There’s no objective SMV. Being rated based on my location, finances, physical attributes etc. wouldn’t give me a “sexual market value.” It would just rank me in comparison to other people in my area, that doesn’t necessarily determine someone’s sexual desirability.

For example, in my area the median income is $35,000. Obviously obviously someone making 6-figures, despite their other values will skew the the overall “value” in comparison.

I’m not interested in someone just because they make figures.

Okay but you also have to factor in too many things to give an accurate rating. For instance, I’m pretty attractive, tall, in good shape, go to a really prestigious university, and have a good social life. I look like a good person to date on paper.

I am however a complete shithead, and despite the fact that I spend drastically fewer waking hours sober than intoxicated, that doesn’t really come across when I’m deliberately put together and going on dates, meeting people’s parents, in class, etc.

I also have no job so I’d guess that would tank my value on any “objective” scale, however most people I know my age don’t have income and so that’s not something they care about.

Anyway I think the scale is going to be really superficial and unable to determine whether people are compatible even when they seem so on paper

Smv is just a guideline if you will, a way to look at things in a way. That we can talk about them. Obviously things are more nuanced then just pure smv, like timing, mental health, desires, social group, people you actually come in contact with, people you actually like as people, commitments and so forth.

If it's voluntary then it sounds like something that only really uncontroversially hot, successful, confident people who know they're likely to get a high score are going to opt into. Which would be kind of redundant because those people are already self-evidently attractive.

I doubt a lot of average people are going to willingly shoot themselves in the foot by putting a number to their mediocrity and giving others yet another variable with which to filter them out even easier on dating apps.

Nobody's score 1 - 10 is going to be the same. It's subjective.

I even read someone on here saying that no man is a 10 because that man doesn't exist, the hottest man on the planet is a 9. I was fucking dumbfounded. Why even rate out of 10 if the scale ends at 9? Some people just be insane.

These terms would have definitions that are wildly skewed from the general population because those definitions would be made by people who unironicly take things like that as “truth” and “indisputable”. So a standard definition couldn’t really be that universal.
