I'm in a LTR, we have some troubles here and there, but it's REALLY difficult not to share with my friends because they don't approve. Things like:

1) My boyfriend is a freelancer, he doesn't make as much money as a corporate guy but the benefit is I find him more interesting and more independent. He does seem to work more hours than the average 9-5pm, but again he's very independent and ambitious for himself. However, my friends say "money is sooooo important it's better to date a corporate guy."

2) My boyfriend is a simple man, I loved him for this, for instance we stay home and I cook for him or when we do go out to eat, it's to these cheap dive places that are delicious. However my friends say things like "Oh he should work to give you expensive dinners, he doesn't love you if he's taking you to cheap places."

3) I work but my career is not so important or high paying, it's just a way to make some money, and I'm willing to give up my current position (which is a little cushier than usual but only for now) to get married. But friends are saying "oh he should let you keep your job and he should find a better job in your location instead of you giving up yours to be with him."

Is this toxic feminism? Because if my friends didn't say these things, I wouldn't be so concerned about it, and to be honest I wasn't concerned in the first place until they started saying these things to me.
