a week ago I watched the news channel in my city.

a man pushed his GF out of the window. she is lucky to be alive, had multiple fractures. the news proceeds to remind the audience that violence against women and DV like this is on the rise. in 2020, 27k cases of DV have been registered with the police, 80% of victims are girls and women. 91% of offenders are male. 1/4 of the offences were sexual abuse and violence. so it is very interesting to me when these numbers are pitted against a population of under 20 million, taking into account that these are only the reported cases. we know that rapes and sexual abuse usually go unreported and unpunished.

so whenever they tell women that they should choose better men and then shut them up with non-arguments like " she chose him, she should suffer the consequences", think that the selection of bad apples above is not too disproportionate. many men are rotten to their core while the exterior looks pretty much intact. we don't take into account the micro aggressions and the verbal abuse and the other things that will make domestic life hell for women. feigned incompetence, cheating, emotional unavailability, stonewalling, gaslighting and crazy making... these are not things for which women go to the police for. the stats above are the most dire cases but everywhere, men are capable of doing sufficient harm to women without their actions being categorized as crimes or offences.

with the rise of porn supporters and prostitution supporters and human life trafficking supporters among young men, we cannot say that those that commit these aggressions against women are just a small number. and while they gaslight women telling them they got "unlucky", I'd say it's not the problem of the woman but rather that most men have one of the issues above. too many men behaving badly and too many men profiting off those who abuse women.

The majority of men are bad. It is rare to find a man with true decent character. The sooner all women realize this, the better off we will all be.

Pre FDS, I believed this. When I got a shitty ex I believed I just got a bad one and the next one would be kind and caring and respectful. It also doesn’t help that this is what we are socialized to believe.

4 boyfriends, working with a primarily male population, growing up with men, dozens of bad dates and male “friends” later, and in my mid-30s now, can confirm that that is indeed a lie perpetuated by men. The closest thing to an HVM that I know is my brother.
