The claim here is that men aren't responsible these days. They're leaving women to do too much work. Supposedly, that's why women are initiating divorces.

An observation/critique of men is that a significant minority appear to be chasing low n-count, shrinking violet wife material, meanwhile expecting them to be mega anal positive sluts who would never dead-bedroom their husbands.

I agree, the men who expect that, and fall to madonna whore complexes, are essentially chasing conflicting traits. Sounds like a perfectly reasonable critique.

On the same note, is there not a positive correlation between "reliable"/"responsible"/"consistent" and boring?

Reliability, responsibility, consistency, all sound like positive traits, but these things undeniably make for "predictability". What makes things boring, primarily, is predictability. Lack of novelty and challenge.

(EDIT: Before anyone claims that the traits dont necessarily preclude each other ("NARMALT! -- Not all responsible men are like that!"), I'm hypothesizing that this is correlative, not that you won't EVER be able to find high performing men who have the time and energy sharpness to handle all their shit while also doing the chores and also having time to have interesting hobbies and learn interesting things to talk about once in a while. Someone who is perfectly responsible and handles all his shit has less time, to say the least.)

While OP does decry lack of responsibility, IME, women reject and dump men for being boring. Women I've dated or befriended told this to me explicitly. That is also given as common advice in PPD. I don't disagree with any of it.

But if too many women are going to complain about men not pulling their weight around the house or pulling their financial weight, it's going to make a lot of men suspect that women are putting lower value on "responsible behaviour" (such as providing financial security and responsibility for household duties) and putting higher value on caddish, exciting charm. They want conflicting traits, but when it came time to choose, they put alpha traits (caddish, charming) above beta traits (responsible/reliable, consistency).

EDIT2:

Take a man who comes home dutifully to his wife after his 9-6 work day to help with the chores and take care of their 2 kids and also checks in on his sick mom every so often.

Take that same man, and make him instead go out and have fun after his 9-6, learn new things, try new hobbies, play some games/sports with his friends, network, etc. His wife (same wife) can take care of the kids anyway, and claims she's fine. He'll seem less responsible, but he'll obviously have more interesting/novel experiences over time. He'll be marginally less boring.
