexualizing me for ONE SECOND.
