Let's remember to exclude data next time it doesn't fit the agenda. Females dying prematurely in some place of the world, while in western countries, it's the other way around: simple, make a table that excludes North America and Europe. Men having the best paid jobs, but also the worst: simple, just talk about how men are always on top. Men more likely to commit suicide? Put up gender-neutral stats. Men more likely to kill themselves in car accident? Use genderered stats for insurance prices.

We've seen it before, we'll see it again. Stats to fit a political message, how original.

Funny how they so easily cite Africa without providing average life expectancy in that region, which seems to be around 40-50 years. I really think this is the main part of the article that's sexist, because if we were to show the numbers for men, they would either be worse (since generally women live longer) or they would be equal. It's a lot like getting those 75% statistics when you pile women with children and say they're the ones mainly affected by war (or natural disasters), when children account for 50% of the population and woman account for 25% of the population.

Aren't feminists the ones here in the Western World who time after time argue that a fetus isn't a person and it's a womans choice if she wishes to abort or not? Funny how quickly people change their minds when it benefits them.

I realize that people picking boys over girls is a bad thing, but that issue will quickly correct itself within this generation. There are already millions of Chinese men who can't find a woman because they simply don't exist. It will be only a matter of time before the value of a girl/woman outweighs that of a boy/man in China.

Several things, since apparently I am an evil feminazi:

1) I do not identify as feminist. I am an equalist and agree with a lot of the basic arguments of MR. I am not here to claim that men are evil and women are victims of the male blah, blah, blah. Statistically significant variances in gendered death rates warrant investigation.

2) I posted this here because MR frequently makes mention of the higher rate of death and injury men suffer as a result of employment and depression. This was merely to show that both genders suffer higher than necessary rates of mortality dues to different social and cultural standards. Both genders suffer unnecessary death and harm as the result of sociocultural factors. Knowing that males and females die at higher rates for different things does not diminish the tragedy of early demise for either gender, whatever the reason.

3) I am pro-choice and if people want to abort their potential child based purely on its gender that is their choice. I do think NiceGuysSTFU puts it best in that "they make me feel icky but I could never put myself in someone else's shoes like that and it is their business if they want to have an abortion for any reason, not mine, and certainly not the government's." I am not condemning anyone who makes the best choice for themselves and their family, what I am saying is that being in a position where someone feels they have to make that kind of choice sucks.

No. These abortions were chosen by women. There is no feminist argument to be made only one of, "Are you Pro-Choice or Pro-life?"

Over the eons the birth ratio in humans is 105 male to 100 female. Do you know why evolution created those numbers? The natural behaviors of males tend to get them killed early and often.

Why has this even been posted on this discussion board?

Most people here are from the US and europe, not China or Africa.

Go to a chinese or african sub and explain to them that you think they are doing the wrong thing, and that you disapprove.

The truth is, this has been posted for cynical reasons, so that feminists from the US and the UK can say "Look! females have it tougher than males!", so as to say to us, that the problems faced by males in the US and europe are not important and should be overlooked.
