This may be a controversial post, but fuck it, needs to be said.

Summary: TRP is apolitical, and why. TRP is about pragmatic solutions to real-world situations, about not playing the victim. Such pragmatic solutions demand a dispensation of rigid ideology that seeks to use us for its own purposes.

 

The Left is eating itself. But hold your horses there, Scooter, the Right has a tendency to do the same thing.

We should be clear that the problem in the last fifty years for the Left was an influx of modern progressive liberals and social justice warriors, not classical liberals. And unfortunately, it only seems to be getting worse (see Sargon of Akkad's The Cancer in the Left).

Those modern progressives are basically extremists, and have about as much in common with traditional liberal principles as tea partiers in the U.S. have with traditional conservative ideals. Most of Western civilization is founded on classical liberal principles, which are incumbent throughout modern conservative and liberal ideologies. Really, we are all mostly some variant of classical liberals in the modern West, even the conservatives.

What fucked things up, like usual, were that extremists were able to infiltrate and hijack things. In this case, it was extremists on the left that basically hijacked classical liberal ideals. The cultural Marxists, if you will. Much like world-war-2 era fascists hijacked conservative ideals. It's ironic how much the two have in common, hence the Horseshoe Theory.

Victim mentality is part of the accepted philosophy in the modern Western world. Everyone else is to blame, not ourselves. The reality is that both ends of the political spectrum are just as bad about pointing the finger, blaming others for their struggles in life. It's one thing to critique, it's another thing to use it as an excuse. The left blames the patriarchy or sexism, the right blames homosexuals or atheism. Blah blah blah.

Perhaps this is the cause of the Rise of the Cultural Libertarians …

 

I had this conversation a week or two ago with /u/Archwinger, where he pointed out that TRP is really about building powerful men. A truth I think.

I would simply add, the reality is that powerful men are free thinkers.

They are not beholden to any ideology. They do not follow simply because someone says they should. No, he cuts his own path. Forges his own trail. He may listen to others’ suggestions, but he does not blindly follow them. You don’t lift, for instance, just cause someone here at TRP tells you to (apologies in advance to GLO) … you do it cause you try it for yourself and see results. Seriously, don’t take our word for it. Try it yourself. Or any of the rest – IDGAF, abundance mentality, holding frame, amused mastery – try it. See for yourself. It’s an empirical approach. And sure, there may be exceptions – but remember, the exception does not invalidate the rule.

A red pill man is a powerful man, in that he is not chained to the ideas of others. He is not chained to the behavior or expectations of others, women included. Enlightenment, true enlightenment, comes from within. Only a sheep follows the shepherd, a wolf never does.

 

This does not imply that the Red Pill is necessarily democratic … it is not.

We do encourage debate and discussion here, just so long as it remains within bounds. TRP, as a philosophy, rests on a number of axioms and assumptions. Feminism does as well ... so do Stoicism, Rationalism, etc. Those base axioms and assumptions are not "provable" in any empirical sense, never will be. This is true of all logical systems. Even mathematics is based on unprovable axioms, such as was the basis of Godel's Incompleteness Theorem (check out Godel, Escher, Bach for a fascinating read on this).

The point is that any philosophy or logical system must rest on some basic assumptions and axioms. Arguing with people about those assumptions is pointless, and a waste of time. A distraction. Do you argue with people about whether "math is real" because it relies on untestable assumptions? No, that's a waste of time, because in the end math is useful. It helps us solve problems. That's what matters. Much the same for TRP.

 

The struggle isn't against any particular ideology. The struggle is against extremism in any form. Pragmatic solutions require a pragmatic approach. A dispensation of ideology that seeks to use us for its own purposes. A middle path. This is why TRP is apolitical.

We should keep TRP apolitical. At the end of the day, aligning with any side only pushes us toward embracing some extremist views, whether they be right or left (a la the aforementioned Horseshoe Theory). TRP, at its core, is about pragmatic solutions. Extreme political viewpoints are not really congruent with that. They are about pointing the finger at someone else, blaming, playing the victim. If we all at TRP share one common viewpoint, it is a rejection of the modern pandemic of "victim mentality". Don't sit around and whine and cry and make excuses, raise yourself up.
