Child Support Countdown. How much time you all have left?

You guys won't believe this. My child's mother was arrested for felony assault from a domestic violence incident with her boyfriend. This happened while my kid was with her.

I got temporary full custody, filed to modify for permanent full custody and got her child support shut down by the court.

I went from barely seeing my kid to being a full time parent. With that and keeping all my money, it's turning into an awesome time in my life.

I don't mean to gloat, I know I got lucky. I know the situation a lot of you guys are in and I'm with you %100. I have been handling all of this recent family court stuff myself. I had previously used a lawyer. The people at our courthouse law library have been more helpful than my lawyer ever was. Maricopa county if you are curious.

It never stops. My son is 25 and I sent him 2000 dollars last month because he needed it. Being a helpful father never stops.

I got snipped explicitly to avoid this situation. It's probably the one area where my overdrive-level-anxiety has served me well in life. Never was able to maintain a relationship once sex was involved due to the level of anxiety I had about pregnancy/child support (to be clear, even with strict contraceptive use).

Well in my situation, good news.

My ex is a monster, a covert narcisisist that turned everyone against me and made false allegations and used the kids as a means of trying to control me...

She also leveraged my re-emerging memories of CSA as a means of hurting me, and I had to prioritise my own survival in the face of her ongoing abuse.

So I refused to play her zero sum game and stepped away from the table, and my children for now.

I'm homeless, live in my car and in wild places... I live off benefits due to being a veteran and having complex PTSD...

I haven't paid her a penny of child support, and am not foreseeing myself working ever again.

Obviously if she changes her ways and it's safe for me to see my children again, I'll find a way to support my kids while they're with me 50/50 (if I had 50/50 I'd be able to get a place to live etc...)

But basically she's boxed herself in with no means of getting money or attention off me.

And I'm loving life, despite losing so much!

1.5 yrs till emancipation. My ex wife has turned my kids against me after they were old enough to not need a baby sitter. I pay child support to a woman for kids I never get to have a relationship with. Because I wanted to have a relationship with my kids I never got a paternity test. My advice to men having children is to have a dna test as soon as child is born.

As an ace who is dating a man, chances are really good I'll never have to deal with this, but I have seen so many people fucked over by the system that it makes me scared to even consider being friends with the other sex....

Like I told my ex whom I share a 5 year old daughter with and who has full custody of our child and who I have to pay child support too while she has no job. I told her "Your the one who benefited out of the relationship and I'm the one who suffered from it. You ended up Ina better position before I met you while I'm in a worse position."

Which is so true and for other ended relationships to. The girl always is awarded custody and child support. So now sometimes she don't even have to work she can just find a new man with money. Which isn't that hard for women lets be honest. And so the guy / baby daddy is the one who gets the short end of the stick. He's stuck having to work and pay for his and her finances. Which makes it hard for them to afford their own place cause now he has to pay for his own place and help pay for hers too.

So im gonna say it again like I told my ex, " after failed relationship/ divorces women usually end up in a better position while men end up in a worse position before marriage."

Basically there is no incentive for guys to get married anymore really

I managed to get full custody. Took forever, and also took the mother a lot of time convincing the court she did not want the kids. Fucked up system.

While I was not allowed to see them, i made letters. Inwas basically writing a bit about how much I miss them and everything I was doing to try to be with them. My hope was that at least then they could read when they are older and realize I did not abandon them.
