I found it funny, but I found it funny because it just proved the already established narrative. Most women want a rich guy. They dismissed all the normal looking guys for the guy chilling on a yacht. This guy showed them a piece of the life he was willing to give them and they fell for it hook line and sinker. I know they were thinking of the money they were giving him as an investment into their own future they would get to live while attached to this guy. That is what I found comical. They played themselves. Men get conned everyday. But that's normal I guess.

Not "funny" as joke funny, but "funny" as in peculiar. Love scams are everywhere and all scams have four steps: (this story)

Roping the sucker (show of wealth)
Telling the tale (security issues)
The send (using her card with her permission)
The blow off (fake cheque)

There's no doubt the guy was a master at it, but while the women were painted as innocent suckers, it actually highlighted hypergamy perfectly. They described the scam as a Ponzi scam and they were correct. The guy was using the money he fleeced from girl A to impress girl B and then girl B's money was used to impress girl C. He was also very clever as the scam was multi-jurisdictional and he got the women to authorise him using the card. He didn't take the details and use it, he used it with their permission.

Yes, women do this to men everyday and there's some horrible statistic about the % of women who go on first dates to get a free meal. There's also a large number of stories of women using men to pay off debt then moving on etc.

The documentary was all about deceptive behaviour. Why "haven’t been any documentaries about it "? Simple, "women are wonderful"

I think what's more prevailing in the dating world is women using men for free meals. That literally happens so much it's become normal. These women have no intention of pursuing you, they're just using you for a free meal. It happens a lot more than you think.

I am a woman and I was dumbfounded by this documentary. Aylee's story was not fully explored but they dated for more than one year so the scam may have been "easier" to pull off, and it is somewhat easier to understand. But Cecilie??? WTF was wrong with that girl to be scammed out of 250k after knowing the guy for like one month and having seen him a handful of times?? She sounded soooo emotionally immature, so sheltered, so egocentric, so brainless. In the beginning I thought Netflix was making Cecilie sound dumber than she actually was and making Simon sound like an obvious Nigerian Prince scam but then I realized the voice messages were REAL and I was like, holy shit how can she be so stupid?? Who in their right mind goes to a hotel on the day of meeting a guy online and then flies with him on a jet and gives them their passport info?? Then people wonder why shit like 50 shades of grey sells.

Anyone who spins this into girl power is smoking something, the only case being made here is that those 3 women (particularly Cecilie) need some sort of legal guardian à la Britney Spears because they use money like and have an understanding of life of a 14-year old. I am almost sure Cecilie will be scammed again (even if in a way minor scale), she learnt nearly nothing from this saga.

Sorry for the rant but I watched the doc yesterday and I am still shocked. They all were after the bling and that is why this scam worked, "love" and "real connection" my ass.

Bro I remember a long time ago I read an article about how when a man is drafted into the NBA,NFL,MLB etc. That a lot of managers give out little books that explain all the crazy shit women will do to hook up with you and hopefully become impregnated. I forgot most of what it says bit i remember it saying to NEVER take a condom that a woman gives you because they poke holes in them. It also said to never flush it down the toilet because the women know that condoms get stuck in the U-trap and will stick their arm into the toilet to retrieve the condom and impregnate themselves with it. Most of these women come from "modeling agencies" that teach these and other techniques.

The women pay to be in these agencies and the agency trains the women in lots of different techniques to get what they want. It's the same agencies that rappers get girls for their videos.

TLTR: Agencies have ninja assassin whores that are trained on how to become impregnated by famous athletes and rappers

It isn't terribly hard to fake the appearance of wealth, either. Get a used Mercedes for about 20k, and a fake Rolex for $100, maybe hit the outlet mall for some nicer clothes. If you have a good printer in your computer you can dummy up a diploma from Yale, a phony hedge fund or tech firm, etc.

Or, far better yet, work hard, work smart, and make responsible financial decisions. Then you can be truly successful, it just takes a little longer. Most women over 30-35 won't care about your age or most anything else if you provide them with a good lifestyle.

Legitimate question as someone who has not seen the documentary but has been told a summary (i.e., man pretends to be rich, gets women to buy things for him/send money based on false claims, vanishes and leaves them with the bill) I have a question. Is this actually a crime, like is he being prosecuted for something? If so, what would it be? Because as shitty of a thing as it is to do that, I can't think of any laws he broke lying to someone to get money from them. They fell for it gave it to him willingly so...
