I like how she compares a Cafeteria worker vs. a Custodian.

True neither require education, but a custodian is a more physically demanding job, which requires the custodian to be on his feet and lifting heavy objects throughout his shift. Requires to use industrial cleaning machines to maintain a property, plus minor repairs.

A cafeteria worker typically works very few hours, and is responsible for maybe one or at the most two rooms inside the school, the custodian still has to come into here to clean the floors after they are done their shift.

If a child vomits or has any other form of bodily accident the cafeteria worker does not typically have to remove the offending vomit or waste, and the custodian has to come in and clean up the mess, same goes in the bathrooms.

This lady can go do each one of these jobs, and see what skills are required for each of them, she can use an industrial floor polisher and watch her fly around in circles in the hallway.

Also when you are using this type of heavy machinery / minor building repairs there is a much higher risk of accidents, and permanent damages.

Farrell could have made a better argument in this one. I think it is important to also remember that in the US something around 80% of women and only 50% of men have children. So even if there were laws forcing men to take equally long paternity leave, and were equally as likely to be the stay-at-home parent, there would still be quite a big difference in risk factor for employers. Similar issue in the military as well, since pregnancy in the armed forces is higher than in the general population. The military loses over 10% of it's female soldiers just to pregnancy when deployments come around.

Farrell spews some serious bullshit concerning how women's choice to pursue a more balanced work-life approach makes them smarter than men or something equally retarded. There's a problem though: Men don't have a choice when it comes to the matter. They must work and that's that.

He also says this more balanced approach leads to more happiness, yet women are the unhappiest they have ever been. One also wonders about the state of the economy if men worked less and thus much less overall collective hours put in.
