They are part of the solution. PUAs are part of the solution, too. TRP is part of the solution.

The solution is to create enough society-wide destruction for the problem to be noticed. When only 5% of people are affected by a problem, they get labelled as the losers, who had it coming and can be discarded. The system can afford to lose 5%. When the problem affects 50-90% of a generation, it can not keep being ignored.

MRAs on the other hand are trying to fix Rome. They are part of the problem.

Loot Rome, barbarian hordes. Don't try to fix it.

Sounds fun, count me in.

Do we start in Rome or end there?

Maybe living in america - a place with little history to speak of - gives you a different perspective.

From my point of view, with all its faults, civilization builds. I've driven and I mean by car over a bridge 1800 years old, built by roman engineers of old over a small river. That thing's been making life better in a province for ages. Tales of barbaric splendor and their petty wars and vengeances, though entertaining, are merely that. Tales and words. What have they built that I can see? Even the little that remains of them was built of good stone pillaged from buildings they could not even comprehend, and it is crude and childish.

The height of our civilization rebuilt itself on the remains of the old, not on the blood feuds and tall oaths of the barbarian. Yes, there was some revitalization, eventually, but when you study history, you see that civilizations have an ebb and flow to their make up.

Civilization decays. It always does. And if not destroyed, it revives itself. In the 400s rome fell, not to those who wanted to destroy it but who wanted to take it for themselves - and like children, uncomprehending, found themselves unable to keep their toy shiny and working.

It was not the end of that. In the 500s Bizantium was kicking barbarian ass, in the 600s it was near disaster then it broke the back of its persian rival (and a worthy, civilized rival - what an opportunity lost) then in the late 600s and 700s it was reeling from the arab invasions that finished off the persians, in the 800s and 900s it was fighting back. Yes it fell eventually, but even "eventually" is not a barbarian word. It was not a barbarian frame of time of a generation and a war for succession, but centuries. And by then, the roman provinces of old were rebuilding themselves on the old frames left behind, always pushing themselves forward for a memory - an ideal - a yearning of civilization, one that only survived because the strong, civilized walls on the golden horn kept the arabs at bay.

I fear barbarism more when I see the thought of society turning only to the moment, the futile, the emotional - becoming feminized, actually, if you think about it. I'd rather see the gates defended, and last out the bad times, than to just give up and admit incompetence. Falling on your back, legs outstretched to receive victorious barbarian sperm - that also is a feminine thing.

Change - yes. Giving in - no.

You don't get it. You can't decide in what kind of social environment you live. When there is lawlessness, you need to be lawless. When there is order, you need to play by the rules.

Your individual choice can not change the environment on its own. What can change it is coordinated consensus.

You are trying to play against the stock market trend and that always ends in failure. If anything, you can wait out on the sidelines.

[–]Manuel_S 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It is not inevitable. Surrender will make it more likely to come, though.

First seven words were exactly mine.

I think it is extremely depressing but unfortunately perfectly rational under the circumstances. I basically was that way a number of years ago but I moved through it. Now I'm basically impossible to disappoint, I have no expectations of women other than that they will act in a completely mercenary way and I'm never disappointed.

[–]Epicureanist 14 points15 points16 points 12 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I think it is extremely depressing

Not necessarily, there is some beauty in this archetype of a man who disregards society and acquires knowledge (or whatever they value.

Perfect example of this is Nikola Tesla. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikola_Tesla#Relationships

Tesla could be harsh at times, openly expressing disgust for overweight people, such as when he fired a secretary because of her weight.[190] He was quick to criticize clothing. On several occasions, Tesla directed a subordinate to go home and change her dress

[–]JoshtheAspie 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Unfortunately, Tesla chose to thumb his nose at money and notoriety, and as a result, most of his inventions were credited to other men like Edison, and Marconi, resulting in it being quite difficult to get investors or sponsors for his further work.

[–]DanReggins 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Shit, if an Aspie realizes that, then anyone should!

[–]JoshtheAspie 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

One of the practical things I have chosen to study is human interaction, and as such, I'm in the midst of 48 laws of power. Edison/Marconi vs Tesla is a specific example of several ways that differences in human attitudes and behaviour tend to lead to differing results.

Edison was comparable to Bill Gates and Steve Jobs. They were better managers, manipulators, and marketers than they were with technical skills. They were able to use the talents of others to their own benefits, and spectacularly so.

Like Disney, they all stole whole-cloth to rise in financial power and influence, then after the fact they lobbied to put in place regulations to prevent people from creating derivative works of their inventions that were often, themselves, derivative works. In other words, they were able to make illegal the same form of competition that they themselves used, thus removing competition, and locking in a portion of their success and power.

That's how crony mercantilism works, and is a repeating pattern in the history of the British Empire, and the US, at least as far back as the estate of Shakespeare, a play-write notorious for not only borrowing, but outright stealing from the works of others.

[–]scandium 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ha! He fired a secretary for being fat!

I have no expectations of women other than that they will act in a completely mercenary way and I'm never disappointed.

Be careful what you wish for. Self-fullfilling prophecy and all that. You may actually act in a way that creates these situations, not to mention you may subconsciously seek out women that fit that pattern.

[–]bgny 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

From "Men on Strike" by Dr. Helen Smith:

"American society has become anti-male. Men are sensing the backlash and are consciously and unconsciously going “on strike.” They are dropping out of college, leaving the workforce and avoiding marriage and fatherhood at alarming rates. The trend is so pronounced that a number of books have been written about this “man-child” phenomenon, concluding that men have taken a vacation from responsibility simply because they can. But why should men participate in a system that seems to be increasingly stacked against them? As Men on Strike demonstrates, men aren’t dropping out because they are stuck in arrested development. They are instead acting rationally in response to the lack of incentives society offers them to be responsible fathers, husbands and providers. In addition, men are going on strike, either consciously or unconsciously, because they do not want to be injured by the myriad of laws, attitudes and hostility against them for the crime of happening to be male in the twenty-first century. Men are starting to fight back against the backlash. Men on Strike explains their battle cry."

I think that it is better than being a beta. So if women refuse to treat someone with respect/settle for them, it is not a bad thing to go your own way.

[–]Cosmicandy 10 points11 points12 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They drive the collective value of pussy down by refusing to orbit and validate the massive egos of modern women. Every MGTOW brings women one step closer to realizing their actual value.

To them I give a hearty god-fucking-speed in all their endeavours.

Someone here once posted that when it comes to relationships, a man's greatest weapon is the ability to walk away. (I believe this was a best-of post for 2013).

Folks who are MGTOW are just exercising this option, except with ALL women and maybe society in general. They're saying, "I don't like your rules, so I'm not playing your game."

http://www.reddit.com/r/TheRedPill/comments/1u6m3m/the_basics_explained_and_our_direction_for_2014/

"MGTOW

Taken from: http://www.mgtow.com/[5]

Level 1: Situational awareness

This level includes men who are aware of the realities that face them in society, and yet deem the risks acceptable to have a go at playing the game...

Level 2: Rejection of long-term relationships

Man who rejects all form of long-term personal relationships with women, including but not limited to marriage, cohabitation of any sort which might be classified as common-law marriage, picking up for a single mother's children, or any action which might be used in court to turn him into her legal indentured servant...

Level 3: Rejection of short-term relationships

Man who rejects all form of personal relationships with women, including dating, one-night stands, friendships, etc. Any contact with unfamiliar women is kept strictly professional and at a minimum...

Level 4: Economic disengagement

Man who refuses to produce more than is strictly necessary for his individual survival. He will limit actions that are punished by taxation without jeopardizing his way of life and acceptable standard of living..."

Obviously Level 1 is great, and something we here at TRP agree with, but everything after that is debatable. Level 2 does not include relationships, which are a valid sexual strategy, and Level 3 does not include Plates, also a valid sexual strategy. If you can find happiness within this framework, knock yourself out, but the meat of TRP will be focusing on Plates/Girlfriend game. Being the pragmatic bunch we are at TRP I honestly want to thank all of you MGTOW out there. By opting out of dating and society altogether you help drive down the value of pussy by no longer validating women, and you're less competition for those of us who pursue one of the other two strategies. Blaze a trail, gentlemen.

[–]Veritisia 8 points9 points10 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No fucking Problem, have them. I don't find enjoyment in chasing unless the chase is extremely difficult, which is extremely rare. Hmm, "I wonder if i'll ever see that unicorn I've been looking for?"

I'm not looking for feminine energy, I'm looking for unique individualistic experiences, if there is also a woman in the experience so be it. I'm intellectually asexual, still turned on by women, but find solace and "emotional support" or rather empathy from men in the current situation. I am also able to partially empathize with RedPill men because they have different needs but act the same way to satiate their needs. I don't have the same set of required needs. I don't finds needs to be weaknesses, they are just there. Just as long as you're not a pussy sycophant you're cool with the MGTOW community. It's more of a males internet, non-binding solidarity movement, and movement by way of anarchical movement

[–]Endorsed ContributorRedBigMan 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think that most guys here would be considered Level 1 or Level 2 (I know many guys support LTRs even if they do not support marriage)

That said it seems like Level 4 is not incompatible with previous levels. Producing only enough to survive for yourself and your LTR is a valid strategy if you reside at Level 2. It also makes divorce proceedings if you end up being attached by common law or marriage much easier as your alimony and/or child support payments will be quite low as well.

[–]tempusers 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Level 4: Guilty of being there. Taken too far and then it's detrimental to personal emotional and social well being.
I've engaged just enough to get by, basically. Like don't go out to bars and socialize to avoid vapid people and women girls I may bump into. But who really wants to just get by.

[–]JonnieCage 6 points7 points8 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm all for living life on your terms. I don't see any downside

[–]fiat_lux_ 13 points14 points15 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

"They can go their own way."

[–]rarlcove 11 points12 points13 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Who is to say that a relationship with a woman is a good thing? We all agree that women have very little value compared to what we've been raised to believe. The difference is the regular red piller wants to salvage some little value from women by spinning plates and fucking them occasionally, while the MGTOW say "fuck it" to the whole thing.

I like to think of myself as MGTOW. If the right girl came along I might go with it, but I've worked hard to divorce my self-worth from women's perception of me, and I'm planning on keeping it that way.

[–]Endorsed ContributorDoxasticPoo 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I've worked hard to divorce my self-worth from women's perception of me

Exactly, I need little from women these days (other than sex). So what's the point?

Every date I go out on is time spent NOT doing things I love. Every "game" book I read or strategy tried in the field is time NOT making music, or working on that book or even just hanging out with my friends, all things I love to do.

I just don't see enough value in women to forego the value I get from myself.

[–]Senior ContributorDemonspawn 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Every date I go out on is time spent NOT doing things I love.

I fixed this years ago: I don't date. I go do what I want to do. If a girl I'm with wants to come, great! If not, great!

[–]JoshtheAspie 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is the only way I would ever "date" any more, were I interested in dating in the first place.

Also, it's a great way to screen for similar interests. If a girl isn't into any of the things you're into, why hang out?

[–]draketton 17 points18 points19 points 12 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

It's the natural reaction to swallowing the red pill early in life. When you see the venomous, machiavellian side of women before you're old enough to do anything for yourself, you become scared of women. Not scared in the classic beta sense of "I don't want to hurt the feelings of a precious little flower", but scared in the sense of realizing that women can fuck you up bad if you botch your relationships with them. As an adolescent the fear is still there, so you go your own way, choosing to focus your time on things that don't seem so intimidating.

Now, no one can deny a man's biological drive to want sex. So as you become an independent adult and accumulate life experience, "I'm scared" ceases to cut it as an excuse. If you have any sort of eye for the future, you spend your MGTOW years putting yourself around girls every so often, without ever trying to become close to one. You also spend that time reading up on them using resources like the manosphere. MGTOW is a cocoon that you've got to break out of someday, and with a carefully formulated plan.

[–]keyboard_mash15 points 12 years ago [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link

I'm not so sure, when you look at places like the MTGOW forums most of the men there seem to be at least 30-40, and often divorced.

[–]draketton 8 points9 points10 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I admit I may be doing some projecting with my response. Lots of it, actually.

[–]anakinastronaut 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's alright, happens to the best of us. I was just hitting puberty when I found this place, and it messed me up for a little while because I was literally disgusted by the way women act. As it is now, I try to ignore the way women act so that I can stay friends with them.

[–]JoshtheAspie 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Risk-reward analysis is always a valid way of approaching the decision of whether or not to engage in a given market.

I don't buy lotto tickets, or gamble at casinos, because the risk-reward analysis has it as a net loss long-term. Even if I think I've found a way to cheat and have no moral prohibition against cheating, the risk of ending up at the bottom of a river wearing cement shoes is not worth the potential payouts, given the relative probabilities.

And humans are individuals with variation. Some men, quite simply, are going to be able to live without sex, or will be able to sate their drives with self-stimulation, or devices. Some of these men may not place a high level of value above and beyond sexual release on getting sexual release specifically through congress with a woman.

In that context, recognizing risk isn't an "excuse" for making a choice, but a part of a rational decision-making framework, based on the value that person places on a desirable outcome, chances of achieving that outcome, and the chances and intensities of negative outcomes.

Even if you don't have hard numerical values, a cost-value analysis based on estimates is better than just blindly doing whatever your base physical and emotional urges would indicate at the time. After all, if you only listened to your base physical and emotional urges, you'd be a fat lazy SOB with no marketable skills.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I can relate to this a lot. I'm a decade younger than my sisters and have done a lot of watching them and my mother act irrationally/emotionally. Being the youngest, I've also gotten to watch everyone's marriages and relationships, and it's hard for me to see overwhelming benefits.

I think I'm an odd cocktail of beta and MGTOW. It's hard to know where one trait ends and the other begins. On the one hand I have very little experience with women, which makes me feel beta. On the other, it's not for a lack of confidence. I'm familiar with RP, dress well, work out; I have no doubt I could go out and get laid a bunch if I wanted to, but I don't have a strong desire to do so(and it's also not a lifestyle I've been raised to consider wise/rewarding). It's an odd place to be.

[–]tempusers 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I have no doubt I could go out and get laid a bunch if I wanted to, but I don't have a strong desire to do so

Can you? Why no desire? If the desire is truly killed by their terribleness then I understand. If it's fear of rejection instead and you hide behind the lack of desire, don't do it. That's the beta cocktail part you mentioned.
Don't rationalize it away dude. If you're not doing that then ignore this.
Not knocking you down. I'm guilty of it too. This was meant to motivate you just as much as myself towards betterment.

[–]C_D_O 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

My thoughts are this: be honest.

Be honest and righteous in your actions. I.E if you're MGTOW because you've specifcally chosen that over other avenues, fine. But lets be honest, how many guys are MGTOW out of choice and how many are actually in a sour grapes situation - they can't get pussy, so they rationalize not wanting anything to do with pussy?

I dont care if I get downvoted for this, but I'm wagering a large percentage of MGTOW is the latter.

Granted some proponents of MGTOW are divorced men, they are in the later stages of life and they are sick of women. The difference is here, they've had bad experiences at all facets of the spectrum and want nothing more to do with them.

A 20 year old claiming MGTOW is usually doing so out of sour gapes. He is so woefully inexperienced with women that his only frame of reference is rejection for failing to be attractive enough - thats not the fault of women, just as its not your fault for rejecting a hideous looking chick. Attraction isnt really a choice after all.

[–]General_Fear 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is my take on MGTOW.

A man might start off as a PUA. He bangs women left and right. In the blue pill world, a man gets tired of being single. Same goes for PUAs. This is the point of time when most men marry. BUT, if you are red pill, you will not marry or live with a woman because you know that divorce courts are out to destroy men. So what do you do . . .

It is at this point when a PUA becomes a MGTOW. As an aging PUA you will be tired of the scene. You have banged more women in a life time that most men. So what what do you do. Marry? No! You become a MGTOW. Yeah, you will go on the occasional date and such. And as an older guy you will occasionally bang a lady. But you will live your life for yourself.

MGTOWs never marry. Never have kids and never live with a women. They live their life for themselves.

[–]dr_bloodmoney 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You cannot be someone who is afraid of women or never had sex and say you are MTGTOW. It's an attitude that comes about as the result of many LTR's and/or marriage, having lots of sex and spending time with many different women.

I am not entirely MTGTOW. I date here and there and have sex if I feel the need to do so. The thing for me is that I find that I have become extremely selfish with my free time. I don't really want to spend it with a woman. I did that when I was married. I'm picky, so if I meet someone that can actually capture my interest then it's on. It's just a rare occurrence. And it usually doesn't last for long.

For the record, I am in a constant state of improvement. Intellectually and physically. I have many hobbies and I work out.

[–]billnye_theRPguy 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Depends. A lot of MGTOW stems from entitlement issues that the current generation of women have. Women seem completely unable to have any sort of foresight or empathy. This is a more reasonable MGTOW.

It also doesn't help that the current generation of men have no solid male role models and they were raised by women (often absent fathers). They don't know how to be actual men, so they see relationships as something where they'll be getting taken advantage of by some bitchy woman, so instead they get their sexual needs met through masturbation and play video games instead. This kind of MGTOW needs "fixing".

[–]Endorsed ContributorDoxasticPoo 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Agreed. This is not MGTOW. This is Men Hiding from the World.

True MGTOW is seeing and realizing more value from yourself than can be realized with a woman in your life.

Some argue a woman pushes a man to be better. And I would accept that argument. But I would counter by saying she takes way more than gained. So the net is actually a loss.

True MGTOW is fully accepting there is no gain from a woman. And that your interests, passions, desires are too important to yourself to simply give away.

Let them at it, less competition for the rest.

If you need women for nothing other than sex and procreation, and if hookers are readily available and children are of no interest, why waste giving your time & attention to a woman? Keep it for yourself. Live your life. Love the things you love.

Less competition.

I hope you piss off more new pillers who are trying to use their failure of not knowing how to get women to want to blow them and repackage it as logical MTGOW. When did our sexual strategy forum just turn into a place to just bitch about women and ditching them rather than learning how to fuck tons of women?

/u/gaylubeoil preach to these fucking idiots.

Yeah I hate all the "women are shit" posts popping up all over TRP lately. Hating women is not the answer, MGTOW is not the answer either. It's possible to find a woman and be happy. MGTOW to me feels like "I give up" but hamstered into some "noble mission". When really it's just a big fat rationalization about feelings of helplessness.

It's possible to find a woman and be happy

But is it always worth it? You're advocating looking for unicorns, think about what you're saying.

"noble mission"

I don't think many MTGOWs feel like what they're doing is "righteous" or anything, it's just a response to rampant hypergamy. For some people playing the game is just not something they want to be doing.

Mostly a cop out for men who are game-aware yet cannot face their shortcomings with women.

I also disagree. I'm 40 yo and I've been in 4 relationships over 3 years long, the longest was 5 years. I have plenty of notches besides that. I was never married and have no kids, by choice. I choose freedom. That's why I am MGTOW.

I don't need a woman in my life - don't need the hassle, don't need the drain on my resources, or the limiting of my freedom. Not to mention of dangers of false accusations and jail, which I spent 3 days because my ex cried to police that I hit her after holding her down to stop her from hitting me. A woman can't add value to my life, only take away. If the society was more marriage and male friendly, maybe it would be different, maybe I would marry, have kids. But not today. Probably not in my lifetime. But I am content and will die a happy and free man.

I have not failed with women, the society has failed me as a man. So I made a choice. MGTOW.

That's not completely true. There are men who are more than capable of scoring sex but don't believe the costs are worth the reward. Personally I feel no need to spin women for a reliable source of sex. If I feel the urge for sex (which comes every month or so), I go on the hunt, satisfy my need and go back to whatever I wanted to do before. I rarely spin the women I have sex with beyond the what's required to get into their pants as most women I've dated have nothing to add to my life beyond a lay.

Sound like me. I have a one night stand every month or so and that's it, just can't be bothered wasting my time and resources chasing creatures who will never truly care about me or raise me up in any way.

Pathetic losers who, rather than making themselves better men, give up completely.

Giving themselves such a pretentious title smacks of passive aggressive attention seeking, akin to the fat ugly kid who doesn't get picked for the team.

"yeah well, I didn't want to play in your game anyway!"

That kid goes out and buys a fedora that very night.

In summary

MGTOW are pathetic omega's, who are trying to talk themselves into the delusion that they are "Going their own way" by choice, rather than they never had a chance to begin with.

Pity them, for they are sad.

Edit: There are also incredibly thin skinned, whiny and sensitive.

How do you explain all the divorced MGTOWs on MGTOW Forums? How did they ever manage to get married in the first place if they were desperate Omegas who no woman would ever touch?

I won't deny that there are Omega MGTOWs. I've seen younger MGTOWs who openly admit to being virgins and having never dated. However, I've also seen a lot of divorced MGTOWs, and MGTOWs who claim to have become MGTOW after a string of tiring LTR's. In my opinion, the influx of younger Omega MGTOWs seem to be a more recent trend. The older ones tended to be divorced or sick of LTR's, at least from my experience lurking MGTOW Forums (which I do practically every day).

If it's done to avoid drama, heartbreak, betaization and financial penalties, MGTOW is an unnecessary extreme.

Women have positive qualities to offer men, so long as the men can prevent all of the above from occurring.

Fortunately, they can. PUA polyamory completely eliminates drama from relationships and prevents betaization when its rules are followed.

The downside is that you have to be willing to let your women sleep with whoever they want, and you have to develop the skills necessary to sleep with women in a relatively short amount of time.

Arguably that last bit isn't a downside, but it does require some effort.
