I wised up up and recorded everything. Same feeling. Thought nobody will believe me. It’s a man vs woman in a he said/she said battle with the man hating court systems, smear campaigns to friends etc…Her facade of a personality to those who aren’t close is far from what comes out in the privacy of the home in the confines of a relationship. The smear campaigns, cheating and abuse were too much for me. I still have flashbacks and get triggered with adrenaline easily. However, she now faces domestic abuse charges in court this month thanks to 5 minutes of video and audio recording her unprovoked, unrelenting animalistic rage. I had to record and fend off kicks punches and even weights thrown at me. All while being told she was having reactionary abuse. Even with video and me calling 911 I was almost the one who got handcuffed and taken to jail that night. The damsel in distress act almost convinced the cops. Fucking saint to the world and a monster manipulator to the person that gave her everything I could possibly give.

Thank god for this sub. It validates and normalized my experience in a way that is necessary for healing.

Been there. I’ve got 2 years worth of text exchanges, 1 year’s worth of audio, photos, and my own journal to boot that remind me that leaving her, difficult as it was, was absolutely the right decision. That stuff stays in the vault though. Don’t post that stuff on the internet - you don’t want to run the risk of her finding out and then suing you for defamation or slander (even if it’s true).

Keep it secret, keep it safe. You never know what might happen in the future. It’s possible it will be extremely relevant one day. Who can say? Keep the long game in mind and remind yourself that you aren’t the crazy one - no matter how much she tries to make you think you are. Not when the objective reality of the situation - of you both - is right in front of you, preserved.

Side note: I’ve worn a body cam now during every call and physical exchange of our kids since she had me thrown out of the house on false DV charges. Amazingly once she realized the camera wasn’t going away, the accusations and insane behavior dropped precipitously - from her and her family. I like to think it keeps everyone honest ✊
