It's deplorable that men call women crazy when they behave in a way that isn't subservient or "nice". A woman's actions (this doesn't excuse destructive/bad behavior) are usually a direct result of abusive, controlling, or manipulative behavior. Why aren't men called crazy for their wrongdoings?

I was the "crazy" ex-girlfriend. I was irrational at times. I had emotional outbursts.

Why was I that way?

Well, ladies, it turns out he was lying to me for our entire relationship about something quite huge. Something that negatively impacted me on a daily basis. Instead of being honest with me, he continually doubled down on his lies. Towards the end of our relationship, certain things just didn't make sense to me anymore and I was questioning the reality I lived in, but nothing I did, no amount of crying, yelling, anything, did anything.

There was one time that we were arguing in the car close to the end of our relationship. I had no idea at the time, but I came so close to calling out his lie. I had him in a corner I didn't even see. He could have been honest with me, but instead he immediately turned the conversation to "I don't want to talk about this because you get too emotional!!" Yeah, well, duh, I was getting emotional, you lied and warped my reality for three years.

Two things: I've actively said to certain men I knew I didn't want to be around any longer: I don't feel safe telling you how I really feel, because you simply can't handle any real emotion from me or anyone else. And the moment I'm at that point, it's all over, be it friendship or a budding romance. They simply can't keep up.

The other thing is, I'm a firm believer in getting both sides of the story. I've mentioned before that deep, telling silence when a man is told, or found out, or exposed, or had his game told on him. I've chatted with many men, who tell me the whole "crazy ex" story. I say hmm, I wonder what she'd say? I'd love to get her perspective on that! Then absolute silence. Just remember, when a man goes silent, you have hit a nerve and they have zero comeback, because they would just out themselves. Always ask a man how his ex would feel or think about something. What they say or don't say is a vetting strategy.

Psychologist here. I learned in school that everyone justifies their actions after the fact. However, I have noticed LV and ZV men have no honor, no accountability, and no insight into their actions and the consequences of said actions.

Labeling someone has crazy removes all accountability for their actions/responses. To me this is indicative of immaturity. And it also shows accusations aren't thought through and are just knee jerk.

Just my pre coffee thoughts.

Men are seriously committed to exaggerating anything a woman says. For example, accusing her of "yelling" when she simply states, "Hey, can you turn off that light when you leave the room?" That's "yelling" to some men.

Or asserting that she's spending time alone because she's "triggered" (such a stupid word) when really, she just wants to work on a project or spend some time to herself.

Men are expert at projecting all their shit onto women, accusing us of being "irrational" "overemotional" and "crazy" all while they act in ways that would garner a very hostile response from others.

Men are the crazy ones. Proof: Look who commits most of the violent crime in our society.

I was friends with a couple in which the father gained the custody of the children of his previous marriage. He said his ex was mentally ill, tried suicide wouldn't, wouldn't take her meds, and returned to live with her parents. They visited her regularly and were still fond of her.

That's how you talk about a "crazy" person.

Well, after having dated a manipulative man, I can now understand his ex-wife was indeed, not crazy. She has flaws, yes, but based on how he treated me, how could he have not put her through hell during their marraige.

They all label you crazy when they had zero-self-awareness of the harm they caused.
