Until 1979, the hurricane name lists were made up only of women's names, but because of claims that the naming convention was sexist, the lists of names for hurricanes and tropical storms after 1979 have alternated between men's names and women's names. Even then they ended up still not satisfied. Here is why and I'll quote -
