I had a relationship with two girls about 6 months ago... meaning a polygamous relationship ... we were planning on marrying and having children together. All three of us were deeply in love with each other.

The ONLY hatred we saw was from women... SUCH fucking dirty looks. I couldn't show affection to both of them in public without risk of being treated like shit.

There is another study (Buss?) that found that cross cultures its women mainly that engage in sexual shaming and its part if their reproductive strategy.

Honestly I love sluts, and I really appreciate women who dont sleep with every swinging dick they meet too. To each their own, its not like every man needs to have, or will have, more than 50 partners in his lifetime, women need to find out who they are too. It is irrelevant to me how many partners anyone has had, provided they are not spreading an STD. Its their business, and if they want the attention that dressing a certain way gets them, then hey they can enjoy it or deal with it if it gets attention from the people they dont want it from.

My ex wife was very insecure, and also not even the slightest bit faithful. She was very contemptuous of any female that looked better than her, or was perceived to look better than her. She was very controlling and manipulative, and that extended to how she reacted to other women. It was really the pot calling the kettle a slut, since she was the town bicycle/doorknob, and I had no idea when I met her.

For me it is very telling if the woman is jealous, does the shaming thing, or accuses the man of cheating. It speaks volumes about her.

A woman that looks and acts sexy and is willing to approach with interest is a boon to a wanting man and a huge competition for other women. This isn't really surprising. It's just nice to see a study that can demonstrate it.

Just a random thought - doesn't the reaction of the women in the study indicate some sort of knowledge of the intent of the provocatively dressed woman? What I mean is - these women, when judging the provocateur, are essentially saying "There's only one reason for her to dress that way - to get men's attention." However, the fact that women appear to recognize this in a near-universal fashion seems to indicate that all women would do this, if they could. And there's the real stinger - what reason would the women who didn't dress provocatively have when women appear to universally know the reaction such dress evokes?

As a second point, doesn't it make logical sense that the gate keepers of sexuality in our culture would have some kind of intra-gender competition? I think most people here would generally agree that the set that represents "desirable men" is significantly smaller than the number of sexually active and available women. In a way its ironic - women only want sex from the desirable men, but then they have to all compete against each other for the desirable men, and in then the less desirable women (from the men's perspective) lose out. The question is, how often do the less desirable women then opt for less desirable men, and how often do they just opt for some other method for gratification and companionship?

This is something that comes up pretty often but women most certainly do a lot more slut shaming then men do. Most of it is about control - and how can one woman control another man sexually, if that man can simply find easy alternatives? - but a lot of it is about misandry as well, as women often project a sentiment of disdain towards men, male sexuality and male anatomy(and do so without ever really being socially penalized for it).

Why would men be offended by women actually wanting to have sex with them freely(instead of feeling entitled to compensation or commitment) or women referring to their sexuality in a positive manner(instead of treating it as something to despise, something to resent, something to be afraid of, something to laugh at or something to be disgusted by)?

There are men who slut shame out of a genuine distaste for female promiscuity(men who don't approve of irresponsible sexual practices usually get lumped into this category as well) because of a "conquest" mentality but the majority of shaming from men generally comes as a result of religious zealotry, as a desperate way of winning another woman's favor or simply because they are hurt and looking for ways to lash back(typically, this is simply meant to hurt a specific woman and not actually out of a legitimate desire to sexually shame all women ); all of which women do extensively as well.

Although I agree with this study (and others I have read that have similar findings) I don't agree that it is ONLY other women who repress women.

Personally, I have had much more of that kind of abuse hurled at me for no reason by women over the years, but men have done their fair share of slut-shaming too, although it tends to be under different circumstances (when 'denied' sexually, generally).

Sex is a commodity to women; they use its value to leverage power and control. If one woman is giving it out in great quantities for less return then that weakens the value of sex as a tool for all women. So, if the hot girl--who often controls the values of the group--doesn't want competition from less-hot-girls who would give it away for less to get guys, then sh needs to shut down their sexual motivation. Thus, shaming develops instinctually.

I think a woman function as "women" more often than a man function as "men"; what I mean by that is they are far less about the individual woman and far more about the group as a whole because their power is almost all political in nature. So, this sort of group phenomenon occurs.

I think they are falsely equating "sexy" clothing with sexual liberation. As a woman, I can tell you that you do not have to wear revealing clothing to get men's attention, or even to get sex. I don't find vanity attractive in men or women.

is it the provocatively-dressed woman suppressing the conservatively-dressed ones? or the other way around? how are they suppressing their sexuality? it sounds to me like they just get jealous... which i don't think is the same as suppressing one's sexuality, but i could be wrong?

I agree wholeheartedly, but I really think that comes from the obsession with purity and virginity in women and girls that not only our society has, but many other societies and cultures around the world. I really believe that girls, more often than not, are raised to see sex in such a warped way. Like, sex is bad, masturbating is bad, bad bad bad bad bad bad bad. It's never like "yes, honey, masturbating is normal and sex is a good thing when you're ready for it!" Not to say that it isn't this way with men, but I think that girls are expected to be more 'pure' and because of that we kind of take it out on other girls. If we see something we were taught was 'bad', we're mean about it. I'm personally not, but yeah.
