A week ago, I told my wife I wanted a divorce and left. We are both 30, have 2 young kids, and were married 8 years 8 months. In preliminary discussions, we agreed that she could not afford to keep our house ($1MM value), mostly because part of the down payment was from my inheritance. She had been wanting a more expensive, rural home anyways.

Today, I get a call from my realtor friend, saying that my wife reached out to him, trying to see a rural house for $750k. We agreed that he should reply saying that she needs pre-approval to see the house in order to avoid wasting his time.

My question is: what the hell is she thinking? She has no job/income, so it’s not like she would be able to get a loan. Is she dumb or am I missing something? Have you guys seen it where your wife asks for you to buy her a new home? Sounds insane…

Also, I wouldn’t even expect to include that area within the range required to keep the kids, as it’s about 45 minutes from any civilization.
