You're right! Men are physically stronger than women, yes, that's why traditionally only men are obligated to go to war.
But, what's your point here? We all know why only men are obligated to enlist, that's not up for debate. A lot of men (and people in general) find this unfair as only one gender is obligated to put their life on the line if there's war.
I swear there is little to no middle ground with opinions about this. It's either "society is so unfair to men because we have to go to war to die or be traumatized for life by obligation, and women don't have to" or "war is very manly and only men should go to war because women weak and men strong", no in between.

Especially if they wanna be a medic.

Not everyone is on the frontlines though lol… only a small fraction of the military actually sees combat and not everyone deploys to a combat location. You can join like I did and work on airplanes 6,000 miles away from danger. I know dudes that have been in 20 years about to retire without once leaving the country. If the world has gone so far to shit that the Army and Marines have all gone down, bombs won’t fix it, negotiating won’t fix it, and they need me, an aircraft maintainer to be on the front lines when I qualify on my weapon every 48 months than we’re fucked lmao.

That’s not true at all lol. There’s not a lot of careers that see combat in the military. You don’t need to pursue higher education in the military at all if you don’t want to. Education has nothing to do it with at all. There’s more enlisted and more enlisted jobs in than military than officer jobs and enlisted jobs don’t require any education. You can be an officer which requires a college degree and be in a career that deploys often/sees combat… like a fighter pilot or infantry officers…

US Marine Active Duty from '96-00.
At the time there was about 5% women in the marines, so 1/20.
Of the women whom I worked with, maybe 20 women total, there were 2 women who stood out.
One of the women was "hardcore". She was as strong as the men and wanted to be treated the same in all aspects. She packed the same gear, chose to be physically tested with the same tests. She drank with the guys, swore with the guys, and was treated as one of the guys. She was married to a civilian man and wore a wedding ring; she wasn't the type that allowed men to catcall to her. My unit allowed this woman only, to be involved in all missions, no matter the physical requirements or personal comfort expected during the mission.
The second female Marine was not exceptionally physically fit but was honest about the disparity. She would be honest when asked about her experiences and how they differed from a typical male Marine's experiences. She told us she was happy that the physical standards for her were easier than male marine physical standards. She often worked in administrative roles, typing, contacting people on the phone, scheduling, and other office work. She once told the guys that the female marines had many "makeup classes" in boot camp. She did not go on many missions with the guys and was not treated like a guy. She wasn't treated badly, just differently. She accepted her differences and did well in the roles she was assigned.
En masse, women Marines wanted to be treated the same as men socially, and with promotions, but did not want to be expected to perform to the same level as the men. Most women Marines complained about equality, even though they were unwilling or unable to carry the same equipment, and unwilling to be in physically uncomfortable settings during missions.
I am all for having women in the military. There should be minimum physical standards that all military members must exceed. Additionally, there should be higher standards for different jobs: a person with an office job does not need to be able to physically carry a 40 lb pack and 80 lbs of weaponry. Whether male or female, less physically able people still provide valuable service to the military. Maybe only strong men make good infantry, but most of these men would not be able to properly schedule deliveries, or write after-action reports.
[–]isaac99999999 20 points21 points22 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Ah you see the army is replacing the old pt test with a new one. One of the major points of the new one was that it no longer cared about age or gender, just your ability. Then in testing they noticed a disproportionate amount of women failing the test, and there are talks of making it gender based again
[–]Hercules-Mulligan13 points 4 years ago [recovered] (4 children) | Copy Link

[–]ZevsHeadSlave 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
You have to let them back into society at some point is the thing. It's already bad enough reintegrating them into a peaceful setting.
[–]hellraisinhardass 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Na. Use them tell they bleed out, burn out or get blown up. Then just buy new ones. It would save us a fortune in veterans' benefits. (Here's the /s if you needed it.)
Damn right! I've been saying this for years! Don't drug test Marines, Rangers, SEALs or even firefighters for steroids, or cocaine. We want them to be over aggressive, yoked-up, hard-charging, door kicking motherfuckers. "Well what happens when you use Marines for 'policing actions'?" Uh, they are Marines, not peace keepers- don't use a battle axe to shave, don't burp a baby with a sledgehammer.
I have a female friend who is in the military and she has told me the same thing that you just said. She works really hard to stay fit and pass it but has told me that it is in a constant state of change because of how many women are failing the new test.

The different PT tests used to bother me when I'd see them do it. I kept thinking to myself, "what if I'm shot and the only one around is a woman that needs to get me out of the line of fire and she can barely do an arm hang?"
The only reason I was against women in the infantry is because I know my unit was filled with complete shitbags, but that's what you get with a grunt unit. It's the MOS no one wants. It's just one more distraction in the field.

They need to have female only units. As a Veteran, I learned from very good advice from a mentor. He told me to never be alone with any woman anywhere that isn't a girlfriend/wife. All it takes is you being accused to ruin your life, your career, and your freedom. Any time I had to counsel a female, the door was open to my office, and I had my senior non-commissioned officer in the office with me.
[–]RunikVarze 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I agree to an extent. In the military, the burden of proof should still be on the accuser, not the accused. It's supposed to be that way everywhere. The problem is that people talk. So, I think there should be a law that criminalizes the public discussion of rape accusations for active cases. Technically it is slander, but nobody bothers to pursue it.
[–]thefudmaster 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
They also need to stop publicizing the names of the accused, are innocent until proven guilty, but that will never happen either. The only time names should be published with pictures is after a conviction.
[–]RunikVarze 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
At this point, I think news outlets just need to be banned from rape proceedings entirely because they can't uphold the tenets of our judicial system and they take no responsibility for their role in destroying lives.
[–]hellraisinhardass 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
All it takes is you being accused to ruin your life, your career,
Yep. I know a fire dept chief who's stellar career came to a screeching halt because of this. One woman made two separate accusations against him. One was bullshit for sure- he put his hand on her lower back/upper butt when she was wearing full turnout gear to keep her from falling backwards off a ladder during a training drill...I've literally shoved male recruits up ladders holding 2 handfuls of ass, or even with my shoulder jammed under their ass. The second complaint was about something he said to her during a closed door meeting 1 on 1 meeting- so there was no witnesses, her word (a shitbag, unreliable, self-absorbed attention seeker) vs his (an absolute by-the-book, team before self type guy)....guess whose word mattered.

The draft is a failsafe, so when someone inevitably fails to staff the military sufficiently because of budget constraints (Biden) the next person can overturn that problem immediately and get us back on track. And now it's actually going to be fair about it? I'm hyped!

Registering for the draft is why men commit 95% of murders?
[–]RunikVarze 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
First off, that statistic is wrong. Second off, no. I was using hyperbole. Men are only mildly more violent than women. The difference is men are better at it due to biological factors and what is considered violence.
Lots of people, for example, think a woman can't hurt a man and don't think it's violence for a woman to slap her significant other. It's complete nonsense. Striking someone with the intent to cause them harm or pain qualifies as violence. Basically, if they would have put you in time-out for it in preschool, don't do it as an adult.
[–]aelasercat -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
ISIS does care what's between their legs, that's one of the things they're fighting for.
I don't care if they use a lighter pack, the fighting will weed out the unfit.
The problem I see with your logic is that if they're unfit, they make problems for the people who are fit. If someone is going to trust these women with their life, they deserve to know that those women are as capable and ready as anyone else, and held to the same standard.
I knew some fantastic people during my own time with the military. Women who outperformed many of the guys who were there. Even outperformed me on a few occasions. They refused to be held to lower standards and went out of their way to perform at the same level even when it was not required. Those are the women I admire most, because of the sheer willpower they showed.
Basically, a job is a job, and lower standards don't produce better results.

If you're going to have mandatory military service, it should certainly apply to all. People will be quick to jump on women being unsuitable for combat roles, but that's neither a valid justification for non-participation, nor representative of the diversity in roles and responsibilities that exist in the armed forces. The IDF has mandated military service for women for a long time, and yet only sees 4% of them in combat roles, with the rest in administrative and supporting roles. As both Israel and the US are increasingly shifting towards drones and other remote methods of engagement, this issue of combat readiness becomes even less of an issue.

In September 2013, Switzerland held a referendum to abolish military conscription of men. However, the referendum failed with over 73% of the electorate voting against it, showing strong support for conscription of men in Switzerland.
Women were allowed to vote in this referendum.

[–]vitrucid 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Not to mention the question about women in combat roles is just good old sexism and lack of faith in enforcing standards. The best way to have a strong military is to leave it open to everyone and boot those who can't make the cut, regardless of gender or anything else. If we nail down the standards and enforce them, nothing is lost if a few of us are women.

WW3 is going to be a funny time for the world. China is likely to win the war militarily then collapse because their economy relies on globalistic trade that will not resume as the losers of the war will be to economically depressed to engage in global trade.
[–]drod004 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Just curious why do you believe china will win?
[–]Nevek_Green 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
There are a multitude of reasons why China will prevail in WW3 that this could become an essay, so I'll limit it to three big ones. Economy, Relations, and Military.
Relations
China has military arrangements with Iran, Syria, Russia, and North Korea. They have economic ties with Australia, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Myanma,r New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam. To name a few. They have arrangements with numerous Asian, Middle Eastern, and African countries as part of the Belt and Road Initiative. Add to that they are a member of BRICS and have peaceful relations with the Arab League.
By contrast to curtail China the US can call upon Japan who are courting both sides and will likely side with China to avoid a nuclear strike. Australia whose military is grossly underprepared for a war (this is in their news and is a huge issue as they now realize they might need to go to war with China and don't have the capacity to fight that war). South Korea whose capital will be obliterated by North Korean artillery within the first 24 hours of the war. India though not a direct ally are readying for war with China and can actually put up a fight. And a few minor nations in the Pacific who will fall without a year of the war's start if they don't side with China at the outset or remain neutral.
The US is not popular in the Middle East so we can expect our Saudi Allies to abandon us. Turkey has already driven the US out of one military base, so they will not side with the US. Iran and Syria will work together with the Taliban who are reaching out to China right now to drive the US from the Middle East. Iran's missiles are accurate enough they can wipe out the fifth fleet if it is harbored at the start of the war. The remaining military positions will be struck hard and the US will not have much of an opportunity to counter strike.
Russia has a defense pack with Syria who has a defense pact with Iran who has an alliance with China, so Russia will enter the Middle Eastern Theater either directly or by offering support. This will dissuade nations from siding with the US. The United Arab Emirates has signed a non-hostility pack with Iran after they realized a war with Iran would be fought on their soil. Israel is the wild card as they have nukes. It will be in their best interest to sign a peace accord with China and even if they don't their military is a joke. Their special forces are some of the best in the world. By contrast their conventional military cannot even win sneak attacks and they wear diapers because they cannot hand the stress of conflict. Israel is also primed for a civil war between the Conservative Faction and the Zionist Faction. In short we cannot count on them regardless of how things play out with them.
Asia and the Middle East being a complete loss we'd have to rely on our allies in NATO who are all dependent on Russian gas and oil. Along with Iranian and Saudi Oil. Russia merely has to hold the line and turn off their pipeine for one winter and they'll win the war due to revolts by populations already primed against what they believe are despotic governments. France is a lost cause. Germany has so many Arabs infiltrators they'll be crippled. What is left of our allies will be dealing with economic issues to muster much aid.
On continent, Canada is a joke and Mexico won't help so within a year or two the war will be on US soil.
Military
China has strong regional allies and partnerships. Their military is also equipped and capable of winning a multifront war. Something the US military has stated they are incapable of doing.
The US has more advanced military capacity, but as analysts have said that doesn't matter if we are cut off from fuel and resources. We have no defense against a severe cyber attack, inflitrators sabotaging key infrastructure, nor can the military afford to fight a world war and fight states succeeding from the Union.
Russia has pledged they will help any group attempting to break off or fight the central US government. Breakaway nations can expect Russian protection, equipment, and manpower to fight any attempts at reunification by force.
Economics
China over the past decade plus has established a new global central bank and financial institution with the capacity to print a new silver backed global reserve currency. At the outset of the war China will activate these institutions and formally break away from US controlled institutions resulting in the US Dollar hitting Weimar Germany levels of value.
The dollar relies on its global reserve status to have value. Due to quantative easing it has been printed into a state where it isn't worth the ink on the paper. Without the dollar the US will not be capable of waging a campaign. Imagine the Soviet Union trying to wage a war with the US at the same time they cannot afford gas to get their vehicles or planes back to the homeland. That's what it will be like for the US.
China is also positioned to survive the collapse of the global economy thanks to their strong authoritarianism. The US by contrast deprived of goods to keep their citizens pacified will likely splinter.
-
Now the good news is China is one major crisis away from dissolving into another warring states period. Each region of China effectively hates the other, and faith in the central government after two years of infrastructure destruction and food shortages is at all time low levels.
If China makes it through WW3, which is a big if given someone can have the brain power to blow up their Hydro dams and destroy half the countries infrastructure from the floods, they will face a world incapable of importing Chinese goods.
That doesn't mean China is destined to die like the US. They can turn to imperialism and resettlement in Africa and the freshly conquered Australia, and Pacific Region. Offloading disodents while promoting it as the new era of Chinese expansionism.
World War three will reshape the world as we know it. The United States will cease either to be or cease being a global super power. The European Union without the US's backing will be subjected to the whims of Russia and China as the EU cannot afford their own military force. The EU will likely dissolve. For us regular folks, things may get hard for awhile so have emergency food and water purification for your family.
Hope that helps, but there is a thousand more things that can be discussed on the topic.

That's the entire point of the legislation. The deep state needs a financial reset, along with a population reduction. Now, they can eliminate the population equally through war. And when it's time to rebuild, they will be the financiers, effectively owning the populace. That's the end game. Believe it.

Well in all seriousness, the last time military draft was there, people were relatively healthy and in shape. With HAES going on, and majority of population being obese, drafting would not be that easy
[–]NotAmericanDontCare 12 points13 points14 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Draft the fatties first as a meat shield.
Drafting all the young fit population, and leaving all the unhealthy dole bludgers would absolutely ruin the economy, even if they won the war.

This is what happens when you fight for the same responsibilities a man has. Don't cry now
Own it.
[–]SquatDeadliftBench 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This is equality. Now, since women can abort or abandon a child by giving it up to the state, give men the right to give up all responsibilities to that child. This will make people more responsible. You want to have a kid? Does your partner want to be with you? Will they help you raise that kid? If the answer to any of those are no, will you shouldn't be having a kid. Crazy that a man is forced to pay child support but a woman is allowed to abort or give up the kid to the state without any say from the man.
I'm 1000% for female reproductive rights, but only if man get equal rights too.

It's hardly surprising to see that they want the right to join the military but then get upset when told they might have to actually fight and die..

[–]akihonj 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
No-one does and that's the point, nobody wants to be eligible for the draft except there are too many feminists who shout about being equal, being equal to men and then screech about women being eligible for the draft when told they are equal to men.
[–]Gandalf-TheEarlGrey 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Umm yeah? Cause consent matters yet again.
If any women wants to join the military she should be allowed to and I will fight for her right to join.
But I am against any kind of draft for men and women. Draft is forcing people to join the military and die, I am not for that.
Is that too hard to understand?
That's a fair viewpoint, even if I disagree with it. The people we're calling out are the ones who are fine with the old draft and are only throwing a tantrum now that it includes women. Those people exist in droves and do not hold a fair, respectable stance. Everyone or no one, that's all we wanted.
[–]anonymage556 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Women only ask for equality where they don't get their asses fcked up. Office jobs, college (not a job but you get it), leaderships, those kinds of jobs. But they don't give a fk about manual labor, like working in a construction site or going down a sewer for maintenance. In the armed forces is the same. They won't complain if they get on the highest ranks, but they don't want be mere privates and get their asses shot like most men do.
Women say they're oppressed, but they only compare themselves to a fraction of men. The majority of men working on manual labor they don't even see.
[–]670616629mph 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I like the title, even though it's spelled wrong. Women want to have equal rights, but don't want to recognise that what comes with equal rights is equal responsibility. Women don't want to be objectified but they sell their naked bodies for money. Women want to be treated equally but are extremely sexist towards men. Women don't want criticised but the go to insult against a man is about his appearance. People have become so hypocritical now, as to put it the nicest way possible. I don't hate all women, but many don't understand the smallest thing about being "equal".

[–]NotAmericanDontCare 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

Plenty of countries have a very good reason for compulsory military service.

A lot of left wingers think in this day and age its impossible for something like that to happen to them. When, today is the scariest time for that to happen. It will happen, its just a matter of when. Its human nature and all you have to do is read a history book to understand its coming.
Its easier to just look at what kind of weapons and training and soldiers they have. If its not a possibility why have all that? Its the greatest possibility when you have the most of it.

[–]AmaZeeJvn -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Compulsory military service is the only option for a lot of countries... you know that right? It's not as simple as that. Without mandatory military service for men in my home country chances are it wouldn't even exist today.
It's easy to say that from your perspective but you don't know how bad some countries have it with declining birth rates, too many retirees, dwindling workforce, small military, shitty economy, etc.

Women didn't much care about ending the draft until advocacy began to include them in it.
It's an example of how men's issues are treated in society. Ignored until it negatively impacts people who aren't men, and then it suddenly needs to be addressed.
Women turn a blind eye for centuries and only start caring when arguments were made for them to step up too. That is also an example of hypocrisy.

HRC was just saying traditionally after a war women were the ones left over widowed or childless, had to hold broken families together, had to pick up the pieces of civilization in their city/village, and generally sweep up the mess. Men also start 99% of wars. Imagine if women started all the wars, lol, they would’ve gotten to war started #2 when the men would’ve rebelled and killed them saying “fuck all this!”. BUT, her saying women are the real victims is hyperbole, it’s hard to be more victimized then laying in a trench with your head opened up like a melon. But then I come back around to men start all this shit so everyone not a man is the victim because they had no say. But most men have no say in war too. I have no idea what I’m talking about, too stoned for this mess.

HRC was just saying traditionally after a war women were the ones left over widowed or childless, had to hold broken families together, had to pick up the pieces of civilization in their city/village, and generally sweep up the mess.
Yep, and the men aren't really the victims of war, because they don't have to do all of that rough work.
Or see their wives. Or watch their children growing up.
Because they're dead.
Yeah, women are the real victims here.
Get out of here with that load of absolute horseshit.
Because 3 men in very nice suits in rooms decide to send hundreds of thousands of men to their deaths, those men aren't victims? What the Kentucky fried fuck kinda cracked logic are you vomiting?
The perpetrator has no bearing on the victim. And the idea that women are the real victims because they have to live on after the men in their lives give up everything they have is straight up fucked. Shame on you and your victim blaming bullshit.

Jesus fucking Christ, that's how communication works. Should I only talk about things you didn't say? It would sure make it easier for you to not have any of your dumbass points challenged, I would wager.
But that isn't how it works.
[–]Gandalf-TheEarlGrey -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
I mean that kind of makes sense no?
Marginalized groups will protest about how they are being marginalized and sought to fix that.
That doesn't makes other issues less important.
Also draft was protested by both men and women during Vietnam War. Men burnt their draft letters. Women participated in protests.
There hasn't been much talk of the draft lately because it has not been exercised since the 70s.
Also why aren't you blaming men for ignoring men's issues? The biggest obstacle to men talking about feeling isn't women, it's other men.
Ironically you hit one of the core criticisms that feminists have made against patriarchy i.e. it affects both women and men.
"Men should be tough", "Men should not cry", "Men don't talk about their feelings" is because of patriarchy not women.
[–]Talik1978 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link
Marginalized groups will protest about how they are being marginalized and sought to fix that. That doesn't makes other issues less important.
Yes. It does. You literally choose what is important to you by how you spend your time, money, and focus. And looking at those? They didn't care about these problems until they were personally inconvenienced.
If it's "just as important, as long as I don't have to think or do anything"?
It isn't just as important.
So you want to ride the coattails of something that was done, in small part, by your grandparents? And which was primarily protests about the war?
I'm guessing you're a Cowboys fan.
There has been discussed in the 50's. The 60's. The 70's. It was brought to the US Supreme Court in the 80's. And the 90's. The 2000's. The 2010's.
It has been challenged many times. It has been brought forth, primarily by men's rights activists, which feminism has consistently and broadly opposed. Even in the 2016 elections, HRC refused to answer a question about including women in the draft.
Paltry advocacy for inclusion. And when it's brought up, the primary talking point is "we should get rid of all drafts". Conveniently, such a stance is only brought up by feminists when people suggest women be conscripted.
And finally, after centuries of sending men only to mass slaughter, the "progressives" come around to what those "goddamn chauvinist mra's" have been saying for 4 decades... and they want a gold star?
Nah, fuck that. And fuck any fake progressive that only worries about the equality that directly benefits them. Real progressives help address inequality because it's wrong. Not because there's something in it for them.
You're aware that mothers are far more likely to tell their sons not to cry and to be tough than fathers?
Keep telling yourself that the patriarchy and women are mutually exclusive, champ.
[–]Gandalf-TheEarlGrey 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I meant less important in terms of societal view not personal. Yes personal view everyone has different priorities and will protest accordingly.
If you open a NGO to help world hunger that doesn't mean at a societal level malaria is any less important, it just means that YOU as a person want to focus on world hunger.
Other people who deem malaria more important can and do pick that up.
Expecting one group to protest and fund every injustice in the world is an impossible standard.
It has been challenged many times. It has been brought forth, primarily by men's rights activists,
What was the demand? Removal of draft or expansion of draft to include women?
which feminism has consistently and broadly opposed.
If men's rights were fighting for removal of draft and feminist groups opposed it, I would love to see some sources.
Here's the thing. Draft sucks. It should be abolished. Any expansion of it to include a group will be criticized by that group BUT if you labeled it as "We want to remove the draft completely, are you with us?" then you will have support.
Conveniently, such a stance is only brought up by feminists when people suggest women be conscripted.
Yes because women will be included this time.
Here's the thing feminist groups want to fix problems affecting women just as men's groups want to fix problems affecting men and LGBT groups want to fix problems affecting LGBT and same for race.
Every group sees some sort of injustice/discrimination/ignorance of issues against their group and sort to fight for it.
Where were men's rights groups when barbaric abortion laws were passed in Texas? Fucking nowhere. Does that mean men's right support those laws? Fuck no.
I am sure those groups don't like those laws as well but they are spending time and effort fighting different things such as increasing suicide rates among men.
Every group has their own priority, that doesn't make other things at a societal level any less concerning.
Your entire point is basically arguing why Trevor Project is not doing anything about malaria in Africa and World Hunger Project isn't doing a thing about teens at drug risk.
[–]Talik1978 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Oh, you mean 'just as important, as long as someone else does it. Oh, and when they try, we will desce d upon them like hungry wolves and label them 'the problem' ".
Yeah, that's not "just as important". If it doesn't get equal focus, time, attention, and resources from society, then society doesn't consider it as important. That works on a societal scale too.
And if 25,000 NGOs are opened to combat world hunger, and 2 charities to fight malaria are founded, and many world hunger advocates begin active campaigns to discredit people fighting malaria?
That does. Individual choices don't impact what society cares about. Many individual choices do. And many individual choices have been that injustices happening to men are a myth, or not worthy of societal effort.
So stop with the misdirection. Dishonesty doesn't suit you.
Strawman much? Are you trying to set some world record for how many fallacies you can put into a single post? I have quite enough words in my mouth. You are neither invited nor welcome to add any. You speak to what you believe, and let me speak to my assertions.
More dishonesty.
War sucks too. So do police. And crime. And poverty. We should abolish them all!
Your words are as grounded in reality as cotton candy shitting unicorns being ridden by leprechauns.
No shit, the draft sucks. So does triage. And it is my fervent hope that it is never needed. But if it is needed, a goddamned plan better be in place, and we should do our best to not assign all the "go and die" roles to men.
Where were men's rights groups when barbaric abortion laws were passed in Texas?
Fighting to be heard. Don't ask why the drowning person isn't saving others. Men's rights groups are actively attacked by the groups you say want to help address their causes.
And yours is how feminists really want to help men. Feminists don't hate men. Don't pay attention to Pauline Harmange, feminist author of "I Hate Men".
And feminists don't want to erase male victims of domestic violence. Just don't pay attention to Katherine Spillar, executive editor of Ms. magazine and co-founder of the Feminist Majority Foundation, when she exhorted people to call domestic violence what it really is... Men hitting women.
Nope, feminism is the white knight riding in to save men and the MRA's
Just dont pay attention to Chanty Binx, a.k.a. Big Red, who told men's activists to shut the fuck up so she could read her manifesto on how they aren't needed. Clearly someone who wants to make sure we all have an equal voice.
Don't talk to me about how feminism is a universal.force for equality. It isn't. It only advocates for women's issues. The "men's issues" it pushes are areas where those problems are a problem for women too.
So you are right. These groups focus on women's issues. Thus, they cannot be a voice for equality. Voices for equality focus on equality, regardless of who benefits.
[–]Gandalf-TheEarlGrey -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
'just as important, as long as someone else does it. Oh, and when they try, we will desce d upon them like hungry wolves and label them 'the problem' ".
Yet again no proof of the latter. I know I am on the sub "women bad" but c'mon atleast pretend to be fair.
many world hunger advocates begin active campaigns to discredit people fighting malaria?
Again your bias. See everyone can make up points to make themselves look right.
You speak to what you believe, and let me speak to my assertions.
Hey your thought process would be great on r/conspiracy. They love these kind of statements too. You have your truth, I have mine.
But if it is needed, a goddamned plan better be in place, and we should do our best to not assign all the "go and die" roles to men.
And that's the point. Draft acts as a safety check against US foreign policy to wage war willy-nilly.
And that's why there are calls for it to be abolished.
US government has to really consider whether going to war is required because they have only 500k soldiers and recruitment maybe slow during war instead of not having to worry about bodies for the war because they can just pick citizens.
The rest of your comment is not even worth even addressing.
You aren't upset feminists/progressives don't have an opinion on the draft, you are upset that they don't share YOUR opinion on the draft and that makes the devil.
Gee women are horrible because they don't share a man's opinion. Yup equality on full display here.
What I expected from this sub. Carry on your women hate. Good day.
Ha! First: you want a researched and peer reviewed article? Pay me for my fucking time. You are not entitled to have me spoon feed you a god damn thing. If you are curious, put forth a little god damn effort.
Your ignorance is evidence of how much you care that your precious ideology is actually pushing equality. Keep spouting your talking points, and make entitled, self righteous demands of others, holding them to a standard you fail to live up to yourself.
I neither know nor care to know your gender. But fuck your entitlement. I don't owe you a god damn thing. Least of all my time.
Must be real easy to win arguments when you dictate what both sides say, and then call conspiracy theory on people that inform you they have enough words in their mouth, without you adding yours. Go fuck yourself, liar.

[–]Dugadugabow 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
And how would you know if they NEVER said a thing about the draft before?
[–]CazRaX 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Show me the social media posts like the ones that complain about the draft for women. You can say you support it but in this day in age if it's not online do you really support it?

You didnt understood the reference. Its from a sci-fi movie in the future where men and women can choose to become citizen by enlisting in the army. Do you know the movie now??
I want to know more!

I can’t imagine the draft being ever used again. The last time was in ‘73 and the US military is so bloated it wouldn’t even be necessary

It's not a law yet. It just passed to be added on the National Defense Authorization Act by a committee yesterday, and it will still need to be voted on by both the House and the Senate along with being signed into law by the President.
[–]jnbolen403 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Senator, how do you vote to implement the draft of men? Aye.
And to implement the draft of women? Uhh maybe we need to talk about this war again.
[–]DoomerMentality1984 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Right-wingers we’re getting mad at this (like the Daily Wire people). They were saying “NOOOO!!! NOT PUR DAUGHTERS!!!! WHY WOULD WE EXPOSE THEM TO THE HORRORS OF WAR THAT MEN CREATED???” I don’t get it. Either say “no draft” for anyone, or just include everyone.
I wish no one would have to fight, but if a war started and there HAD to be a draft, then include everyone.
Not that hard.
[–]Reddyeh 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The real equality would be not having a draft at all.
[–]kvan1234567 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This is an old and outdated rule. The draft should be retired. It is appalling that the government can make a choice like this for you in the first place. I’m all for love of country but it’s just midevil to think that we are obligated to die for it. No thanks. I’ll gladly move.
[–]vitrucid 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I have been saying this should happen for years and I feel so fucking vindicated now. It was an archaic, discriminatory distinction and I'm fucking disgusted that there are still people saying "I don't like forcing women to fight our wars" while being totally silent on it being totally possible to force men to fight a war. Men aren't magically immune to negative psychological effects of combat like PTSD or, you know, fucking bulletproof because they have testosterone. You don't want to send "our daughters into combat" but you're cool sending our sons? STFU, either we're equal or we're not and if we are, this needed to happen a long time ago.
But hey, we were right. All these bitches salty now that it's changed. Even the exact wording we predicted: "That's enough equality for today." Because they don't want equality, they want preferential treatment. Useless pieces of shit. I did love when someone online came at me sideways about it asking how I'd feel about being drafted because joke's on them, I'm into that shit. I'm a tanker. But this is a good thing.

[–]CarpeDiem96 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Doesn’t matter. They won’t draft women. Do you want someone whose range of effectiveness sits around 90-100% or people who will occasionally fall to 70-80% effectiveness every month or so?
Stronger more violent soldiers or less muscle massed more passive soldiers.
Register ladies but enjoy being the “farer” sex. No ones putting you on the frontline. Maybe as crewmen or logistics drivers. But for real. No equality.
[–]Gaiinahat 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]APT69420 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
Equality doesnt negate centuries of discrimination.
For Equity, only women should be forced into the draft for a while.
That seems fair.
[–]QuestionsInAnswers 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago* (6 children) | Copy Link
Sure. You cool with women taking about 70% of political positions of power, taking away men's right to vote for 140 years, and being the next 46 presidents?
[–]surlyT 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Wow, that line of thinking went down the conspiracy hole pretty quickly.
Or were you explaining your version of history in reverse.
[–]QuestionsInAnswers 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
...conspiracy hole?
I'm replying to the idea that if women have to 'make up' get discrimination of not being in the draft, then it's only fair if men 'make up' their discrimination in political power.
I mean hell, if you really want to focus on laws and not just general sexism, I'll take just only women get to vote for 140 years.

You guessed it, use their pussy to get them out of work.
They will sleep w/ male soldiers or higher ups to get pregnant so they don’t have to fight in the war & get special treatment.

Yeah. When you run out of men like the Soviet Union in WW2.
[–]RurikTheDamned 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link
Russia didn't run out of men, it just had women being able to join.
[–]n00bca1e99 -5 points-4 points-3 points 4 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link
I'll admit I don't know too much about the eastern front, but didn't Russia have manpower issues with how many people that were captured early on, thus why they let women in the armed forces?
[–]AramisNight 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
If anything Russia was incredibly wasteful with its manpower. They had more men than guns. Their soldiers were instructed to take guns from those that died with them to obtain one. Of course towards the end of WW2, it eventually caught up with them and they did start running low on bodies. However women being allowed into their military was an ideological decision as much as anything else. In communism, all are equal, so women had to be treated as poorly as men as a matter of ideological consistency.
[–]n00bca1e99 -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Then most of their supplies are captured by the Germans.
[–]AramisNight 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It actually tended to work more in the other direction. Germany started the war against Russia with operation Barbossa which was effective at least in the beginning. It caught the Russians offguard and they did manage to push pretty far into Russia before it stalled when they seiged Moscow. But at this point the Russian military was still way behind on supplies so while the Germans where able to occupy land with some resources, arms not so much. The winter counteroffensive launched by the Russians to secure Moscow and push the Germans back, had some arms, but the greatest weapon that the Russians had was their cold winter weather, which forced the Germans to retreat as much as anything. Often in the process leaving behind military arms and vehicles that often got stuck in the snow mid retreat. The advancing Russians would snap up these supplies to bolster their own forces.
