"Such a move feeds into what critics say is a culture of anti-feminism that has characterised South Korean politics over the past few years.

Men in South Korea increasingly argue that polices designed to advantage women are discriminatory.

The current government has removed the term "gender equality" from its school ethics curriculum and is trying to close its gender equality ministry.

Oh Kyung-jin from the Korean Women's Association is disappointed the spaces are being removed but is more concerned about the wider trend.

"The government is trying to push ahead with anti-feminist policies, and now we can see these regressive policies feeding through into local governments," she said.

But male pilot Cho Young-jae thinks the women-only spaces need to go.

"These spaces do discriminate against men", the 34-year-old said.

The city government plans to start converting the spaces at the end of March.

This is absolutely fantastic.

Let's hope this is the start of getting rid of all the policies and laws that advantage women and disadvantage/discriminate against men. All these "Ministry of Gender Equality" type organizations are just misandrists disguised as "equality".

As I've always said, those Korean anti-feminist guys know how to get things done. Unlike the absolute wimps that are Western men.

Lol they are literally prioritizing adult women's safety over children essentially here. According to what the feminists want.

So not women and children first when the boat is sinking or to be possibly attacked, but women of driving age first, then children below driving age, including girls, then men.

Good. Now they should make the Korean conscription laws equal for both genders as well, or remove them completely. Korean men are conscripted for 2 yrs, and they barely get any salary during that time (a friend said $30 a month. They don't have enough money to get a taxi to visit home during leave), while the women continue to live their lives as they please.

In principle, I actually support women-only parking spaces just so long as its a managed system.

If there are always empty spaces then they need to cut down for example.

Thing is, I am not for equality across the board because I don't see men and women as being generally equal. I think women need more help and protection and that's fine. What isn't fine is them pretending they never needed the help or protection.

This is not a feminist issue this is a Public Safety issue.

Women and Men are NOT the same. Women are far less likely to be able to defend themselves compared to men. Women also tend to have kids with them more often than men so it helps keep the kids safe as well. If anything it should have been extended to include idk, guys over 65?..

The idea that we should ignore the safety of women generally because of a small number of FF or a bunch of immature children saying "feminism is about equality" is repulsive. What's next Male Firefighters won't rescue women from burning buildings... SMH

Men should protect those less able to protect themselves, people of any description. This isn't about Systematic inequality or A women that may falsely claim SA, this is about the safety of your MOTHERS, DAUGHTERS, SISTERS...

nb: Don't bother with any "yeah but they want equality" or "they went along with it" stuff. I KNOW they do.. but that just puts them into the immature children class and we should protect them anyway.
