Pretty sure , at least since about 2002 (end of internet 1.0 era ish?) it has been consistently demonstrated that men receive significantly higher levels of "abuse" than women.

Not just politicians, just men across the board.... if I recall, it isn't even close. I don't know if the most recent numbers show this, but I vaguely recall since at least 2002 and up to 2013 this has been the case.

It's not surprising that conservatives get a lot of hate. It always seems like from the US at least that the left gets a shit ton more hate though. The conservatives definitely deserve it much more considering

Men in general get the majority of online abuse. The bulk of men are the majority of a lot of bad, terrible, annoying things. This shouldn't be surprising to anyone anymore.

Wouldn't it be perfectly safe to assume this was the fact with how much men outnumber women generally in politics?

If anything all this shows is how much abuse of politicians in general has risen for everyone except males in the Labour party.
