If you read up on the history of the pilot areas of this, it was actually mainly used by separated fathers.

They were concerned about the mother dating unsavoury characters so checked their criminal record in case their child was in danger.

The laws in the UK (apart from the rape law) are gender neutral. So men will be able to check up on females. However it is up to the Police what they tell you. So violence probably yes, false accusation of rape, probably not. Also how much evidnec of a relationship will be inteteresting. Can anyone check on anyone.

In the US we don't need a law like this. These things are all public record anyways.

I own a house I rent out. There are websites that will sell me your court records. I learned how to do it free on my own. Nothing to it. I can do a search with your name and DOB.

Any female can check on any male to find if there is any "history of violence". Worse, it's checking if there have ever been charges, not convictions.

The reverse though wouldn't even be helpful, because very few female abusers are ever charged.

I guess that's all a part of being a subject of the crown...

It's anyone, male or female. Also you don't get a sheet telling you all their misdeeds, you request your local police to look it up and if anything is potentially dangerous (i.e. history of abuse, etc) then they will decide whether or not to tell you. You can't just go find out if your new boyfriend or girlfriend ever shoplifted or anything like that.

I know that men can check on women too under the law but it would also be useful for men to know if a woman had made a rape allegation. I do not think for one minute the Police will disclose this. It seems like protect women but not men.

Amen! But how much would it help here in the US? Would I be able to see if my potential "partner" had filed numerous stalking and rape charges? Where there's smoke there's fire: stalked once, a stable woman would learn to avoid stalker personalities; besides which actual stalking is rare. Multiple occurrences means a huge problem with the "victim". Would it show if she had filed domestic abuse charges? With women initiating over 50 percent of domestic violence incidents, that would really be more of a benefit for men than for women.

I had a GF who taught me the meaning of "don't stick your dick in crazy": she was bright, charming, exceptional in many ways. Won't go into detail, but it turned out she had a serious psychological disorder - the kind of shit that you see documentaries on where the entire family has no clue for years and years. Had I know before getting intimate that she had filed stalking charges numerous times on several guys(not part of her disorder, just a sign), I'd have run like the fucking hounds of hell were nipping at my heels.

Womyns everywhere are outraged at sites that out false rape accusers and other dysfunctional females. But what choice do we have?

What the fuck is this country coming to? A few years ago, I turned down a job because they asked for a criminal record and credit history check. Criminal record I get, but my credit history has nothing to do with the position at all. Now this? I see all these articles in which women complain about men not "stepping up" and avoiding relationships and marriage. Is it any wonder when we're being treated like criminals?
