In my relationship, we share the pants. He likes compliments usually given to women. I call him beautiful, tell him that he's wonderful, and get him little gifts whenever I can. That's what he wants. I asked him if we could avoid giving presents to each other until Christmas, and he was fine with that. I told my mother and her instant reaction was, "It's the man's job..." I felt she couldn't be more wrong. It isn't his job. He doesn't have to do anything for me. If he wants to be treated chivalrously, I'll do it no matter what. We do get odd looks often because it's visible that he does prefer the feminine role. I give approximately zero fucks what they think.

Reading this sub and having a relationship with a guy that likes to break gender 'rules' with me produced more thoughts. Following college, I do plan on being a significant source of income. If I'm with a man, and we have children someday, and he wants to be a stay at home dad while I make sure we can give those kids the best life possible, I think he should. Undoubtedly so. I imagine coming home to a house full of laughter and smiles after a long day at work with us teaching the kids how to cook together, not either of us following the 'rules.'

What I've found to be the most aggravating since reading this sub is the clear discrimination in discussion pertaining to abusive relationships and sexual mutilation/roles. I was in an abusive relationship once upon a time, but I've also had male friends that were in abusive relationships. I used to not think as much of them. (Although I did always think poorly of the women treating them wrongly, don't misunderstand me please.) I think because I'm an only child and the closest thing I have to siblings are my male cousins I gained a different perspective. If a woman ever physically/mentally/emotionally abused either of them, I don't care who she is or what she does for a living. She would be treated the way any abuser should be.

I spend time reading this sub every day, and every day I feel like I've learned something new. What I've learned is that I need the idea of men's rights as much as a man does. I'm no activist for feminism, but I do plan on being independent someday and if any man, whether my lover or friend, needs to depend on me or a shoulder to cry on, he should get that without being looked at negatively. There is nothing wrong with feeling. There is nothing wrong with wanting to be happy.

Sorry for rambles, /r/mensrights. I totally didn't mean to. I had some thoughts while brushing my teeth and wanted to share them with you guys.

tldr: Men have feelings too! What a shocker! /sarcasm
