The left can't meme for shit.
These are the same people who made the Hillary Clinton symbol have a BIG RED ARROW POINTING TO THE RIGHT.
I mean really. Who approves this shit? Maybe they're history's best troll.
[–]spoopytater24 points25 points26 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Glad I'm not the only one who noticed.
[–]bitsiaeth-1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Someone must have noticed because they eventually were smart enough to make it a blue arrow ... but still pointing to the right because it was supposed to represent going forward... Implying that going left was going backwards.
[–]spoopytater3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
There's actually a theory in cinema where you have your protagonists on the left of the shot facing/moving to the right and the reverse for the antagonist. You'll see it everywhere when you pay attention.
[–]wildfireboat24 points25 points26 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I knew Trump would be President the moment he retorted: "...because you'd be in jail."
You all know what I'm talking about.

How about "only Rosie O'Donnell"?
[–]Watermelon_Soldier4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Also the whole “Love Trumps Hate” shit. First of all you’re using the name of your opponent in your own marketing campaign (free advertising for him thank you very much) and second of all the message implies that Trump is beating or trumping hate with love, not that people are beating trump. Lol smh
[–]bitsiaeth-1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It could also be read as “Love Trump’s Hate” - as in “We Love Trump’s Hate” - and people really wanted this awfully out of touch woman, who thought clever marketing to millennials meant pouring yourself a beer (which she failed at) and saying shit like “Hey, I’m ‘just chillin’ in Cedar Rapids” with a stupid coozie - people really wanted this lady to have the most powerful position in the world. Trump changed the game and showed us you could win big by just accepting that you’re a human with flaws, not some perfect caricature of a politician who denies that they’ve ever fucked up.
[–]PM_ME_YOUR_LUKEWARM0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I mean, pointing to the right is nbd, they wanted a symbol of progressiveness.
Had the arrow pointed to the left it would look backwards.
[–]bitsiaeth1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
A symbol that implies the “right” way is the progressive way. And the “left” is going backwards. You don’t think that’s a big deal?
[–]PM_ME_YOUR_LUKEWARM0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
i guess it's just always been that right is forward and left is behind

French colonization of the Americas
The French colonization of the Americas began in the 16th century, and continued on into the following centuries as France established a colonial empire in the Western Hemisphere. France founded colonies in much of eastern North America, on a number of Caribbean islands, and in South America. Most colonies were developed to export products such as fish, rice sugar, and furs.
As they colonized the New World, the French established forts and settlements that would become such cities as Quebec and Montreal in Canada; Detroit, Green Bay, St.

It's alright, we sent our criminals to Australia instead.
[–]Borgmeister0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Didn't it? Seems to me to have been a roaring success. From 0 to moon landings and atom splitting in 200 years? That's success. First class, unequivocal success.
[–]bitsiaeth0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Don’t try to give credit to the limeys for that. That all happened after they failed to keep their colonies.

And you folks do the stupid month/day/year.
[–]bitsiaeth0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Well, look at it this way, you either do the smallest unit of time to the largest unit of time, or you go from the smallest possible number to the largest possible number... 31/12/2018 looks a lot dumber than 12/31/2018.
[–]Judah_Earl0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Nah, 12/31/2018 is ridiculous, it even sound stupid to say out loud.
"The twelfth month, of the thirty-first day, of the year twenty-eighteen."

You do realise we have dental care here too right? Just because some lazy cunts don't wanna go doesn't mean we all have crooked yellow teeth.
Edit: aww, what's wrong MGTOW? Did I do a bad and not generalise?
[–]FortyandLifeToGo5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Yes. Spent a summer there. One of my favorite countries I've visited. You guys REALLY become assholes once you move to the US and when I ask that you (those that moved here) to just move back to the motherland (UK) if it's so bad here in the US...oddly, they never do.
Could you help out by asking people over there to stop moving over here? We're full.
[–]ArtoriusXv1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Eh, people like to complain about stuff, they'll never change sadly. I'd like to visit there and see some acquaintances, but I have too much going on at home.
No can do sorry, people here are sick of muslims and other immigrants flooding the place thanks to the EU, so they see the only way out is moving to a different country.
[–]respec-waman 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
You can't have schools if you have shooting ranges because there isn't enough space in the USA for both.
Go home, Moshe; you're drunk.

Yes, but for decades before Twatter existed, what did you call #? Probably not hash.
[–]Mr-Potz5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Nope, always been hash here
[–]Borgmeister4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
No, we literally refer to it as hash (or crosshash if archaic). It's never been referred to as pound in the UK.
[–]SilverGryphon30 points31 points32 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Never knew that, in some parts of Europe it it known as the hash key.
You learn something interesting every day. So this is how the pound me too meme came about. These feminists fucked up big time.
[+][deleted] 8 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link
In the US, I never heard "hash" until "hashtag". No automated system would say "now put in your zip code then press hash". They all say "press pound".
[–]SilverGryphon6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
In my case I always heard "type in your pin code followed by the hash key"
[–]dem_c2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
There is three common meaning for #. * Pound, as weight unit, derivated from abbrevation of Roman term libra pondo. Is to be used after the number, 3# * Hash, used as a symbol, for example to mark metadata in sosial media or comments in unix or python * Number, was first used in bookkeeping to indicate number. Must be used before the number, #3 Of course these are mixed up in different languages and cultures
[–]UrbanEngineer-1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Number me too? Sounds like a registry.
[–]Durrrtyoldman-1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]trimesgistus2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]magx010 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
This is dumb. No one reads out the # sign on Twitter and the "movement" is commonly referred to as the "meetoo" movement.

It's still used, for example when you are on a automated phone system and it tells you to key in your account number then press the pound button.
[–]squidjibo0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
In Australia it's always been hash, never knew it was also known add pound until this thread. Hash 2-1 hash to divert your phone :)
