My view has long been that the award of degrees must not be the right of anyone providing training for those degrees as it is an obvious conflict of interest. If universities either provided training or assessed for degrees the (the way driving tests are administered, i.e. independently of driving schools) many of these problems would simply disappear.

Also, I feel bad for the Asian applicants who get rejected for not being extroverted enough.

These kids are geniuses compared to most of their peers, but schools outside of like MIT refuse to subject their student body to anything other than curated “legacy” (read: crony/nepotist) students, athletes, and mediocre cool kids.

There were many successful lawsuits against universities.

For example for having way more sex based scholarships for women. Even though they already are majority of students.

I disagree as someone who was teaching in a tertiary environment, its corrupted beyond repair.

Like really its over, the smart people have either been muzzled or pushed out.

I personally know 2 people who contributed heavily to probiotic research and the HPV vaccine.

They are both out of academia now because of reasons I allude to and the world is poorer for it.

I don't know what to tell you man , its fucked.

Npr freakonomics episode this morning {5 June 2022} was about the absence of men in universities, and admitted finding that boys suffered from their treatment in schools - it mentioned that boys were falling behind and that the rambunctious behavior boys were known for was punished to the degree that boys were rejecting schools.

While Title IX is one of the most insidious statutes to infect universities regarding intersexual dynamics, kangaroo courts, lack of due process, legal representation, etc -- one of the overlooked parts of it is how it has obliterated male collegiate sports teams.

The "proportionality clause" ended hundreds of male sports programs in order to keep them level with female programs. In the meantime, college football teams are essentially subsidizing female sports (and many male) teams across the board. It's similar to the NBA and WNBA dynamic -- where the WNBA loses money every year (60 million in revenue, 70 million budget), and is only alive due to subsidies by the male NBA.

In my country there is one major university that sees its origin in the 16th century. Several years ago a competing 'college' opened its doors and started offering a huge diversity of degrees and diplomas.

The main university had to try and compete and from being a serious university it started offering courses in gender studies, in theater etc. I studied sciences at this university but I also did some credits in the humanities. The problem is that all professors are leftists. Some of them Marxists. I get the impression that many universities suffer from this problem: their professors and deans are extreme leftists.

Regarding point 2 and expanding on the result of this decades long trend.

The equality and employement laws in some countries dont allow discrimination based on a metric that is unfair to one sex or a group of people. An obvious example has been body strength and height. How does this not apply to education? It goes without saying I am not speaking of medical professionals or lawyers etc.

It is pretty much the same story in all of the western world. Achievement on all levels has boys overall doing worse than girls overall.

The day you realize toxic masculinity is not related to a human having the gender of being a men, life will become easier.

Toxic masculinity is a term in sociology to describe a cluster of traits that are harmful. They happen to be aggregated in what were labeled as masculine traits and expected to be something men have. But this is only within binary gender roles and traditionalist outlooks.

A woman, a non-binary, an agender etc. person can exhibit toxic masculinity

Suing a university for having a disproportionate number of women would just be pushing affirmative action. Should men be let in with worse grades just to help them? Should women be hired with worse resumes just to help them?
