Weed those toxic people out of your life. You can only lead by example and trust me, all the “I hate men” strong independent women I knew in my 20s are either cat spinsters working for the government (if at all) or have flipped once they realize how stupid their attitude is.

With the men who say that stuff, it’s only because they have a toxic home life. That kind of self hate is damaging

Gen Z isn't alone in this at all. The Millennials do it, Gen X do it, the Boomers do it. These misandrist attitudes have been on the rise for decades, beginning in earnest in the 60s. The main difference between Gen Z and the previous generations is that we are now at a point where misandry is pervasive in the western world, so the Gen Z have been fed misandrist ideas from all fronts. But don't be surprised if you hear an otherwise gentle grandmother spew misandrist bs.

So we need people to counter misandry and other types of superficial hatred in the coming years.

As for your friends, you can try challenging their misandrist ideas but you have to be smart and patient about it. You'll have to counter their bs by using facts and logic and do it in a non combative way. If you do it harshly you'll probably just put them on the defensive and they'll most likely double down.

So begin by challenging their most egregious statements and try disproving the basic assumption under their statements. For example, your friend said that all men lies, which logically means that he was lying when he said that. He made a logical paradox by saying that. So in order to counter such a statement, say that it's not reasonable to make that kind of negative blanket statements about a whole group of people, because every man is an individual with his own good and bad sides, some lie but some don't.

The basic assumption behind your friends statement, aside from thinking that all men are dishonest and manipulative, is that people are defind by the group they are a part of, and not unique individuals. So you got to challenge that idea and make him realize that people are individuals with personal agency and can't be reduced to superficial characteristics like gender, race and so on.

And be patient. If you want to change their mind, you have to expect using weeks and months on the project, because people don't change their worldview over night.

Feminists have a lot of power in the government and by extension education. I only realized this recently but throughout school I can remember MULTIPLE times (sometimes twice in the same week) where they brough some feminist in to give presentations (indoctrination). So a lot of people just end up believing it because they never heard anything else and were told anyone that goes against the narrative taught to them is the enemy. It's quite similar to how the Nazis indoctrinated the German youth into thinking an Allied victory would result in the end of civilization.

I've had to sit next to people like that for hours a day for periods of several months. It's toxic, unprofessional, unfriendly, rude, and ignorant. Maybe you can break through to them that there is something unhealthy about the way they talk about men, if not, it's up to you to decide if you want to put up with it.

I know I definitely wouldn't, because I've been able to find good friends who don't enjoy taking out their bigotry on men on a weekly basis. If I can have friends who aren't so toxic, why would I bother with the misandrists? I'm sure if you wanted to you could find good people who are at the very least polite enough to keep any misandry to themselves, but if these friends are important to you, it may prove a good opportunity to win some people over.

It's very much the in thing now to hate men. I am 55 and I have watched the world.. And yes there have been feminists and rabid ones at that but its never been kind of societally encouraged to dislike, denigrate and pass negative and even sneeringly dismissive remarks about men as it is now.. I am a 55 yo woman BTW and I don't agree with feminism and I don't agree with misandry at all.

You can try communicating how words like that affect you as a man, and, how, especially other guys saying this also means they are expressing self-hatred.

Dropping them right away is probably too harsh, and calling them out will probably alienate you.

You can set a boundary, saying that it is offensive and hurtful, and see if that boundary is respected, and then act accordingly.

If they are truly your friends then you might not want to just abruptly cut it off but if they continue that line of speaking it might inevitably happen.

Misandry is so strong in Gen Z because they're really the first generation to come into adolescence with social media already being a dominant entertainment medium. Social media platforms are very leftwing on social issues like feminism so by default a lot of Gen Zers have been programmed to think men are innately sexual predators.

I don't like much those friends but this is probably a bit more complex, given their age, and you don't necessarily have to drop them, though seem incompatible and might grow apart.

They most likely lack the personality and character yet to have their own, personal view on many subjects. Misandry has been encouraged and trivialized for at least a decade, it's 'normal' that they say those things. I suppose those are just 'jokes' or non too serious comments, they just don't understand how harmful and unfair they are being.

There's some truth in many stereotypes that we apply to a gender specifically (happens to women too, though there are many double standards). 'All men are liars'. Many men do actually lie to women to avoid arguing or to increase their chances at seducing them, and that's sometimes not ethical, depends on how it's done and for what reason, though a lie is a lie. Women lie too, a damn lot, usually for similar reasons but on different subjects. What your friends are doing is attributing every negative aspect of society to men, and who knows...there are girls in that group, many insecure and naive young guys will shame or demonize men in the hopes it makes them look cooler to women (aka simping).

Your friends will most likely eventually change, drastically, and with how life works you'll probably be changing your social circle a few times even if you don't want to.

There are many other factors, like the increase in single motherhood and socieconomic changes that made the gen Z very misandrist, but ultimately it's kind of pointless, straight women will date straight men and men will usually have more in common with other men, nothing will change at the core, what will change and is already happening is the law. These misandrist law are really harmful and people like your friends will support the misandrist system for at least a few years more, until they open their eyes or grow the character to be honest about their real opinions. For the record, plenty of women declare themselves non feminist, in fact, in certain controversial feminist subjects, men are their biggest supporters (of radical feminism). Keep that in mind, some women are dangerous and some are great people, like men.

If you're unsure about whether you should drop your friends or not the best way might be two fold.
1. Set yourself up with an active social life outside of these friends so you feel independent of their friendship.
2. Bring up that their comments are offensive. That these comments would not be tolerated in any other setting and shouldn't be tolerated just because they are made towards men. If your friends handle you pulling them up on this bullshit well. Then you might be able to enact change and they might just grow up a bit.
If they don't handle it well. You have other friends and diverse social life to fall back on. You can move on with your life knowing that you've dropped dead weight and are better for it.

I would say, drop these kind of people out of your life, if you don't know how to do it, do it slowly and just dont hang out with them. This people will make you miserable and question your sanity. Let your friend be like this, if or when he get false accusation( woman today likes to do that), or is false rape or if he gets divorced, his mindset will change.

Be picky who are your friends, vet people online who you interact and see what they think, how they think, so you can judge properly if you want them to be your friend or potential partner.

The big thing is this: when you see it, or hear it- call it out. Not aggressively- "knock it off, you sexist asshole" isn't helpful- but Socratically. Make them explain and justify their anti-male statements, because the horrifying truth is that your generation's been so inundated with that sentiment that they don't even think about it any more. My generation heard those same things, but we had better messages, too, so we had the knowledge to simply roll our eyes and walk away, choosing not to associate with those people. You can see for yourself how well that turned out.

These ideas are going to have to be confronted, and unfortunately, it's going to be guys just like you that have to do much of the grunt work. Confront it when you find it- but first, brace yourself to lose a LOT of friends.

Having said that, it isn't a GenZ thing, it is just more prevalent/noticeable right now. People who follow these lines of thought have always been around, they are just in positions of power and influence now so they have a bigger voice.

Your friend saying that you're the only guy he's comfortable with is a bit weird, but the other stuff seemed somewhat normal to me. Yes, it's not good to generalize, but when you're frustrated and just go through something like a breakup, you just want to vent your anger. It's pretty normal to say something like "fk guys, I'm not falling for another again." Guys do that too when it comes to girls, including in media. It's also normal to kinda support your friend in that moment even if you don't actually mean it. It's a less harmful version of drinking your sorrows away basically. That being said, if it happens unprompted by frustrations, then there's something wrong there. Maybe try to point out that they're generalizing when it comes up again. See if they try to fix that habit. It won't be fixed in the first 3 or 4 times they do it, but if they actually care, then they'll fix it eventually. If they don't seem to be trying to fix that habit, then it's probably time to drop them as friends.
