de Beauvoir uncritically adopted this Oppressor/Oppressed narrative and placed in on male/female relationships, and she wrote about this in her book, The Second Sex (1949). It postulated that women are the second sex and are inferior to men. This stuck in the minds of women, perhaps simply because women feel like they are inferior to men because of a (now known) higher propensity towards Trait Neuroticism.

In 1792, the first English Feminist, Mary Wollstonecraft wrote in her book On The Vindication Of The Rights Of Women, that women were afforded a special place in society, one not afforded to men. Moreover, she wrote that she agreed with Rousseau (an earlier French philosopher) that women (already) had control over men, but that she wished that women actually had control over themselves.

Feminists have done such a good job at revisionist history, I have to admit even I fell for much of it for some time.

Feminists claim no women could vote prior to 1920 when in fact there were women voting even in colonial America.

Feminists claim women couldn’t work or run businesses both of which are categorically false.

Feminists claim were the legal property if husbands, again false.

Feminists claim women couldn’t have banking accounts prior to 1970 when in fact there were entire women only banks in the 1800s.

Women have always had the privilege of selective service exemption. In early America a husband was responsible for his wife’s debt, but of course the reverse wasn’t true. A married man who owned a home needed his wife’s permission to sell it, a wife who owned property didn’t need her husband’s consent to sell it.

Feminism completely dehumanises men. Quoting Karen Straughan:

Idk man. There was a time when women couldn't vote, have bank accounts, leave home without an escort, and be beaten by their husband's without any means of escape. Kinda sounds like oppression to me, beyond a personal feeling.

To the people in the comments: What people need to remember is that women are not the enemy, and in many ways they have had it worse than men, and in some ways they still do. This isn't a competition, men and women both have problems that deserve to be acknowledged and fought against. Sitting here acting like it has always been men being opressed and feminism has always been nothing but an anti-male hate group is acting the same way modern feminists do about MRAs. It's hypocritical and bullshit.
