Oh god this made me so angry.

In what world is being a single father different from being a single mother? Other than the sexist stigmas men face when spending time alone with their children, they face the same issues with work time commitments, childcare commitments, and raising their children without a partner. Thats not the mention the complete lack of any meaningful paternity leave...

This is completely unjustified, sexist, and I hope to god people complain about this if it is actually funded by tax payers (even if its not!)

Second, they’ve flown this under the radar in a major way locally because the city is broke, the county is broke, both have been and are being sued for corruption in multiple ways and it’s a very open secret that multiple mayors (including this one) and hangers on have been on the take for years.

So I’m not entirely sure how they got approved for a grant. And yes this should get shut down in court for being discriminatory but probably won’t be.

The program is called Embrace Mothers and gives single mothers $375 per month for one year.
UBI: Mothers can get $900 per month with this program
UBI: $850 guaranteed per month for 2 years
UBI: Claim $660 before deadline hits

OK, I followed one of the links and apparently there are many UBI programs, all for women only. And they pay different amounts.

Apparently, several states/cities are doing this. All of the programs seems a bit different. Some are just for anyone and some just for single parents of any sex. There is at least one program I saw just for fathers. Not all programs are federally funded.
