This shit right here, a the time. If you vent at all, even in the slightest, least offensive way about dating success, then you're an entitled piece of shit. And if you don't? Waaaaah why won't the evil men open up about their feelings????! Seriously. There is literally nothing, NOTHING entitled about expecting a bare minimum of communication with someone you're trying to date, even if the dating partner doesn't pan out.

I think the "You're not entitled to [whatever you were hoping to achieve]" is a way of telling you to shut up. The obvious example here would be sex after courting her.

It seems to like so, more than anything it shows a complete disinterest in anything but self serving behavior. Which makes me see less and less incentive towards acting in good faith and not encouraging men to be equally selfish. We only have one life to live after all.

There seems to be an attempt by some to mix up two different ways you can be owed something. In a strict legal and contractual sense you aren't owed any social interaction from anyone. In this sense, a husband also doesn't owe his wife fidelity, a sibling doesn't owe it to his brother that he talk to him, and a dad doesn't owe it to his children to not be involved with their childhood. You won't see these same people defending this stuff though, because it's objectively immoral behavior.

However, in the sense of social norms and treating everyone as they wish to be treated, a husband does owe his wife his fidelity, a brother cutting off his brother that did nothing wrong is a bad brother, and a dad that doesn't want to be involved with his kids growth is a piece of shit. And similarly you are owed basic courteously from strangers, and to be treated with dignity and respect by others, if that is how you've interacted with them. There is of course no way to actual enforce these social expectations from others (beyond social repercussions that might happen) and they don't have the backing of the law in this country. But you are not entitled if you feel hurt by these people. You are a person with feelings, and it's your right to feel a certain way when you aren't being treated with respect.

Again, I do fundamentally believe there is an attempt to mix up these two. the same people saying you aren't owed basic respect from others would doubtless be very hurt when the same is not done to them.

People already don't excuse the second example, let alone worse.

And we excuse the first example because it's the internet. I remember when getting nasty messages in your inbox was still an actual talking point, something we tried to solve. Now we just accept that as things that happen if you go online.

People don't want to attack online behavior, because we can't do shit about it without compromising online anonymity and we don't want to do that.

So bad behavior online? Different rules. And ghosting is like soooo little compared to the other shit that gets excused through the lens of online behavior.

Taking ownership won't change anything. Only the legal system can help you with that and that is never guaranteed. In that kind of matter the legal system doesn't care either.
