Lakshmi, 41, and Dell, 42, a venture capitalist, have been at odds since the birth of their daughter Krishna, whom Lakshmi had openly hoped was her ex-beau Teddy Forstmann's child.

I now have a lot of sympathy for the woman.

But for some reason, accusations of abusive behavior against a man are automatically spread in the media without verification. We're all very sad for you.

"Ms. Lakshmi believes that family matters should be kept private. "She asks that those who join her in wanting the best for her daughter do the same."

Family matter are private = please don't expose what I'm doing to my kids.

At least the court saw through her bullshit in this case.

I am glad that Dell will now have more custody of his daughter, but it seems odd to me that the courts would force a name change.

I am going through this same shit in New York, and even though my son has a hyphenated name, the mother put him in school with only her name.

They weren't married. Single women should have the right to name their children without consulting their former sex partners - and the responsibility to support their children without hitting up their former sex partners for money.

It doesn't seem that she's asked him to do anything except get lost, so my sympathy is with the mother on this one. I don't think sex should constitute a coparenting agreement by either party.

Huh. Here the law's pretty clear: if the parents can't agree on a surname the baby's name is the parents' names hyphenated in alphabetical order.
