evolution has "hardcoded" both genders in a way to ensure the survival and adaption/enhancement of the human species:

both, men and women, want to pass their genes to the next generations and the best (possible start) for their offspring

men are programmed to:

spread their seed (so they will have sex with pretty much any healthy, fertile woman) ... but also to invest in relationships and offspring with the best and non-promiscuous of these women (non-promiscuous was hardcoded by evolution because for millions of years men could not be sure if the offspring was really fathered by themselves, there is no greater evolutionary failure than investing into the genes of another man)

women are programmed to:

choose a reliable, healthy, high-status, wealthy man and bond with him using sex. Pick the best man you can attract because pregnancy is expensive (time, resources) and you can do it only a limited number of times in your lifetime. Also our species has huge brains with a very high energy consumption and a long period of upbringing until we are self-reliant ... for millions of years it needed two parents to raise a child, otherwise the child would die/starve. So a woman who wanted to procreate needed a man for provisioning and protection otherwise the chances of survival for the offspring were very slim.
independent of relationships try to get the best genes ... if you already have the best mate ... good. If not, cheat with a better man in secret. So cheating is part of their nature (dual-mating-strategy).

Why are woman so picky these days?

Their evolutionary algorithm of "picking the best man you can attract" was developed for small tribal groups of 20-50 individuals ,,, so they tried to get the son of the chieftain ... and when this didn't word ... they tried to get the next best one ... his brother or subordinate ... and so on. The options were limited. They also had consider wealth/resources/social status ... so it wasn't the best looking guy ... it was the "best" looking guy with resources and status (survival of the child is the primary goal here). This further limited their choice.

With civilization and technology WE REMOVED THE LIMITS FOR FEMALE MATE SELECTION: * DATING APPS, THE "TRIBE" IS NOW THE WHOLE WORLD ... it overloads their mate selection algorithm, choosing the best now means millionaires/billionaires/superstars ... that's their frame of reference now to which everything else will be compared * WE GIVE WOMEN FREE MONEY -> THEY DON'T NEED A PROVIDER (women as a whole take more money from the government than they pay in taxes, so all men with their tax money are currently financing their single mother lifestyle). Searching for a man who provides and protects is not necessary anymore. Your children will not die, you can bring them up as single mother (they still complain how hard it is). They can concentrate on the other part "get the best genes", so fucking 9/10 and 10/10 of men who will never commit. Unfortunately they select mostly for physical strength and tallness, which in our modern world is pretty useless, intelligence would be the better choice. * WE MOVE TASKS OF MALE PARTNERS TO THE GOVERNMENT ... protection is a service of the police now, provisioning is a service of the government now, EDUCATION/TEACHING is a service of the government, etc.

make a thought experiment: * remove all dating apps / communication ... so your communication circle is just your direct neighbors / suburb / village * take away welfare / free money or even the job market -> how will you feed your kids without hunting or a provider? * take away the government ... no police ... no schools, no kindergardens ... without partner you have to do everything yourself

that is the reason i hear the argument "wait till the next war / catastrophe" so often ... it's easy to see that if the limitations are applied again to women, the female algorithms automatically follow the path nature and evolution intended for them ... it's always a balance ... you need both

imagine we removed the limits for men somehow (with technology) ... imagine we invent intelligent AI sex robots that are way more attractive and entertaining than real women, men would lose all interest in real women ... or force the best looking women to have sex with you ... imagine the government would also force all women to bear your children and raise them ... without anything in return

you see ... if we remove the limits for men ... it would turn the world into a hell for women ... same goes for women ... we removed all their limitations ... they run rampant now ... and it turned the world into a hell for men

Jordan Peterson has explained this a few times in an interesting way but the basic idea is that since women can get pregnant they have to be selective. This is never the case for men. Men can spread their seed if wanted without any natural consequences. Women are literally allowing another human being to enter their body.

To be homest, I don't think it was like this (this bad anyway) back in the 19th century or whenever before the internet.

The problem is men a salivating dogs to get laid and that's where it gives women all the power. The whole supply and demand thing.

The internet skews this even further because there is always another asshole willing to call the other guy an asdhole she just dumped for no good reason just to fluff her ego so he can just get laid himself. And then the cycle continues almost ad infinitum.

It has to do with attraction.

Male and female attraction is objectively different. Men typically use visual standards, and women typically use competency / status standards.

More men prefer more of the women, and more women prefer less of of the men. This creates a situation where women date up / above themselves in the dominance / competence / status hierarchies, and men date down / below themselves in terms of dominance / competence / status.
