I thought about this somewhat today, because of article I run into here. I'm not sure is hypergamy real or not, since girls I have dated were always less earning than me. However some guys worry about this a lot. They fear that they are not rich enough, have good enough genes or are high enough in social hierarchy or all of the above. Which is sad, but still, to come to think of it, hypergamy is not necerssairy a bad thing. We always want something better and pretty much always aim for best we can get. And to possibly get healthy baby in future if relationship goes that far. Would it be fair to a woman to be with man that doesn't meet up with her standards, just because of possible stigma of being "shallow" or "golddigger". And is it fair to ask from a man to be with a woman that he doesn't find that physically attractive, because of possible stigma of being "shallow" too.

I don't think it is.
