As I've already told to someone whom will get downvoted into oblivion very soon, and I'll repeat this here just in case no one reads him, and so wouldn't read my replies to him either:

"I have actually watched a video of a circumcision done in an operating block.

And by watched, I mean "closed my eyes and attempted to plug my ears half a minute in to blot out the screams, forgetting I wore headphone and how to take them off, until the screams stopped, and I recovered, glad this was over until I realized the video was still going on and the baby had gone limp in his restraints."

And by "screams", I don't mean "typical upset baby screams". I mean "scream so hard it's interrupted by coughing and choking fits".

Even as I type this, I still hear the screams and am fighting back the instinct to plug my ears to blot them out, for all the good it'll do me."

Actually watching it happen should probably do the trick on anyone not terminally stupid, utterly blind and deaf, or utterly sociopathic. And I say "should probably" because I have tried it with relatives asking me why I felt so strongly about it, and the sheer lack of reaction was... troubling to say the least. But then again, the exact same people cannot understand ideas as simple as "I only "accepted" to have intercourse with my "mother" under threat of being locked up for in a padded cell if I said "no"", or why it was a bad thing to lock me in a padded cage for 48 hours for being "out of control" enough to say "no", so a case can be made for them being terminally stupid.

It is a form of mutilation as circumcision results in a few long term effects. Firstly, the part of the foreskin that is removed, some of it overlaps with the area near the glans responsible for sexual pleasure.

The entire penis is not sensitive to sexual stimulation that leads to orgasm. The shaft and the head do not have the nerve connections for this purpose. It's just a relatively small area just below the head/glans but before the shaft proper.

This is precisely where some of the foreskin is removed in the procedure.

A second side effect is that a circumcised penis' glans will be exposed to life long abrasion and drying and over time develop different skin growth patters to a non-circumcised penis. This doesn't change sensitivity (of specifically the glans which once again do not have those nerve connections that stimulate orgasm, the alternate development of skin exposed to air and clothing abrasion) as far as I'm aware.

"pro"-circumcision interests (in the US, where circumcision is largely culturally secular and IIRC was perpetuated and justified by Kellog through some religious motivation) will attempt justify and even claim it's for the health of the infant/boy. The biggest argument they bring up is that it will reduces risk of STDs.

This is highly debatable at best and most likely false.
It's a long route- but I'll give you a direction you can search towards if you are interested in some of the basis of why, if there is a difference between circumcised and not - it's statistically insignificant.

It's as follows: Set aside circumcision and look up the transmission rates between heterosexual vaginal sex between a man and a woman of HIV. Pay attention to the transmission rate per incident of sex and also pay attention to the slight difference of risk. The chance of a man getting from a woman if she is infected and the chance of a woman getting it from a man. The rates in general IIRC are 0.2% or 0.1% per incidence.

The studies the pro-circumcision crowd will use (they don't use HIV) are even smaller measurable margins than that with very small sample sizes and many of the studies are consider "bad science". I bring it up because it tends to be what they hang their argument on the most - suggesting "we are doing it for their protection" etc. US medical culture will also heavily push to have a baby circumcised for other health reason having to do with the development of the foreskin and/or for hygiene reasons. The former is always over-emphasized beyond the risk and the latter is a case of "Just teach your son to wash himself properly" - usually by the father.

My sister recently had a son and I had an even more involved discussion with her over the issue when she inquired. She elected to not have him circumcised and she had minimal issues. He was diagnosed with a UTI at one point but the hospital, as "punishment" attempted to blame the UTI on that he was not circumcised and my sister didn't want it. When he was born they pushed hard to have him circumcised to the point that my sister had to get angry, just after having given birth, to get them to drop it.

The diagnosed "UTI" after they could not solve the problem after something like 3 treatments ended up having to be re-evaluated. I don't recall exactly what the new diagnosis was, but the diagnostician who figured out what was wrong informed her it wouldn't have mattered if he was circumcised or not after the fact.

The US has a very strange "culture" in it largely secular stance over Circumcision. Read up on John Harvey Kellogg.

Overall media culture in the US treats it as "it doesn't matter either way" but everyone ignores the potential impact circumcision has on later-in-life sexual pleasure.

Then there is the financial incentive for resources.

As for how I convinced my sister? I basically laid out the above and then told her to watch a video on a new born being circumcised.

Don't blame your parents. They are likely ignorant to most if not all of the above. I'm circumcised and I don't blame my parents. However I would not circumcise a son if I had one.

That is one last thing. Condom end use is easier for uncircumcised men when all other things are equal. I'll leave it like that and spare you the specific mechanics and details.

How do you get them to stop? Normally, education would be a good first step but in the western world, that is unlikely to be an answer because of systemic misandry.

I think we need to pass a law stating that anyone approving this kind of male genital mutilation is required to have a piece cut off of him, her, or them. Something with at least an equal number of nerve endings and without the benefit of anesthetic, of course..

It's a stone age tradition left over from when we didn't have enough hot water to wash daily or people were too embarrassed to teach their boys how to clean their private parts.

Ask them how they know it's correct and not a misinterpretation of gods will ? Seems odd to cut off something that god in his infinite knowledge put there .....did god make a mistake when he gave men a foreskin ? I think he was trying to protect the sensitive area........but what do I know right.

I think the best way to convince men is to have them realize that it's unnecessary and that most men in the world are not circumcised. I used to believe all men on Earth were circumcised, even though this is obviously not true. Between that and calling out all the medical misinformation pushed in certain nations, even though most of the developed world doesn't accept those so-called "benefits," we unfortunately just need to let opinion change over time. People need to be willing to question this, even if it was done to them.

I think it is objectively mutilation and many organizations (like the UN) literally define mutilation in a way that encompasses circumcision but then ignore circumcision.

Men are disincentivized to care because the second they recognize that circumcision is mutilation and rape is the second they realize they were mutilated and raped. In a society that will literally shame you and laugh at you for being unhappy about the fact that you were mutilated and raped, it’s easier for these men to block it out of their mind as a defense mechanism. This goes for men’s issues in general. You either care and are persecuted for caring, or spend the rest of your life bottling it up or blocking it into your subconscious mind.

Best way to convince anyone about it is to define genital mutilation, recognize how it included circumcision, and recognize that if female genital mutilation is bad, then male genital mutilation is bad.

The success rate on this will be low, because the world does not care about men or men’s issues.

It’s not mutilation. It’s also not necessary. Adult men who get circumcised as adults notice no problems at all, no change in sexual function.

I’ve been circumcised as an adult for valid medical reasons and by my own choice, was awake during the procedure itself too with local sedatives. And yeah this is very heavy and invasive procedure, no clue how this is normal or even ok in the US. Its very much gender based and genital mutilation for a child.
