Study finds that "manuscripts written by women as solo authors or coauthored by women were treated even more favorably by referees and editors" yet gets reported with the heading "no gender bias". Gender bias against men doesn't seem to count as gender bias!

Following a petition, Winchester University cancelled a talk with two men's rights activists in 2019. Here is the text of one of the talks (by William Collins) that were planned. It covers education, suffrage and coverture. It's disappointing that such views can't be expressed in such a forum.

95% of strip searches of children reported in England & Wales are of boys. This may or may not be an issue but I found it interesting that it was considered unfair that black children were more likely to be strip-searched but this huge gender disparity was barely mentioned in lots of media coverage.

MORE needs to be done to help women? Uh...we built the entire modern world to make women more comfortable, more empowered, more educated, richer, healthier, lengthened the woman’s life expectancy...I mean we can do more but can you give us a few Millenia ?

[–]Algiz56 64 points65 points66 points 4 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

Ugh. I am a man,but even I prefer male bosses. For all my life I have seen like 3 effective women in high positions of companies where I used to work.

And you know what? Their behavior was mostly the same, as of a male bosses.

[–]IoSonCalaf 30 points31 points32 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I’ve also had many female bosses and I try to avoid them now if I can.

[–]Algiz56 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This. Workplace is a place to work. Not for tiptoying around somebody's moods, complexes and other personal stuff.

Male bosses are often behave more professionaly.

[–]Sperm40mmSprintChamp 22 points23 points24 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This has been studied a few times and people, male and female, almost overwhelmingly would prefer a male boss.

[–]warmtoiletseatt 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Female bosses are typically not beneficial to women or men. Male bosses are often better for women for the reason discussed here and female bosses seem to be demeaning of men.

[–]Algiz56 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Female bosses are prone to have both favorites and non favorites, and often drag personal emotional bias into buisness.

[–]Slow-Brush 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

You can say it again, the emotional rollercoaster during mensuration, the Dr Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde personality. I worked under a female boss and during her mensuration period are the worst for guys in the company.

[–]Algiz56 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I did not liked to mention this, because, come on. If you wanna be a boss, you should have self discipline. Or some kind of pills to get calm. Yes, I know, that is harsh. So is buisness.

I will risk sounding like a boomer, but ladies often are ayem) overty emotional beth) less stress resistant.

Wich is a handicap for a boss.

Also, men and women have different social hierarchy that do not translate well into mixed collective, unless you try to do this on intention.

I have to confess, that it is harder for me to see my boss as an autority figure, (unless she is way older than me), if it is a women, than if it is a man. And for me, as a guy, having a boss, that alI have some sort of respect towards, is a big deal in my worklife. Because without adequate hierarchy I tend to try to take position of atkewst informal leader. Wich leads to conflicts.

That wall of text for a simple observation is the only proof I need for confirming the thesis "women are less stress resistant and more emotional".

So male bosses do that too :) people are just people

[–]OpenShut 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I work in the startup world and mainly in operations. Most people are highly numerate, logical and stoic in this space. I know a number of highly successful and driven female COOs and they all complain about female leadership. They even get targeted by other females.

I think it is especially tough for women who are direct and not overly empathetic as this goes against the normal stereotype.

Though, I might get accused of being aggressive they get accused of being bitchy.

[–]Algiz56 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think it is especially tough for women who are direct and not overly empathetic as this goes against the normal stereotype.

This is actually a best breed of female bosses. I work in science. We value a bit different things.

[–]TracyMorganFreeman 56 points57 points58 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

It's probably because male bosses are more likely to be bosses by promoting on experience and merit, whereas female bosses are more likely to be promoted to meet diversity metrics and/or before they're prepared to lead.

Then you have female bosses who never learned how to deal with people and just assume their ineffectiveness is sexism against them.

[–]Scumbaggio1845 21 points22 points23 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

There is definitely some truth to what you said there, it’s often seen as a man vs woman thing when in reality it’s more a case of relevant experience, temperament and overall suitability and competence.

[–]GulchDale 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Entitlement plays a big role too. Coincidence or not, the great female bosses I worked under weren't conventionally attractive therefore had to earn their stripes and were held to similar standards as us dudes. Whereas the terrible female bosses were or one time were attractive and tended to be promoted based on that, instead of having actual leadership qualities. I've seen the same thing with dudes, but it's no as firm of a rule with us.

I have a management position where I work and when I was risked to leave office and be replaced by a woman, my female colleagues begged me to stay because they were terrified of taking orders from the other female candidate. My opinion on this is that there are no beta women, they are all alpha candidates, men had to overcome it millennia ago in order for their genes to survive.

And thats one of the things I always tell my friends, the illusion of patriarchy comes first from this female complicity. If the daughter, sisters or female co-workers do not behave, she will threaten to call the father, the boss, the school principal, the policeman, or god. Woman grants authority to men because the female competition for the prevalence of genes does not allow granting it to another woman.

Because they're terrified of being beta.

Of course they always go around it and mask it in every way, but in order to maintain feminism they will inevitably be forced to touch this issue more and more, putting us guilty whenever possible of course, until a day when the snake will inevitably swallow its own tail.

Many woman I've experienced in leadership roles, the power always seems to go to their head. It's not like the world isn't full of horrible controlling men bosses too, but something about women having power over others seems to bring out a sort of cruelty you never see anywhere else.

The aggressive micromanagement making you look over your shoulder to see if she's coming, the impossible demands that feel like personal attacks, the constant meetings to solve minor problems and huge list of rules that get in the way of work. Not to mention the secret police of colleagues who report to her every perceived transgression behind closed doors. Often got the impression I was being treated as the enemy or a useful idiot instead of an employee or colleague.

[–]pfizerface 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I agree about the micromanagement, and they keep tabs on everyone. The management style is "unforgiving" and strict.

[–]__pulsar 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I had a female boss who asked us to call her anytime we received a request that was not explicitly outlined in the handbook. This happened fairly often so I had to call her frequently.

Fast forward to annual review time. She gave me a bad review and her justification was, "You need to learn how to take more initiative. You're constantly bothering me with trivial questions."

My jaw just about his the floor. I explained that the only reason I called her is because she instructed me to do so, but she wasn't having it. I quit on the spot. Fuck that shit.

[–]Slow-Brush 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The larger than life attitude. My former boss who was a female used to leave early too, 3 out of 5 days she left like 1.5hrs before everyone else. Eventually she started to abused the system until the senior VP which is a woman also fired her.

[–]WingsofSky 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Maybe it's' because of the "drama bullshit"?

[–]Slow-Brush 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I am guy and I prefer male bosses also. On my last job, I can vividly remembered when I had to work under a female boss, JESUS! I tell you man, she was larger than life, she behaved like an owner of their own company and mind you, I was working for a fortune 100 company.

Long story short! Here's the irony, 7 months after I left the company, the company's senior VP which is a woman, fired my former boss 🤣🤣🤣😅😅😅

[–]TFME1 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Female bosses act like douchebags and "hanging judges" because they think they have to "prove themselves", in a stereotyped bs perspective that it's a "man's world". It's not some fake-ass patriarchy that radical feminazis would have you believe. The higher one gets in the hierarchy, the more hyper-egalitarian it gets, to the degree that some people who shouldn't be anywhere near management or supervision of others are, in fact, managers and supervisors. This is through nepotism, favoritism and a variety of other -ism's that turns work into a hellish nightmare with HR. I've experienced this on multiple occasions, never with a positive end result. I even ask who my supervisor will be, listening for the name to infer the likely gender, during employment interviews. I'll avoid female bosses like the plague, if humanly possible. If I can't avoid them, I'll ask for WAY more money, to offset the inevitable increase in "neuroticism from above". Female managers suck at inclusion, communication and letting ANYTHING be "water under the bridge", escalating every perceived insult or infraction.

Men bad, women good.

[–]sleepyJoeBidet 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Shhh. Any behavior issue is automaticallynoat patriarchy.

Drugs - patriarchy BLM- patriarchy Crime - patriarchy Cancer - patriarchy

Its amazing that women's studies has come up with a unifying social theory that explains all problems and will solve word.

[–]Girl_Dukat_ 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Hah! No it’s not men. Women bosses suck.

[–]Slow-Brush 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I second you on this. You wanna see a company get destroy faster? Make all women managers and supervisors for a company, they will literally fight amongst themselves due to jealousy.

[–]Girl_Dukat_ 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Same for countries and nations. Matriarchy doesn’t end well.

[–]TheSnesLord 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women will definitely prefer male bosses now due to how men have been fear-mongered into to walking on eggshells around women.

[–]2wicky 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The worst boss I've ever had was at one of my first workplaces and she was a woman. She managed to turn the whole office into a toxic workplace in less than a year. It taught me an important lesson. Only work for companies with a healthy workplace environment.

Since then, most of the women I've worked with in leadership roles have been anywhere between avarage to being exceptionally good at their jobs. What I have noticed time and time again is the women who are really good at what they do and deserve to be promoted to uppermanagment roles tend to bail. They are the ones most likely to secure a successful husband allowing them to downgrade to a less stressful job or do something completely different.

Another thing I've noticed is when the competent women are given the space to define their role or set an agenda within a company, most will focus on setting diversity and inclusion policies, which companies love, but career wise is a dead end. They just end up opening the door for the incompetent women to climb up the ladder.

[–]pfizerface 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Men bosses tend to be more chill in my experience, and most importantly, appeasing to women employees. Women conflict with each other.

But again, blame men and destroy everything.

[–]vague_obscenity 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm a man and I prefer male bosses. I know women who also prefer male bosses. Women in leadership positions often have a chip on their shoulder. They have somethkng to prove, they also tend to be moody, erratic and vindictive. I don't want drama, that's why I like working for men.

[–]riverview_man 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (62 children) | Copy Link

Women are more emotional and empathetic whereas men are more logical and reasonable. There's a reason why men are the primary bosses and CEOs in companies. I'm not saying women can't think with reason and logic, I'm just saying that's not how women are wired to think.

[+]neumodischanmassend -23 points-22 points-21 points 4 years ago (61 children) | Copy Link

The reason there are more male bosses is in the past women weren't allowed to go to school, work without their husband's permission, weren't able to have a bank account without permission etc. Besides that there were and are the societal expectations on women to have kids and be a housewive while the husband works. Times are changing but remember that those bosses you're speaking of are 50+ yrs old. Times were different back when they graduated and decided on careers.

[–]riverview_man 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (58 children) | Copy Link

Times are changing, yes. But no one said that was a good thing. These days, one false accusation can literally ruin a man's life without any evidence, just a woman's words and actions.

[+]neumodischanmassend -10 points-9 points-8 points 4 years ago (55 children) | Copy Link

When my parents got married you couldn't even accuse your spouse of rape because the law said that it just didn't exist. That's for both genders of course. Now you're able to sue your spouse for rape, which leads to more reported cases. Do you really think that's a bad thing?

[–]riverview_man 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (47 children) | Copy Link

It is if it's not true. Today, a woman can enjoy sex with a guy and he not want to see her again and she can claim he raped her. It's literally that simple today

[–]neumodischanmassend -5 points-4 points-3 points 4 years ago (46 children) | Copy Link

But that's possible both ways around? Even then, without evidence the cases are dismissed. And for rape you barely ever have evidence, even if it actually happened. Also what's wrong in the US, you act like that's a thing that happens regularly.

[–]riverview_man 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (43 children) | Copy Link

A man raping a woman is taken FAR MORE seriously than the other way around. Most of the time if a guy has sex, he should be grateful to have gotten laid, regardless if he didn't want to with that woman, or at least that's what society would have people believe. In other words, it does not work both ways unfortunately. And ik it doesn't happen regularly, but given the times we're in, like #metoo, if you don't believe a woman simply based on her words, you're labeled a sexist and a misogynist, a word that more people use that don't even know the meaning of.

[–]neumodischanmassend 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (42 children) | Copy Link

I guess I agree with you on that, there's some serious stigma and sexism about rape towards men. But I still have a feeling that the fear of being falsely accused of rape leads to the topic being far more present than it actually is. There's a lot to a rape accusation for both parties, once you've said it out loud there's no easy way out. In the Netflix show umbelievable they show a girl who appears to have falsely accused someone of rape. I was quite shocked to see it tbh, she's going through hell afterwards

[–]riverview_man 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

Also, one thing I recommend to you and any man on here is to check out men's help channels on YouTube such as Donovan Sharpe, Better Bachelor, Strong Successful Male, Anthony Spade, Casual Bachelor, Taylor the Fiend, DariusM, Entrepreneurs and Cars, among others, to get a better perspective on just how things are when it comes to men and women in modern society and how science and facts trump how modern people feel.

[–]neumodischanmassend 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

Nah I'm good. I learned a bit about how to read studies and about societal issues at uni and don't need some YouTuber to show me their biased data research.

[–]riverview_man 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (26 children) | Copy Link

Any woman can claim rape and anyone believes it today without question. A man can get raped and most wouldn't take it seriously because "men can't get raped, what are you smoking" or "you had sex, get over it. Are you gay or something" or something like that. Almost no one would care. I heard about a football player who got falsely accused and his career was ruined and it turns out she lied about the whole thing. The man didn't get his career back.

[–]neumodischanmassend 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (25 children) | Copy Link

There are many examples for the opposite as well, like Chris brown, Trump, R Kelly, Louis CK, Woody Allen, Bill Cosby, Roman Polanski. They all got accused of different things, sometimes with evidence like for Chris Brown, but their careers are nowhere near over.

Also let me repeat, the fuck is wrong with the US, if any of my friends spoke like that I would be seriously concerned.

I think this is very biased. Being falsely accused of rape is so horrible that far more men are scared of this and make it a much bigger topic than it needs to be. Unless again I'm wrong and the US is actually this fucked haha

[–]TheSnesLord 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

There's a lot to a rape accusation for both parties

"both parties"

That is horse shit and you know it.

False accusations of sexual assault or r@pe against a man is a special weapon only reserved for women to use.

[–]neumodischanmassend 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah read that again. I said there's a lot to it. It's a big deal.

[–]TheSnesLord 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

But that's possible both ways around?

No it isn't, when a man does it, it is not taken seriously and people/society will accuse him of lying and trying to hurt the woman in question.

[–]neumodischanmassend -3 points-2 points-1 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Wow. I can only repeat what I already said, find some new people to hang out with to find some positivity. And if the US is really that fucked up, leave it?! This is definitely not a normal standard.

[–]Greg_W_Allan 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

When I was raped as a seven year old it was legal because a woman did it. The situation in marriages applied BOTH ways.

[–]neumodischanmassend -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, as I said. It was horrible and I think the more people are able to and brave enough to actually speak up, the better. Both genders. May I ask how long ago this was?

[–]Greg_W_Allan 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Decades. The laws involved didn't change until 30 years after the fact. It's still legal across much of the world.

[–]neumodischanmassend 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's horrible. All the best to you man!

[–]j0k3ricu 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

If it's only encouraged oneside and law enforcement is helping oneside. That law is not helping. And there is no counter measures on false allegations.

Keep in mind, some countries that have this law does not criminalise raping of males. And you know who pushed for it.

[–]neumodischanmassend 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I'm sorry I don't get what you're trying to say. Let's say it's because I'm not a native speaker. Would you mind wording it differently?

[–]j0k3ricu 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Spousal rape is illegal. I am all for it.

The recorded cases has always been from women. If a man makes a case, it's not taken seriously. And shamed publicly for making an accusation. Hence, one-sided.

Males cannot be rape in India, UK and few other countries, where spousal rape is illegal.

[–]ThreeLF 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

So, let’s start approaching women to work as roofers, road crews, sanitation workers, sewer workers, construction, welders, carpenters, etc. There are relatively few jobs at the top but there are lots of working class jobs that pay good salaries that women could do. Unless, what they really want is economic and political parity with elite males and not the rest of us.

My mother (retired now) who is 100% feminists (in negative way) when we talk about glass ceiling or wage gap admitted herself, that she'd always choose a male boss over female. Also, she was offered a managment position many times but there were mostly women in her department and as she described it, the was no way that she'd deal with all the drama they bring to work.

That's interesting. I'm a guy and I prefer women bosses.

Even more interesting. Why do you prefer women bosses over men bosses?

I've found the female bosses I've had to be considerate, flexible and happy to teach. The male bosses so far have been rigid and demanding with a desire to take advantage of you as far as possible.

Fair enough. I'm glad you've had positive experiences with your female bosses.
